Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

The point isn't really about autopilot, though. It's about safety systems like FCW and AEB. If autopilot can't function in certain weather, neither will AEB.

Sentry mode only front camera activities recording

Adding a data point. Sentry mode hasn't work at all on our model 3 (early June delivery). It's turned on and keeping the car awake, but nothing manages to trip it. This is on both 2021.4.18.2 and 2021.4.18.3.

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

This is exactly what I've been saying all along (echo my experience in a rental Corolla) and always get shot down by the stans. And then in this thread, it was suggested that it must be because I don't know how to use a steering wheel 😂 I was actually having a decent experience with AP over the...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

This is the most pedantic reply I have ever seen on the internet. In fact, you aren't applying a torque, you're applying a force which is what the message actually says. You're applying a force that is tangential to to the steering wheel.

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

We took delivery late last week and I've tried vision-only autopilot here and there. The car is absolutely fantastic to drive. But... I really hope something is wrong with this particular car because autopilot is practically useless. Our chief complaints: Randomly will hug and sometimes drive...

Now it's just waiting for the recall in three years 🙄

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

I'm going to disagree with you here. Tesla continues to describe the features of Autopilot without caveats. However, people are finding that in practice, Autopilot doesn't work outside of perfect daytime conditions or with a lot of compromise. I think a better analogy would be that you ordered...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

I'm curious about the logic here. It's obvious that every driver assist system relying on the cameras (autopilot, automatic wipers, automatic high beams) is proving to be inadequate if not bad. The bigger deal is that very important and effective modern safety features (e.g. automatic emergency...

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

Tesla is lucky that it's able to deliver vehicles when competitors can't. In normal times, we would have cancelled our reservation by now but unfortunately need a car.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Woke up to the question about Tesla Vision, accepted and received a VIN. Ordered 4/30, Maryland deliver just outside of DC.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

This is about how the change impacts safety, e.g. automatic emergency braking. I expect everything about this car to be at least as good as a c-segment sedan the day it's delivered, otherwise what's the point?

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I have to say, not feeling very comfortable with the removal of radar. It's an important technology and I don't feel like asking my wife to beta test unproven safety features in a $50k car. Going to have to mull this one over and decide if we cancel our reservation.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Mine did the same -- went from 6/4-6/24 to 5/30-6/19.
