Sick: Cat and dog torture videos litter Twitter, adding to concerns about moderation I do not even want to see this. Although I do want to see the people who did it convicted of animal cruelty and sentenced to death in a blender. It's bad enough when humans attack and kill other humans who can...

    Elon & Twitter

Sounds like Twitter's lawyers talked to Elon and reminded him that: 1. This guy just cost Rupert Murdoch $787.5M 2. Section 230 only applies to third parties 3. If Twitter signs a contract with him, he's no longer a third party, which makes Twitter liable for everything he says By getting this...

Exactly. It's not worth the hours of my life I'd lose reading Twitter and fact checking all of the crap on there. I have better things to be doing than constantly telling stupid people that they're stupid.

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

I charge to 100% so I roll out of my garage with the maximum range, and I drive it until I either run out of juice or want to stop for a meal. In the San Joaquin Valley on I-5 (speeds of 85-95 mph), 120-150 miles is only about 75-90 minutes. Last road trip I did well southbound because I...

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

Yeah but the Model Y isn't a workhorse truck, it's a crossover and passenger vehicle. It's not suited for hauling heavy items from one farm/warehouse to another or for towing a trailer. Sure, it can tow, but it can only tow small objects (it only has a class 2 tow hitch). Try redesigning it with...

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

Increasing the size of the battery is really the only solution to the problem. You're discussing the energy density of the battery itself and this is why there's so much research going into making batteries that can store more energy in less mass. The latter isn't going to happen because you...

The "wardrobe malfunction" was from the halftime show, which the network had no responsibility for AFAIK. The network wouldn't have any responsibility if a fan had streaked the field during the game either. But what if a YouTube employee had said something during that broadcast that was...

    Elon & Twitter

YT has actually streamed live sporting events I believe. I'm not sure if it was a mirror of a TV channel or if it was its own stream, but they did so under license from the league. If something had been said in that broadcast that was defamatory, would YT be liable for it? Or maybe this hasn't...

    Elon & Twitter

I'm wondering what happens when, for example, YouTube live streams content from a TV channel. Or would Tucker just be liable personally for defamation? The difference between platform and publisher gets blurred if a platform is used to publish content.

So let's say this deal goes through and Tucker goes on Twitter keeps doing what he was doing at Fox. Would Twitter, and Elon Musk, be liable for defamation? Because Elon has even deeper pockets than Rupert Murdoch...

    Elon & Twitter

Well it looks like Twitter is trying to get into a space that's very crowded and is a smaller market than the one they formerly occupied. Does Elon really think there's enough people in the market currently occupied by Parler, Gab, etc. for a company like Twitter? Parler and Gab cater to a niche...

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

To be fair though, the efficiency depends on the resistance of the wiring used as well as its length. My WC is connected to the panel with about 25-30' of 4 gauge NM-B. If they used 100' of 6 gauge THWN in their test setup, they're going to see much higher resistive losses.
  14. S

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

People buying giant trucks don't really care about efficiency any more than people buying pickups care about gas mileage. It might be considered but it's not the first priority or you wouldn't be buying a giant truck in the first place. The market for trucks is different than the market for sedans.

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

It's not so much about overnight charging as it is about keeping SoC set to 50% or lower for daily use to keep degradation low and needing to get up to some higher level ASAP because you decided to go on a trip on short notice. And the bigger the battery, the longer it takes. And in the future...

Twitter can be a source of information on recent events, which is what news outlets seek to write their articles. If someone is on-site at a newsworthy event and tweets about it, it can be used as a source of information (and hopefully with a standard disclaimer of "the information in the tweet...

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

Interesting. Was there a table/graph given? How much less efficient was it at 48A vs 24-32A? And I wonder if this also applies to the Model 3 or if increasingly power hungry computers (even the Atom may consume more power than the old Model S computers but specially the Ryzen CPU) have pushed...

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

Yeah I understand that the outlet will never support more than 50A non-continuous, but an outlet can easily be swapped out for a hardwired connection, and if I had 3 gauge wiring, I could easily put a 80A EVSE there. But it sounds like this would have caused issues installing the 14-50 outlet in...

    Electrify Everything

The resiliency argument isn't a good one, as anything serious* that takes down the electrical grid is likely to take down the NG distribution system at the same time. You get resiliency by pairing a generator with on site fuel storage. If you have a NG-connected generator and expect it to...

    Some questions about 14-50 receptacles

Yep, that's what I have. 4/3 NM-B for the 60A WC circuit. Although: I wonder if I should have done 3 gauge THWN instead of 4 gauge NM-B so I could go up to a full 100A (80A continuous) in the future. What I'm not sure about is whether the connections on the WC or my Hubbell 14-50 outlet will...

The seller need not know about it; if a contractor the seller hired did the work, the seller is presumed to know and the knowledge is imputed to the seller regardless of whether the contractor actually told the seller or not (Massei v. You sure about that? It looks like for 50°C/9.3 months, the local maximum in degradation around 80% is gone, and it's monotonically increasing after 70%. Who knows what happens after say 12 months or 18 months, or at 25°C for 50 months, etc.?

The idea that Twitter will ever replace Youtube is a joke. I have a Youtube channel and I'd never think about replacing it with Twitter. First of all, most of the people who want to watch my videos do so because they're looking for a certain type of content (specifically, Disney shows and...

It's worse than just the carbon emissions. They're making the rest of us disproportionately pay for the FAA. Private jets account for about 16-17% of flights but pay just 2% of the taxes that fund the FAA. Commercial airlines have a 7.5% tax on airfares that funds the FAA and also pay taxes on...

500% tax on natural gas would fix that ROI really quick. They should make it more expensive to pull carbon out of the ground than it is to create hydrocarbon fuels with renewable energy, carbon capture, and chemical processes, unless it's really necessary to be using hydrocarbon fuels in the...

Do i have to keep it plugged in everyday?

Yeah, and I understand why Tesla gives the advice it does. But here is where people come to learn and I'll give advice for optimal battery management, along with the reasoning and a warning that if you don't charge to 100% before driving below 20%, you may get stranded. Last month, I was at...

Do i have to keep it plugged in everyday?

Yeah but 50 miles/week on commuting? That's going to be a significant portion of time spent above 70%. Which means charging to 100% should really be done only before a drive that consumes at least 30% of the battery. With my vehicle (NCA batteries), I only charge to 100% 3 or 4 times a year...

Do i have to keep it plugged in everyday?

But with a daily commute of just 10 miles, that battery is going to be forever above 50%, even if it's charged to 100% just once a week.
