Driver Seat Options (Add-Ons) for Back Pain

Same here. I have lower back issues but the lumbar support in the car didn't really affect those either way. Main issue for me seems to be pressure on the nerve in my leg and butt.

Driver Seat Options (Add-Ons) for Back Pain

Big bummer. You could also try going to an upholsterer and getting the chair completely customized. With the amount of money you'll lose on the sale, it might be the better option in the event you like the car in every other way.

    Model X driver seat issue

Good to know. But are the seats in the MS different from the MX? If they aren't substantially different, then it may be more of an issue of the seat combined with the seating position/lack of vertical space for legs.

Car seat customization: auto upholsterers in SoCal

Does anyone have any recommendations for auto upholsterers in Southern California? In particular, has anyone had experience customizing the seats in their Tesla? I've got a Model S Plaid, and I may decide to customize the driver's seat to add more padding and reduce the seat base bolsters.

Driver seat comfort/support vs Model 3

Sadly I think we’re in the 1%. Or at least you would assume so, because if that many people were suffering you’d think Tesla would make modifications. Ugh. The thing I’m trying to figure out: is it just the seat? Or is it a combination of the way the seat is built as well as the lack of...

    Pre 'next gen' seats comfort

Yeah, I definitely think raising the seat helps. I obviously have back issues, but I didn’t experience any pain in my previous SUV. I feel like that’s largely a product of having more vertical space for my legs. I’m pretty tall though, so when I go all the way to the top of the seat position I’m...

    X100d seats

Yeah, I saw that. I’m not sure how much the seats now differ from the seats back then. From what I understand there’ve been various changes over the years, and despite that various people end up being uncomfortable regardless. Not suggesting this is a Tesla problem (although I do think the seats...

Driver seat comfort/support vs Model 3

Yeah, this is not fun. I did a ton of research over the last few months before buying my Plaid. I like Tesla and I’ve owned one before, but I’m not a zealot. I was very open to other makes and models, but the more I researched the more I realized it just didn’t make sense to buy any other car. I...

    Drivers seat killing me!!

Yeah, that’s kind of how they do it with fast cars these days. It’s not just Tesla. They want you in there snug so that you don’t roll around at speed. Which is great for people who don’t have sciatica or other back issues, but for the rest of us it can put pressure in places that hurt. No fun.

    Back pain

Oh interesting. A lot of people have said the opposite helped them: trying to get their knees more level with their hips reduced pressure on the lower back and glutes. In which case you need to raise the back of the seat more than the front. It’s obvious there are just a lot of different body...

    Very uncomfortable bottom seat cushion

Indeed! And I made no secret of that. I love the jerky attitude though. Hilarious how many Tesla owners have this weird, conspiratorial approach to posters. Like we’re up to no good. Or we’re anti-Tesla plants! *gasp* I’m moving into a place that doesn’t want to update their grid right now, so...

    Back pain

Meaning you raised the entire seat, or angled it so that the back of the seat moved higher?

    Back pain

What did you end up doing? I just got a Model S Plaid about a week ago and I'm already in serious pain. Specifically in my right glute, and it's starting to radiate into my lower back. I've been limping around the house all day. Practicing a bunch of new stretches to fix the issue, but annoyed...

    X100d seats

No change in 2021. Scary painful and I've only had my Plaid for a week.

Sad story - cannot drive new Model S

How did this turn out? I'm in the exact same position. Was already thinking of selling the car for completely separate reasons, but I've just begun getting excruciating pain in my right glute and only had the car for a week. I can't tell if Tesla just makes bad seats (even now at the end of...

    Pre 'next gen' seats comfort

This doesn't seem to be solved problem. I have a Model S Plaid and after a week of use I'm getting terrible pain in my right glute. Never experienced this on any other car, including the ICE SUV I had before the Plaid.

Did you end up doing this? How did it go?

Any way to change front seats on the Model S?

How did this turn out? I agree that the support wings are killers, especially on the seat base. They squeeze and compress my glutes and thighs, which right now is resulting in terrible pain in my right glute radiating into the lower back. I've been looking around at the seats of other...

Anyone have a solution for uncomfortable front Seat?

Same issue in brand-new Model S Plaid. Excruciating pain in my right glute radiating into my lower back—after a mere week. Never had this issue any other car, including the ICE SUV I owned before this. Thought maybe it was an issue with the sporty sedan nature of the Plaid, especially the lack...

    Model X driver seat issue

Reviving the thread yet again. I have a Model S Plaid that I got just over a week ago. In that tiny span of time I've developed excruciating pain in my right glute that is radiating into my lower back. I had no such pain in the ICE SUV I was driving previously. Originally I blamed the seat, but...

Exactly the same for me. What did you do?

    Very uncomfortable bottom seat cushion

You're not the only one. I have a Model S Plaid and I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Not sure how similar my seat is to the one you had, but sounds like they haven't changed that much. In fact, one guy was speculating that they might've even gotten worse (Plaid seat padding not good...

Plaid seat padding not good. Seeking input from other plaid owners

Some people in this thread (How to make the driver seat comfortable?) threw out a lot of different ideas. But that was a couple years ago and they weren't talking about Plaid seats. Ultimately somebody's going to have to be a guinea pig and disassemble a seat and try to figure out what's going...

Plaid seat padding not good. Seeking input from other plaid owners

I was wondering if there was a change to the seats. I had a Tesla 100D in 2018 and I had zero pain. Now I have the Plaid, a much more expensive car, and I'm getting excruciating pain in my right glute and increasingly my lower back. Note: the SUV I had immediately before getting the Plaid also...

Plaid seat padding not good. Seeking input from other plaid owners

Model S Plaid: experiencing the same thing. I've been posting all over the Internet frantically trying to figure this out. I've had my Plaid for a little over a week. Almost immediately I developed excruciating pain in my right glute. Starting to radiate into lower back pain now. Obviously I had...

    2021 Model 3 drivers seat

I think this could be it. I have a herniated desk, but in my last car I never had back pain. That car happened to be an SUV (ICE, so even more vertical leg space because no battery), and maybe that makes all the difference? Then again, I've also had people complain about back pain with the Model...

    2021 Model 3 drivers seat

Just bought a Model S Plaid and am experiencing the same thing. After only a week of owning the car and only a few drives, I have excruciating pain in my right glute (driver leg). Totally wrecking my life. I'm limping all over the place (not an exaggeration). Finally found a stretch that hits...

Driver seat comfort/support vs Model 3

Any luck here? I just posted about my Plaid, where I'm experiencing similar issues after barely having the car for a week. In that time I've basically become a yogi I've been so obsessed with posture, stretches, core strength, etc. All for the sake of salvaging an investment in a car that is...

Driver seat comfort/support vs Model 3

Just bought a Model S Plaid: can confirm that the driver's seat is absolute hell. I've owned two Teslas and like the company and its cars in many ways. I'm not a fanboy or a hater. But I hate this seat with a burning passion. Some caveats: I have a herniated desk, and you might too. Tons of...

Driver Seat Options (Add-Ons) for Back Pain

Model S Plaid. New owner and seats are absolutely killing me. I know for sure that I have a herniated disc, but I've had that for a while and never experienced any pain in any of the other cars I've driven, even for a really long distances. I just got a Plaid, and after just one day of doing...

How reliable is Spotify these days?

As another person said, I think people have different standards of quality when it comes to software. My standards are pretty high, and in my opinion Tesla Spotify integration is abysmal. It's obviously better than it used to be, but that doesn't mean it isn't still abysmal. Even if you log into...

    Schizophrenic Spotify Podcasts?

Just got a Plaid, and I'm utterly shocked by how bad Spotify integration is. When I get into the car, anything that I'm playing on Spotify on my phone restarts from the very beginning. That doesn't even make sense. Either play what's on my phone exactly as it is on my phone (like a Bluetooth...

Trading in Model X for Model S Plaid

I've got a brand-new plaid, FYI. Midnight color, 40 miles on it. Fresh from factory two days ago. Ultimately not going to be able to keep it for stupid reasons, but open to sell if you're interested.
