    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

That was me (and I ended up getting a Mach E). I'm excited to see this location. Stick one on the other side of Columbia near Clinton and the problem is solved.

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

I like that Munro does his videos, but I don't get much out of them for two reasons. First, and most importantly, I'm just not technical enough with my car knowledge to have any sense of whether his analysis makes sense or not. I would never tinker with my car. I pretty much buy it and drive...

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

I'd prefer a station west of Columbia out of that mess. Or if they really want to improve the network, stick one east of Columbia and then another one just south of Spartanburg.

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

I've already owned an EV, so I understand there is a tradeoff on road trip refueling convenience versus an ICE vehicle. I was just comparing one EV versus other EVs on a route I travel often.

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

The local Ford dealer called yesterday to let me know that they couldn't reach the person who pre-ordered a Mach E on their lot, so they would sell it. If I wanted it, it was mine with no wait. I wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the pick, so I drove to the Savannah sales center and...

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

I know what you mean on slower "fast" charging. My wife refuses to take our Bolt on this trip because it adds too much time to the trip (almost an hour) "fast" charging at 55 KW. Based on looking at maps of other places, it looks like the Supercharger network beats the combined other networks...

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

What CoastalMikey said. Driving from the coast (at sea level) to the mountains makes this impossible. Also, what is FUD?

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

I'm glad to know that I'm part of a vibrant I26 hole complainer community! CHAdeMO seems ok, but, as you mentioned, the Irmo facility only has one stall for CHAdeMO. Considering the error rate, it seems like a recipe for divorce to bank on that. Walterboro or St. George could be great for the...

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

Thanks. The time difference might have been due to the settings I selected (higher % needed on arrival) or using the exact addresses. You make good points though. This is a trip I will routinely take several times a year because we use a vacation home in the mountains, but it will definitely...

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

Of course not. But I'm not the only person traveling that route. In fact, lots of people in Florida go to the NC mountains (or vice versa) via this exact route and would face the same problem I'm describing. I-26 is the main interstate that connects SC with western NC. And is there a reliable...

Giving up on buying a Tesla because of the Supercharger situation?

I've had a deposit for a LR RWD Model Y for a while now. At the time I made the reservation, I was sure that Tesla would finally build a Supercharger on I-26 to plug a huge gap in the network. Having seen lots of Supercharger sites go up during this time and no news at all about I-26, I'm...
