What is this high pitched cricket like noise?

What does everyone think about filing a complaint with the NHTSA? Safety concerns over bearing/DU failure at high speeds? I just had it in today for a trunk leak, could not find leak…. 🙄 as for the noise; same ole…they’re willing to die on this hill; “Verified customer concern. The noise is...

What is this high pitched cricket like noise?

Looks like someone has been tweeting @ Elon on X using #squeakytesla maybe we should all start retweeting it.

What is this high pitched cricket like noise?

I was told the same thing except that engineering is “working on a fix”. What I want to know; are they actively seeking a solution or are they just telling us that to keep this from proceeding down a different path. If they’re working on one, fine. If they’re not; that’s a problem.

What is this high pitched cricket like noise?

Just picked up the MY at the SC. I spoke to the advisor about my frustrations. I didn’t expect anything (info or a solution) and I didn’t get that. He did say that he has seen similar strange noises in early model year MS that were fixed with a firmware update. Not sure why I’m even posting...

What is this high pitched cricket like noise?

I’d like to memorialize myself in this thread as one of the “victims of the chirp”. Had it at SC today before I’d found this thread. The tech heard it and I noticed a slight change in his demeanor, a bit more guarded perhaps. After reading this thread for 2 hours, I think I see why. I got the...

    Help understanding preconditioning

Makes sense. I’ve not done a ton of long trips but I’m learning the ropes. For instance that screenshot I attached, I got home with 35% so a 100% charge definitely isn’t needed. The part that throws things off a bit is the dead of winter when it’s super cold, but for spring-fall I’m figuring it out.

Ah ha, makes sense. Case closed!

    Help understanding preconditioning

My question is out of naivety. The last couple of long trips I’ve gone on, I’ve always scheduled the departure in the app to precondition the battery. Each time, the regen braking has never been available. I though preconditioning would prep the battery for regen braking, but that’s not been...

    Windshield woes

In the forum I found some people mention C-Bond. I’ll try anything this point so I ordered a kit for $75 ($20 s/h)

I’ve wondered if something like that exists. I’d be willing to try it, if so.

How many windshields have you replaced on your Tesla?

Great point! I can't seem to figure out how to edit the dang thing.

    Windshield woes

My example is anecdotal, for sure. But my 5 day old windshield that cracked two days ago has really got me wondering. It IS possible that the install, mfg and durability IS a Tesla problem. Just like it WAS a Subaru problem. I'm trying to see if there are any dots to connect here.

How many windshields have you replaced on your Tesla?

Once or twice seemed like bad luck, but by number 4 it got me wondering....

    Windshield woes

I also see distortion in mine. Luckily it’s on the passenger side. I just can’t justify continual replacement of these. Literally 5 days after the new one was installed there was a chip and crack. I don’t know how long insurance will continue to reimburse me and not looking forward to what my...

How many windshields have you replaced on your Tesla?

Going on 4 windshields on my MY in 15 months. Curious to know how everyone else is faring?

    Windshield woes

Well; 15 months of ownership and 19,000 miles. Last week was my third windshield replacement. Yesterday, apparently I picked up a tiny pebble and a chip and crack ensued. Hopefully Safelite and repair it, the drives to the SC are far too frequent. Am I the only one? 3 (possibly 4) windshields...

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

I got a message back from the service center that informed me the retrofit to enable CCS isn’t available.

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

It’s worth adding as a follow up here regarding my gripes…..spoke to regional service manager, he’s hooking me up with a loaner and a $500 service credit. I would have been happy with a loaner so, this is above what I’d expected. It’s a nice turn of events and I should give credit where it’s due.

Is this much thread drift legal? 🤣🤣
  21. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

Well, It’s been an enlightening discussion. I can see logical answers for both sides now. Tesla just does stuff different. Buy your Model Y, we assign a vin and we’ll see what little features you may or may not get. I actually wish I knew this was a thing before ordering, but it wouldn’t have...

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

No, I’m agreeing with you. Like some said, I didn’t even know what it was when I bought it. But when you’re standing in line behind someone that got CSS compatibility on their model Y for the same price I paid, I want it too. That’s all.

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

I guess my collection of 400 should suffice now I guess 🤣
  24. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

Might as well continue to derail my own thread :) I prefer Toledo, actually. That was the first place I took it for the trunk leak. They said after this, if that doesn’t fix it, have to go to a service center with a body shop. Did that, still leaks (and window still intermittent). ***start...

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

You’re right, I didn’t know. But now I do, so your point being? And now I know some people have it and some people don’t. I’m not angry, I’m just surprised that this is legal that people pay the same amount of money for a product and some get certain things others don’t. For instance, I don’t go...

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

That’s always what rubbed me the wrong way about this. A bunch of people with what they thought was the same car, but turns out have totally different features. I’m actually surprised this is legal and by saying that it doesn’t imply I’m thinking about suing. But, the point was raised, where...

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

Thanks for this! I didn’t know that was a thing. They did replace the motor and window mechanism last time, and I assume they recalibrated it the. However, I’ll give this a *sugar* and see how it does. Thank you!
  28. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

I’m not sure really what else to tell you, other than I wasn’t planning on suing. I was curious.
  29. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

Yes. Becuase who would sue over a $140 part?
  30. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want a car that keeps the water out, is it? I’m not suing anyone over it….that has nothing to do with my question about the legality of excluding certain things in its production.
  31. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

@jjrandorin I have no intent, nor did I ever contemplate suing for a $140 part. Why would someone spend thousands for a $140 part? Just because that’s your interpretation doesn’t mean that was my intent.
  32. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

It wasn’t necessarily that a newer car had it, it’s that older models have it. I have a 2021 LR, and I know deliveries previous to mine had it. I just didn’t realize they swapped things and out depending on the run. But, now I know!
  33. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

@mngoalie Please cite where anyone mentioned suing (aside from your post). Questioning the legality of something doesn’t imply one wants to sue.
  34. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

Had no idea there were such differences in production runs. I have a heated steering wheel, didn’t know some do not.
  35. P

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

I disagree with network coverage. I was just in a part of the country that made the trip challenging with quite a long charge stop. I arrived with 3% and had to drive rather slow to make it work. Meanwhile, I passed up two locations with ChargePoint rapid chargers on the way. To me, having CCS...

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

What a downer……this along with my 3rd scheduled SC visit, I’m not totally thrilled with my Tesla experience the last 11 months. Trunk leaks (still) and my driver side window intermittently stops on the way up and goes back down automatically. The no CCS compatibility is the icing on the cake.

    No CCS compatibility; legal?

Has anyone checked the legality of some model Y’s having CCS compatibility and some not? I don’t understand how it’s allowed that when order a base model, same as the rest, mine doesn’t come with CCS but someone else’s does. I don’t recall a specific agreement saying this was ok, so what gives...
