Why am I seeing ads from other auto makers that encourage no monitoring of vehicle while driving?

What happens in the future will need to be addressed when the future becomes a reality. Until then, the person sitting behind the wheel is responsible for the vehicle's operation.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Yes, FSD 12.x has been more aggressive than typical humans in stopping for yellow lights. A bit too aggressive I think, at the risk of contributing to a rear end collision.

Why am I seeing ads from other auto makers that encourage no monitoring of vehicle while driving?

While the MB system is available, it is extremely limited. It only works on certain highways in slow traffic with a car ahead of the MB and, as I recall, it makes no lane changes. It's basically a system to get you through a traffic jam. But, under those conditions where it can be enabled, it...

    FSD now $99 a month

I expect to subscribe on my MY after it gets the V12 trial. It's getting even harder to wait patiently on 2024.8.9 now.

How to deal with phantom braking?

Disengage FSD, then submit a voice report at the prompt.
  6. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It does appear that the OG/influencer group is back in favor again.
  7. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Teslafi already shows an M3 with HW3 getting this version, so most likely will actually be pushed out to everyone on 2024.3.10. Probably some improvements, even if the release notes don't mention anything. Maybe reduced curbage.
  8. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

In such case, simply disengage before the exit and reengage after it has been passed. Car reroutes and off you go.

    Noise notification when using FSD

If you are in a 'difficult situation', your hands on the wheel should be keeping nags at bay.
  10. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Also tried the fabled window up button to clear the wheel nag. Also did not work.
  11. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

There was a posting earlier (I think on this thread) that in the absence of a route, you could direct the car's turning behavior at a stop sign by holding the turn signal down in the direction you want the car to turn. I tried doing this today. In my neighborhood, I picked a Tee intersection...

    FSD (Supervised) Camera Calibration

No camera recalibration should be required for FSD updates. Create a second profile without FSD enabled and you can switch on the fly if you insist on running the ancient TACC.
  13. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Switch back to TACC instead of simply rolling up the speed? How curious.

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

I have a cheap aliexpress EV charge cable zip-up bag that is about the same size as the one that came with my mobile connector. I use it to store my MC adapter collection and the CCS adapter. Cost is trivial. Just takes a couple weeks to arrive. I keep it, and the mobile connector bag in the...
  15. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Using the turn signal to influence a turn at an intersection has never been a feature. It sounds like you just had random turns that sometimes correlated to your turn signal use.

2023 model Y not getting FSD trial! WHY?

11.1 is the GUI version, not FSD. If you have FSD, it should be 11.4.9.
  17. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I came upon a construction zone with 12.3.3 today. My lane was closed on a two-lane highway with flagmen directing traffic through the opposing lane in turns. The car smoothly crossed the double yellow lane to follow the car ahead and directions from the flagman, then crossed back into the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I did some testing on Texas State Highway 66 where the road is two lane with speed limits of 65 and 70 mph. The car runs the V11 stack here but, like other similar roads, did not pick up on the 65 mph or 70 mph speed limit signs, so needed to roll up the speed to an appropriate level. Earlier in...

What is the next update from 2024.8.7?

Your one month free trial should begin once you install a 12.x version of FSD. Until then, be patient.
  20. S

2023 model Y not getting FSD trial! WHY?

If your MY is on 2024.8.7 (so is mine), then you will need to be patient until Tesla releases a newer version. Perhaps this will be FSD 12.4. Fortunately, my M3 was on the beta test branch and has 12.3.3, which has been fantastic. Two drives today with zero interventions!

    Battery temperature?

A 4 mile trip is not a good case for evaluating energy usage. However, using much more energy on the return than the outgoing leg would generally point to something other than battery temperature. That is, unless you drove the first leg in the warm afternoon and returned in the early morning...

    FSD (Supervised) Camera Calibration

It's been this way for a long time. At least a year, maybe longer.
  23. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

12.3 had a tendency to fake a lane change when the gap was too small. It felt like it did it on purpose to get the trailing car in the other lane to make room. The scary part was that's exactly what happened and FSD got enough room for the lane change. Happened multiple times. I haven't used...
  24. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

12.3 was pretty good with stop signs. It seems like this hesitation came in on 12.3.1 and carried forward to 12.3.3. It's possible that Tesla has added extra caution since 12.3.3 is going out to a lot of new users.
  25. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Have you seen the same problem for rural highways with speed limits of 70+ mph? I haven't had a chance to check these yet. Need to get a bit further from home. 12.3 was OK with 65 mph signs. This is new for 12.3.3.
  26. S

2024.8.4 doesn't see speed signs anymore

On open highway, FSD 12.x still often uses V11. Perhaps you should let us know which stack was running. The lane drift at 80 mph was almost certainly using the V11 stack, not V12, so you should expect that same errors. Same for flashing yellow lights at high speeds. If you want to experience...
  27. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Most likely kept the speed a bit higher for 'keeping up with traffic flow'.

Free Trial FSD, What DoYou Think About It?

There are a lot of US cars on 2024.8.7. I have a MY on this version patiently waiting to get FSD V12.
  29. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I had FSD 12.3.3 take me for a ride on some high speed rural highways. I quickly found a big problem with the V11 stack. On the two lane state highways I used, None of the 65 mph speed limit signs were recognized by the V11 stack. I find that FSD switches to V11 stack at 65 mph outside of city...
  30. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The easist way to discern the difference is to have Auto Max Speed enabled. Since V11 does not use Auto Max you can instantly tell which is in use by the set speed indicator.
  31. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Second set of drives in a row with zero interventions. A couple hours each. And this is on the 12.3 wheel eater. Both drives were typical types of drives through suburban/exurban/rural roads including state highways, rural highways, county roads and city streets. V11 never performed this well...

    Battery temperature?

Few people are really interested in monitoring their battery temperature and it's not necessary. But, if you would like to do so, you can install a bluetooth ODB adapter, get the ScanMyTesla app for your phone and monitor any number of low level vehicle parameters.

    Autopilot improvement in 2024.x?

Don't do it! You'll get hooked and won't go back to the old AP.

    Trash Cans/Squeegees at Superchargers

Many SC sites are at gas stations, so these have trash cans and (usually) windshield cleaning supplies nearby, if not at the SC sites. At the Buc-ees I've been to, there are trash bins, but no squeegees/water at the SC stalls. Curious that Buc-ees doesn't give the EV driver quite the same...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

About 25% of the fleet is on 2024.8.7, so I expect Tesla to release an update for them soon. That will provide an upgrade path for just about everyone.
  36. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It's possible that Tesla is prioritizing the new autopark for those non-USS cars that have been waiting to get ANY form of autopark.
  37. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

There are already over 400,000 users of FSDb who were not accustomed to the dangers when they began using it. And, FSDb was much worse when they did start using it then it is for new users today. Every time FSDb access has been expanded, there have been predictions of mass mayhem. But, somehow...
  38. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

You mean, the way that they've communicated such things to us over the entire course of FSDb development?

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

I've had it write really good looking code that uses non-existent API calls. When I point them out, it will happily rewrite the code to use new non-existent API calls. The recipes are more reliable.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

It's actually really good at creating cooking recipes. Seriously. Best use for it.
  41. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I've already been driving it almost two weeks now. I was in the second wave of 12.3. So, I have quite a few miles on it now. It does sort of make sense that Tesla can take advantage of crowd sourced vehicle telemetry for auto speed. The cars don't even need to be running FSD. If they can...
  42. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I still have 12.3, but I find I rarely need to boost the speed anymore. It's almost like the car remembers those accelerator pushes and uses them as an input to the E2E system. Even better might be if the cloud distributed data on where everyone is pushing the accelerator and the cars used that...

    I'm Confused by Version Control

Be patient. They're just getting started. It will be coming to a Tesla near you soon.
  44. S

    Autopilot vs FSD

Why you should: As you age, and your driving abilities inevitably decline, FSD will make your driving safer. It may help you drive further and longer than you might otherwise. Using FSD now will allow you to get used to how it drives and learn where you can, and cannot, trust it. I believe that...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

Elon's timelines should generally be taken as aspirational, at best. I always shift the duration units to the next level. Week becomes month. Month becomes year. And year becomes decade. I find this makes his (and any other CEO's) predictions much more accurate.
  46. S

    Cruise

Maybe the cost to fix the Blazer EV software fiasco is dragging on them. But, yes, GM should probably try to offload Cruise to someone who is willing to commit to its success. As it is, and given GM's backing off on UltraCruise ADAS, it's clear that GM does not see vehicle autonomy a critical...

    Cruise

Given all the issues, and need to reinvent itself, slicing $1B out of the budget seems like the hard way to get back on the road.
  49. S

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I have 12.3 and have driven 12.3.1 and got the same old nags. No change in frequency.

What's next for Tesla FSD? Reversing

    I don't think that 2024.8.7 has FSD 12 included.
