I inspected my car quite carefully using a checklist and a lot of scrutiny. I found only a tiny misalignment that any car company would send through and was not worth mentioning. Otherwise, the car was completely up to par.

The good news is there was not a single QC issue with car.

Tesla called me yesterday and said delivery would be in the afternoon instead of the schedule morning drop off time. So I just left to go grab a quick bite to eat, and I see that the car was delivered at 10:25 while I was not home.

Great car, atrocious customer service. That’s what lack of competition allows. But those days will be ending soon with a new crop of great EVs from other companies. Let’s see if Tesla ups its game.

My EDD was 9/24-30, now I get a VIN and they change EDD to 9/22-28. No way is there a delivery today.

I have put up with a lot of crazy, but really never untying like this. It's hard to understand why Tesla has not upped its game in this area. Some other company will come a long and peel off a lot of customers.

No September text. I almost switched to a B/W demo and now it's gone too. I see people in LV getting VINs, so maybe I'm next? Yeah, dream on.

My EDD changed form 9/20-9/30 to 9/24-9/30 this morning, consistent with what I learned from calling Tesla.

Which also quite a few of us are determined to get our cars on or before 9/30. Missing that date often means a lengthy delay.

Huh, I just called the same number and got the same questions I just identified, but not parts. Also, I ordered online in AZ and have an SA, although he never identified himself as such. I received a text right after ordering that said use this number to contact me.

For cars, please presss "1." Then, "for new vehicles, please press "2." Then you are asked to speak what you are calling about. I just said "inquiring about information for delivery status" or something like that. Then I was put in a queue and repeatedly offered the option of a call back, but...

I've discovered that my SA is a cheerleader exuding wishful thinking. After telling me my VIN will arrive "any moment now," I called Tesla and waited in the queue for 20 minutes. The representative was very helpful and used a "special tool" to check status. Good news is I should have a VIN...

Happy for; bummer for me. Reserved on 8/28 and no realistic EDD insight. Each time I approach the earliest of the EDD dates, Tesla moves it further out.

BTW — you know if you look at the source code behind your account management page for your Tesla, you can search for 5YJ, which is the start of all Tesla VINs. On Safari, use cmd-opt-u to view source, or it’s in the developer tab. Other browsers or Windows have a similar function. Apparently...

EDD now 9/20-30. When I suggested to Tesla that the last EDD, which started 9/18, was unrealistic because a Saturday delivery would require paperwork and financing be completed by Friday, I didn’t get a response. So now the EDD is Monday, as if financing can be completed over the weekend...

Restaurant wait staff, upon realizing a customer's dinner has not been prepared after 45 minutes: "your order is next up after that large party that came in before you." But there is a difference between a $20 restaurant tab and a $60,000 vehicle.

And to be more confounding, after the above call, my SA texted that I should have a VIN next week, notwithstanding what the Tesla rep says, and notwithstanding the EDD. Can't make this stuff up.

I called the above number and was on hold for a while, but eventual a representative got on the line and was very helpful. When i ordered my car, the EDD was 5-7 weeks. Then Tesla switched EDD to 9/14-30. After 9/14 came and went, they switched to 9/18-30. Somehow I sensed what is going on...

There is a critical flaw in your reasoning: the assumption that Tesla will ever tell you what is going on. The SA’s worthlessness is a design feature, not a bug. The one and only consideration for Tesla is maximizing deliveries to get third quarter numbers up. Nothing else matters, including...

My guess is Tesla want to make sure the maximum number of cars are delivered before the end of the quarter. That’s why they are asking if people can accept delivery in September or not.

When I said EDD 9/20, I didn’t mean that was the DD, only that EDD of 9/18-30 is kind of misleading; it should be 9/20-30.

Mine now is 9/18-30. However, 9/18 and 9/19 are weekend days so there would be no way to transfer down payment funds until 9/20. It’s a nice marketing effort, but realistically the EDD for us both should be 9/20 unless we miraculously receive notice of weekend delivery before the weekend.
