What is a "Relay/Contactor Fault" Indication on Gen 2 Mobile Connector?

Hi. Just an update. Got the UMC changed and the problem is still occurring. Waiting on the electrician appointment to have the panel looked at. Thanks

What is a "Relay/Contactor Fault" Indication on Gen 2 Mobile Connector?

Thanks for the reply. I did a lot more testing last night by switching outlets and even using different connectors on the UMC. 5-15, 14-30, 14-50... All having the same issues. I'll try to change the UMC with hope that works for me.

What is a "Relay/Contactor Fault" Indication on Gen 2 Mobile Connector?

Howdy. Just letting everyone here know this issue is still popping up. I'm experiencing the same issue in Florida. I actually had more faith in tesla than I did in my home... Ended up changing the dryer outlet I was using from a 3 prong to a 4 prong 14-30R, hoping that adding in the ground wire...

Charging with a 3 prong dryer outlet?

Just tried this. Same problem with the 5-15 plus when the microwave turned on. UMC is starting to sound more and more fishy.

Charging with a 3 prong dryer outlet?

I ran the microwave myself so I didn't get to see... I'll get help tomorrow and try again. The rabbit hole is real though. Just noticed my breaker panel is GE and the 30amp breaker is Square D. Not sure how much that can affect things but I would prefer if it was a GE breaker like the rest...

Charging with a 3 prong dryer outlet?

Agree with the rabbit hole. I've turned off the breaker and I'm calling an electrician tomorrow. Hope I can get someone out here quickly. Thanks for your help.

Charging with a 3 prong dryer outlet?

So... This evening I went to Home Depot and picked up the 4 prong outlet. While removing the old 3 prong I noticed the wires were slightly loose. I proceeded to change the outlet and made sure it was pretty tight... Using my neighbors 4 prong 14-30 connector, I plugged in and saw reported...

Charging with a 3 prong dryer outlet?

Wow. Thanks for explaining the logic behind that suggestion. I'm more inclined to move forward now.

Charging with a 3 prong dryer outlet?

Hello. I have a similar question/issue. My garage water heater outlet installed by previous home owner) is labeled a 10-30R (on it's own 30Amp breaker) so I bought the Tesla 10-30 adapter for my mobile charger. It starts charging fine but stops charging with a code of 4 red light blinks whenever...

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

You guess it... no stock locally and also out of stock online.. I have an alert set up though, hoping it comes back in stock soon.

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Nice. I'll mention this to the electrician. Thanks

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

This one is fairly new too. We have a total of 3: 2 original for water heater and dryer, and 1 added after construction where the last owner relocated the appliance. The wire for the new one is orange and I think it's 10-2. That's why I thought the larger plug could work... But I've been...

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Ok. Didn't realized I missed something basic, happy I asked. I'll consult a professional. Thanks again for speaking up.

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Thanks everyone. I'll attempt to get a 14-30 from another shop today. If not possible, I'll get with an electrician to move forward with the 14-50.

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Can I change to a 14-50? Any potential problems with the car or charging by doing this? Thanks

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Sooooo, I went to the Tesla service desk today after work. Just my luck they are out of the 14-30 but I was able to grab their last 240v adapter, which was a 14-50. :-( Next stop was home Depot where I grabbed a Leviton 14-50R flush mount outlet. I've read that many people are using 14-50 and...

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

I know enough to poke but this scared me. LOL Thanks for all the advice btw! I'm leaning to the suggestion of changing to 14-30. I'll go buy a box today.

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Thanks for the reply! I know this is going to sound crazy, but I actually traced the wire (cut the wall and everything!) from the outlet box to the breaker panel and it's going directly to the 30Amp GE circuit. The only thing that could be shared is where the neutral wire and the ground wire are...

3 Prong 240v plug, no neutral

Hi, I just ran into a similar this issue at my new home. When plugging my Tesla portable charger into a 240v 10-30R dryer outlet that was added by the previous owner, it works fine overnight unless someone uses the microwave or is in the fridge too long for the compressor to kick in. I can...
