You’re right. My mom’s model 3 (October 2021) soft closes from any height. Except the motor sounds atrocious. Like a very loud Electric motor whirring noise. She never bothered to schedule a service appointment to get that replaced though.

My trunk slams closed 100% of the time without the motor pulling it in. It only soft closes when I close the trunk gently by hand. I feel like it’s pretty normal. I secured my license plate and frame so it would sound as crisp as possible when the trunk slams closed.

This caused by the latest software update. I had this issue in a previous version and it went away. Now it’s back after updating the software. Tesla will probably resolve by software.

Same here. Problem came back after updating. It was gone for a while but this latest update brought the noise back.

I’ve seen behind the bumper before so I’m fairly certain it’s because the fog light was melted too aggressively on the bumper. The way Tesla mounts the fog light to the bumper is by melting the fog light’s plastic tab to the bumper.

Reliability won’t be an issue. In 2021, I flew to NorCal to pick up my 3 and drove down to SoCal same day. Made several more up and down trips the same year.

Yes. It’s top of the line ceramic when I got it July 2021. During that time 3M only had Crystalline tint which isn’t ceramic. Not sure how good their ceramic is now though.

No need for software update. Here’s the fix: Spray WD40 on the gas strut on the right-hand side of the trunk. Coat the thinner metal part of the strut. Then open and close the trunk a few times. This keeps the problem away for me for a good while.

I’ve noticed this too. I rebooted by holding down both of the steering wheel buttons and it seems to be ok for now.

Bought an existing inventory this morning. SR+, white/black, aero wheels. VIN is incredibly low at 001903. Can anyone else chime in what their number is like? I'm just worried this might be an old build that was fixed up and released back in the wild.
