Talk to me about automatic car washes

I've washed my X5-M and Volt with this very car wash and, after more than a year didn't see any noticeable damage. This is not to say that there wasn't something wrong but both vehicles looked the same after more than a year of using this car wash. That said the reason I posted asking about car...

Show me where in that cut and paste it asks a question other than "What year is your car". BMW fanboi...that explains it. Head over to Bimmerfest where your non constructive input is valued.

That wasn't the question you asked. Do you have anything worthwhile to contribute? You appear to be nothing buy a fanboi who apologizes for Tesla.

IMO they should fix it right the first time and not have to worry about doing it a second time. However if they can't do that then they should fix it until they get it right. If they decline to fix this under warranty then I will have just added yet another notch to ensure that prospective...

    Another Tesla Service Concern

All remaining warranty coverage should be extended to me as a buyer unless the warranty specifically prohibits it. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about their diagnosis given they have already sent me an estimate for $135. It appears that's the direction they're headed and they want to...

    Another Tesla Service Concern

My assumption is that Tesla will only charge me the fee if they determine the work is not covered under warranty and waive it if it is. However I scanned the cost estimate and I did not see anything which stated as much. Therefore I have no choice but to assume the fee will be charged...

    Another Tesla Service Concern

Somehow I feel this is going to be wasted effort but here goes: There's no damage. The car is in pristine condition. The service center shouldn't be providing any quotations for work that is going to be covered under warranty. Now if I go in and they determine that it's a non warranty related...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

The owners manual says to avoid them but I do not see any reason why Tesla would be any different than other vehicles. Someone mentioned camera alignment which seems reasonable but appeared to be more speculation there is an issue. It's nice to see some have taken their Tesla's through a non...

    Another Tesla Service Concern

Thank you for this information. I may do that depending on how they respond to my declination of the estimate. When I did so I noted the car is still under warranty and therefore there should be no cost estimate. Since that occurred yesterday I am going to give them a few days to respond. If not...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

Wow! A lot of great feedback from everyone! I appreciate the feedback about hand washing but that's not going to happen. I used to do that in the past and discovered that the interval between doing so was increasing over time. I may occasionally do a hand wash if circumstances warrant but I am...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

When you say automatic do you mean brushless? Or ones that use brushes? I have been washing my other cars with the brush car wash and nothing bad has happened. However wanted to get the feedback of others before doing so. Hand wash, as in getting out a hose and bucket, isn't going to happen. I...

Talk to me about automatic car washes

I have several options for automatic car washes and I am trying to decide what is the appropriate choice for my situation. First, I don't need to wash my car that often as I have another car which I drive during inclement weather. For this second vehicle I have a monthly membership which permits...

    Another Tesla Service Concern

IMO if a vehicle is under a bumper to bumper warranty then the repair estimate should be $0.00. In all of my years having vehicles repaired under warranty not a single one had an estimate for cost prior to the examination of the issue. This is, IMO, a black eye for Tesla.

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

The general compliant I see, at least with most Tesla owners, is not that their vehicles have had issues but rather the lack of communication from Tesla. Tesla has decided to take a unique, for now, approach to service: Do it all through the application. Not a bad way to do service requests but...

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

Outside of receiving some flyers for discounted oil changes in the mail I never got this impression from the Chevy dealer from which I purchased my Volt. I had to take my Volt in twice for service and neither time did the service advisor try to sell me on anything. In fact, since the vehicle was...

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

IOW lower your expectations. Prior to purchasing my Tesla I had an X5 and a Volt. Both BMW and Chevy treated me well when I had to service the vehicles. BMW provided a loaner vehicle no matter how long (or short) the service was to take. Chevy provided a loaner vehicle if the service was to...

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

That's exactly why I said Tesla's behavior is unacceptable. They have the means to fix it, they just won't prioritize it because they already have his money. Maybe they'll try and get more from him by suing him for posting about his issue here.
  27. S

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

If they can source parts to build a new vehicles then they should pull inventory for a new build and use it to fix a customers two month old car. Or give him a loaner Tesla. Or exchange it with a new one. We're not talking about a piece of door trim that doesn't disrupt the operation of the...

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

That's not the impression I have been left with. That said I find it completely unacceptable that a car that has less than 800 miles on it had a failure which the manufacturer cannot provide a means to repair or replace.

Brand New M3.... Towed away today

I would like to see the reviewers (such as Car and Driver) mention this in their reviews. When I was researching Tesla they focused on the driving characteristics and touched on the issues they had while driving (for long term reviews). I expect Tesla to treat C&D better than us plebs but C&D...

Very disappointed to hear this about Tesla. When I was first considering buying a pure EV vehicle Tesla was an obvious choice but I was concerned about the longevity of the company. Never did I think they would treat customers as they have. Then there's this: Tesla China Sues Model S Owner For...

Please help me figure out my charging costs

There's no defeat. I am not trying to be snarky here...it costs what it costs to operate his vehicle. Period. As for advice I gave him the only advice he has control over: Charge at a lower rate if such an option is available. What other options does he have reasonable control over (i.e. I...

Please help me figure out my charging costs

And? If driving his car resulted in an additional $250/month in his electric bill what can he do to change it? Unless he suspects a fault in the vehicle which is drawing more power than it should the only thing he has control of is charging at a lower tier (if that's an option). Otherwise it...

Please help me figure out my charging costs

A lot of information here but in the end it costs what it costs to charge the vehicle. About the only control you have is to charge at lower rates if that option is available to you (i.e. at night if rates are lower). Otherwise I wouldn't concern myself with it and just enjoy the car.

Farmers insurance compared to Tesla insurance?

And you believed them? Seriously though I would not trust them. I called them about my battery concerns and they said they were looking at the charging history of the vehicle. Said I wasn't letting it run down much...which is true since I drive very little each day and, as recommended by the...

    New owner, styling thoughts?

I can't speak to aftermarket appearance modifications but I initially (defined as when it was first released) wasn't too thrilled about the styling of the Model 3. Especially the Aero wheels (or more specifically, the Aero wheel covers). However it has grown on me over time, enough so that I am...

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

That doesn't explain why. Also, to my knowledge, the USB drive used for the dashcam is dedicated to that purpose. If I want music I use a different USB drive. Again: Your defense of the current behavior is puzzling when the suggested solution takes nothing away from what is available now.

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

I used an inexpensive Micro Center branded 32GB microSD card in my BlackVue DR650S for somewhere around four years. It is now in my DR750S dashcam. Still working fine with four years of continue writing. Regardless whichever method is used the writing is the same. Only difference is the extra...

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

What I have failed to see is a semi reasonable explanation as to why the files are proactively erased. They should just be left on the drive until space is required, then remove them in a circular fashion. Your defense of the existing behavior is puzzling.
  44. S

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

The main use for USB is irrelevant. I can see only one reason for removing all the files after they've aged out an hour: So there is no "evidence" of any potentially "bad behavior". Otherwise I see no benefit to just leaving them on the USB drive and overwriting them as space requires. There are...

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

Mine, a BlackVue DR750S-2CH does exactly this. It continues to consume space until it is completely used and then begins to overwrite existing files starting with the oldest file. If I were to pull the microSD card from the camera and insert it into my computer it would be almost at full...

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

I am puzzled by the behavior of the dashcam. I have a BlackVue in my other car and it does exactly what you described: When the microSD card fills it begins to overwrite files starting with the oldest. It also records date and time (not sure if the Tesla cameras do because when I went to check I...

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

It may be being obsoleted but it's not obsolete now. Many people still use it and I don't think it unreasonable to add an option to purchase it at the time the vehicle is being ordered.
  49. S

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

IMO the OPs largest issue was not with any of the individual things he listed but rather how the Tesla experience has deteriorated so much since he purchased his Model S. IMO this was the primary reason he started this thread.

    Very disappointing new M3 experience

This is foolish. I agree it should be an orderable option when purchasing the car. Are there any other "features" available I may not be aware of?
