When you try to book the self serve demo-drive at the Maine Mall it is no longer available. I'm seriously looking into a new car and having to go to MA for a test drive is not appealing.
That is good to know. I'll keep an eye out to see what type of pedestal is installed. It looks like all the new electrical work is done on the southbound side. I drive by these every workday so I'll keep looking for changes.
I saw construction fence on the northbound side as well. It looks like 4 are being added there as well. Before winter both sides should have 12 spots to charge.
I doubt that Hannaford would install EV chargers that are specific to one car brand. I do know that they have installed chargers at their stores.
Disclaimer: I work at their corporate office but have no insight to their store plans for adding more ev chargers.
The southbound chargers are open as well. You need to go through the too like you are getting on the turnpike. Then make a left and follow that road until the second right. The super chargers will be right there for you to use.
Just wanted to add this link that I saw. It looks like they built the infrastructure to handle more changers at a later time. The additional chargers should be open to other electric vehicles. I also enjoyed the last bit of the article.
Tesla charging stations now at Kennebunk service plazas...
I just want to thank everyone. I always thought this sure would be perfect for superchargers. I remember watching the supercharger reveal and am in a little bit of disbelief that there are some in my backyard.
Hear ye hear ye. This is the latest update from the south bound Kennebunk charger. Tent Jackson was live on site and captured the following pictures.
Based on what you see the chargers look to be alive. I mean live. If anything with a Tesla wants to try them to confirm. You can legal get to...
They didn't look lit up when I went by yesterday and there is nothing on Tesla.com. I will try to drive by tonight or tomorrow to see if there is a change
All the construction equipment has been cleared out. There are construction cones blocking off the chargers. It looks like they need to paint the parking lines. It didn’t look like the Tesla logo was lit up but it can’t be long now.
Wow what a difference a day makes. Paving, fencing, and landscaping are all done. It looks ready to be ready very soon. Hopefully the electricity will be peered on soon. I'll keep looking everyday after work.
All the pedalstals were installed. They also had the fence posts in for the fence around the charger. Still waiting on paving and some other landscaping.
An electric crew from MA was there installing the pedalstals. They had 4 installed around 4:30 today. Materials were also brought in to build the fence around the chargers. No pics since they were still working.
No pictures but they did more concrete work. I also think they ran the wires from the chargers to where the pedalstals will go. I noticed large black trash bags over the conduits.
Concrete was poured for the sidewalk and the transformer was placed. Landscaping still needs to be down with a little bit of concrete work. The paving still needs to be completed along with the electrical work.
Workers were still there at 6 tonight. I didn't get a chance to stop since they were there. I did drive by slowly but did not see much change from yesterday. It looked like they were doing site prep.
I'll speculate and say they are going to get the paving and landscape work done so the...
Thanks for looking that up. I should have realized the area code was out of state. I still think there is a outside chance this get done by the 4th of July. It depends on weather and inspections. This side does have more paving the northbound did not need.
Glad to hear that it worked well for you. I made the same mistake thinking that you could get to the northbound chargers from the local roads. I illegally went through a Do Not Enter sign when taking the northbound pictures.
You can get to the southbound chargers from local roads. I made sure...
Not much of a change on the southbound side. They got more prep work done. I only drove past the rear of the construction site but didn’t see a company name. I’ll try to drive around the front next week.
Based on how quick they finished northbound, southbound might be done by the 4th. There will be paving needed which was not required on the northbound side.
Wow! That was fast. I’ll keep looking for progress southbound. I do know that you can get to the southbound chargers from roads other than the turnpike. I don’t have a Tesla so I can’t test them.
There is no more plastic on the northbound chargers and there was a crew working on the pedestals. It looks like they were installing the cables.
No change to the southbound chargers.
The construction fence around the northbound chargers was not there this morning. The pedestals still had plastic on them. The door to the fenced in charger area was open. I will keep looking for a meter and/or the Tesla logo lit up on the pedestals.
Whoops! I drove through the employee lot and should not have. Nevermind about getting to the northbound chargers while going south. I don't think that it will take too long to open southbound after northbound. It will all come down to the final inspections.
Thanks. Good to know. Northbound should be lit up first. I don't think there will be many changes to how it looks .There was someone working on it this morning.
I'll keep an eye on southbound for changes. I would guess that once they are done working on the other side they will move over to...
I was able to stop and get some pictures. Let me know if there is something you want to see that I didn't get. I will also check my EZ-Pass statement to see if I was charged to visit the plaza.
These are from the northbound plaza. It is much farther along then the other side. I think all the...
I’ll test it this week. I have ezpass and will go to the service plazas to take pictures. I won’t enter or exit the plazas from the Maine turnpike. I’ll check my ezpass statement to see if I am charged. I know that if you pay cash you will not be refunded the $1.
I think the previous comment was about accessing the super chargers from outside the turnpike and not paying the toll. Once the weather is better I will go to both and get pictures. In addition to the super chargers there is battery backup as well. Looks like 4 powerpacks on each side of the...
You can get to the superchargers from roads other than the turnpike. Either direction you do need to go through a tollbooth. If using cash you would need to pay the dollar. You might not get charged if to use E-ZPass .
Edit: I will test E-ZPass for both northbound and southbound this week.
Trying. End of the school year is tough. Maybe I can get out early one morning to get pictures.
Northbound has trenching and a cement pad for the transformer. There is no super charger hardware.
Southbound is further along. The transformer is placed and there are the insides of 8 super...
