FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I could easily see e2e improving on human driving because I'm not sure how relevant edge case are. I admit I don't have data to back this, but my gut says the majority of human injury/fatal crashes are not situational "edge cases" but instead routine driving scenarios caused by inattentiveness...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Jeez, the debate won't stop.... This neighbor of mine tells me my general purpose oven isn't "self backing". I say, "come on, if I set the controls and it bakes properly, what's the difference?" She tells me I'm dumb and cites the manual where I may need to intervene to adjust the time or...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Update... talked to neighbors, nearly all agree my wife's and my debate over "self baking oven" is semantics. However, one neighbor claims her oven is superior. Turns out it has just one button for baking cookies at exactly 400 degrees for exactly 30 minutes (& only enables baking when its not...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I need help. My wife and I argue over whether the laundry machine washes clothes or she washes them. Can anyone clarify? I'm looking for nuanced industry standards and legal definitions, not some common understanding most agree on. After that's solved, I need to address whether my oven bakes...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Centering makes sense on a straight, flat, and open roads, but I was about to reply with the exact same points BBTX makes, plus I'd add that it centers too much when approaching blind hills. I disengage at the same spot on every trip home because of this.

    FSD Beta v11.x

I think nothing new in the notes is best for "meaningful improvement", so they can tweak 4.4 to work as intended vs adding new stuff. Same reason 3.6 works best for most people but the new capabilities of 4.x (albeit perhaps needed for the long-term) broke the 3.6 stability for many

    FSD Beta v11.x

I just got 11.4.4 pushed. I seldom get early pushes and of course I'm out of town for a week

    Snippiness 2.0

I agree 100% with you and Tronguy. I have the same crew on Ignore but this afternoon still had to wade through 4+ pages of replies to them to read 2 or 3 useful posts. While I'm as excited as ever for the promise FSD holds, I'm losing interest in this site because of these polluted threads.

    FSD Beta v11.x

I frankly expected a lot fewer ABENDS in my FSDb due to the improvements in FORTRAN and Linters over the last 30 years
  10. V

    FSD Beta v11.x

Makes sense to me that we'd see a "stable" FSDb version attached to the latest firmware, while new FSDb versions (call them "experimental") are vetted on a parallel track. Other do this. Axis Camera's have their Long-Term Support Firmware (stable version) and Active Firmware (experimental)...

    FSD Beta v11.x

While we share interests here, we range from totally optimistic and positive fans to completely pessimistic and negative haters, so naturally there are arguments and sometimes aggressive jabs. For me, witnessing the amount of time naysayers devote to persistent negativity is a fascinating study...

Wow 11.3.4 rollout happening fast. Just got it, coming from 10.69.

    FSD Beta v11.x

Lol, I am the same way. In fact, the only way I know an update is truly better is when I see the usual "this update is utter crap" posters saying neutral to even positive things.

    FSD Beta v11.x

This is a good summary (most of which this forum already knew) but I disagree with this statement at 6:59: "Tesla is under tremendous pressure to deliver something great, and the more delayed its gets, the higher the expectations are. I don't think there is anyway to deliver what the public is...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I read EVNow's quote to mean just because those YT'ers are fans, influencers, and generally positive about Tesla doesn't make them Tesla "shills". In the same way that you being a fan, influencer and generally positive about Waymo doesn't make you a Waymo "shill". The problem is there is so...

    FSD Beta 10.69

The methodical process you layout is indeed the traditional approach, but Elon doesn't think in traditional approaches. Can his entrepeneurial approach of "fall -> fall -> succeed" work in a scaled company? Time will tell, but so far his approach has "wham-bammed" Tesla to a $300B+ market cap...

    FSD Beta 10.69

March makes sense, in fact I expect the typical timeline: 2 Weeks from Now: "Surprised" TMC posters begin commenting 11.3 is late (the "2 week" jokes are exhausted, Elon's reliability revisited, etc.) February: early non-employee tester rollout, followed by critical comments of "shill's...

Usually individuals who polute these threads with negativity have an axe to grind with Tesla. This makes sense.

Yes, the delay of a beta software release is comparable to the tradegy and death of 35 people.

The catastrophe of FSD and erosion of trust in Tesla

Hang in there... It's a small but vocal group of naysayers on here and you can't take them all seriously (like, seriously, if this "catastrophe" of an FSD-enabled car tried to "kill you twice", would you really keep using it?) Putting half a dozen usual suspects on ignore makes daily reading...

Agreed, so many threads poluted with the same complaints. Very frustrating to wade through the non-sense over and over.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

What exactly is "good sensor fusion"? Maybe Tesla felt they had "good sensor fusion", but pure vision could be even better. We don't know. You don't know. Maybe Tesla is right, maybe wrong. Regardless, Elon and the Tesla engineers and developers who opted for Pure Vision have more relevant...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Tesla's self-driving is game changing, and most of us are excited to be a part of it. Your arguments against FSD remind me of early naysayers who doubted cell phones because "we'll never have adequate coverage" or early bulletin board users who said the "lack of content would render the...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Maybe Tesla has thought this through and determined that simply informing testers to "click the button" is enough? Maybe they determined that not explicitly telling testers that disengagements notifies Tesla is ok, because it wouldn't change one's actions anyway. Maybe testers don't get manuals...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

I feel our chances are becoming better and better with each hour that passes (without an accident, knock on wood) and as I watch new drivers' videos. This "idiot driver" as you call him is just one of a 1000 and most new FSD beta drivers seem in control, despite the potential carefree feeling...

Vision Only vs Radar - Observations from a 3 year owner

My guess is the unified code of "Vision/driver monitoring/single stack/FSD" would be what we get in Beta. If there is no long-term path for some hybrid of FSD for city streets with "legacy" highway AP/NoA, I doubt they would beta test it.

New Tesla APP 4.x. Released for iOS and Android

Did anyone get the Android app in Play Store yet, or did those who posted side load it from the link above? It's not available yet in Play Store for me.

    Software update

I seriously doubt they are rolling out empty releases as a marketing strategy. I also don't expect them to be 100% transparent nor should they. Many of these minor fixes likely correct errors/issues in AP. Release notes can't say, "Fixes radar problem that enabled rear end collision", or...

Not a fan of recent software changes

So if I follow this analog here, are we saying allowing us Tesla owners to choose the old software revision we want should be allowed because in some cases we won't be using our car for driving? :)

FSD City release date keeps getting pushed?

FSD City release date keeps getting pushed?

Not sure why we even need to compare computers to brains. Of course they are different, in fact, computers/algorithms may be inherently better suited to solve the driving problem than the brain. We simply need a computer/algorithm to solve the driving problem equal to or better than humans...

FSD City release date keeps getting pushed?

Fair points and I agree the ANN =/= brain. Different tools with different capabilities. I'd argue that ultimately computers/ANNs are better suited to solve the driving problem than the brain. The brain may be better suited to solve extremely complex driving edge cases (at least right now)...

    2021.4.12

New MY owner here at of last Saturday (3/27/21). Still on 2020.47.104. Curious, why do new Tesla's come with this dated "new car" branch? Does it have additional "new owner" safety features while we acclimate (i.e. more nag, less aggressive lane changes, etc.)? Does it have less aggressive...

FSD City release date keeps getting pushed?

For everyone jumping on Hugh's comment, your comments are valid, but do you disagree with the fundamental premise that eventually "cameras and an ANN will be enough?" I agree with all of you, including Hugh. I think humans have proved "2 cameras and a NN" are good enough, but I also agree we...
