Wiki Mega-consolidated delivery quality issues thread and checklist

Yes! The obvious defects people are reporting that weren't addressed on the outside is just the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot of defects to these cars "under the skin", and at this point I'm just going to be willfully ignorant about them as I just don't have the time or energy to be going...

21 inch from wheels making popping noise when turned to extreme?

FWIW I've never heard that sound you hear in your video at 0:05. I'd maybe get it checked if it... rubs you the wrong way. That awful creaking sound at 0:27 though, I've heard on mine. I went into service about it, they checked it out and reported it's normal, and it's from when the vehicle...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Can anyone with a recent delivery chime in on if they're putting all-seasons on the 21'' wheels now, and if so, what are they? Looked at the configurator recently and saw this: Edit: weird, I guess you need to upgrade now to see pictures? It was a screen shot of the configurator, click on...

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Can attest to this as I had my door gasket trim w/e replaced last year. On the bright side, this is in scope of mobile service. Beware this is one of those things that really separate techs who have attention to detail from those that don't. The trim comes as one giant connected loop that needs...

    Mileage on MSLR

throwing a data point in the mix: MSLR on 21'' wheels, about 8k miles and 15 months into ownership. Car shows range of 317 miles at 90% charge. Seems low but not really sweating it.

New charge port LED placement is horrendous.

Yeah, some people in the other refresh 2.0 thread seemed to love the new charge port design. Totally disagree though, it's comically big for an NA-Tesla charge port and loses the light ring, a small but distinguishing feature between the S/X vs. 3/Y. Yet another data pt showing the S/X are mere...

Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

As far as year over year updates go, this is tiny compared to normal gas cars and compared with MS 2020 to 2021. Think about how older model years continue to get OTA updates to keep up with the latest and greatest Tesla features on par with current model years. I for one love that I was one of...

Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

I looked at the pics again and... I agree with you. It will look sick. Found a pic of a pre-2015 MS with the inside of the headlights blacked out. Very clean look.

Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

No worries, I wasn't clear in my original post. I called it a plate holder thingy o_O Also, made a graphic to compare headlights, at least the aesthetics of them. IMO I prefer the look of the 2021 despite apparently sucking at their job vs. these new ones. The more pronounced inside...

Early '22 Exterior Refresh Tracking (Lights, Charging Door, Appliqué delete)

So confused. Temp plate was a piece of paper taped to the rear window. Real plates came in the mail for you to just screw on at home, at least in my state. @EndlessPlaid are you referring to the license plate frame (with model s written on it)? I'm not actually talking about that, I'm talking...

Happy for the new owners getting the updated taillights and headlights. I actually don't mind the older ones, but these are definitely an incremental step forward. One thing I don't like as much is the charge port update. I like the ring lighting around the older charge port... But it's a minor...

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Yeah, I think this is a common problem that I think has a no-win solution. Variations in the curvature of the rear door panels and/or the adjustments they made to increase the flaring I think cause this, and they deprioritized making the handles retract out fully and perfectly to accommodate...

Refresh Model S Tint / PPF / Ceramic Photos & Info

Slick AF dude. Might be first satin black MS pic I've liked so far. It's a fine line between cheap-looking matte black and really nice satin finishes. That said, I'm still team satin MSM :)

Door handles retracting and pinching fingers

There is not an active mechanism pulling it closed to avoid cutting ppls fingers off if it malfunctioned in any way. As poster mentioned above, it's just spring tension. Source: just look up YouTube videos of the mechanism.

I've never noticed the yoke buzz. Now I'm afraid to listen for it. ANR works decently IMO. Far from yhe Bose-level cancellation I was fantasizing about, but... better than nothing. It should probably just turn off if it detects a window open. Someone with their windows down obviously doesn't...

Cleaning the windshield Magic Eraser? Claybar? Invisible Glass?

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but this is EXACTLY the problem I've been having with my new Model S. Will be using clay to see if it works too, which I believe will be less abrasive than full-on orbital polishing using the polishing mixture. Note: definitely do not use newspaper, too...

MS 2021. Scratches on the windshield after scrub sponge.

I'm personally going to be using Griot's windshield clay to get rid of some weird spotting on the windshield all over (seems to only show up when wet).

MS 2021. Scratches on the windshield after scrub sponge.

Seconding Griots polisher. Something with a very mild abrasive in the mixture so you can smooth out the scratches you made. One thing I'm not 100% sure on is if Tesla coats the glass with anything from the factory, in which case you'd risk rubbing that off (but I don't think they do...).

    Model S Refresh Dash Removal/Lift?

I have this too intermittently when the temps swing. For me at least, I'm positive it's coming from the wood trim/chrome area because when I press it down on the wood trim the sound stops. Hmmmmmmmmm. Maybe due to the glass roof transferring heat out, causing temp differentials and thus drafts but... Have you perhaps looked inside the car, through the frunk's hinge area? When I say inside, I don't actually mean the interior, but the space between the interior and the exterior...

@Pandas752 - I'm sorry for your experience. I really am. Someone above said they clipped the logo. Not sure if I'm going to try that, but seems like there's a path forward for logo-haters. I believe this is what @DBV1 is referring to, where the dead pedal area doesn't go up all the way (please excuse the filth...):

Same here. Fits well enough and looks better than anything else out there IMO. Needed something for Seattle's fall and winter drudgery and couldn't wait. BTW reason I ask for a picture is I think I might have the same or similar problem. I only see it when the windshield is wet or damp - goes away when dry. Maybe try putting on some water and spreading it around with a microfiber, see if you see anything off. For reference, some other folks...
