Almost any USB drive has a limited number of write/erase cycles. It could be that the USB stick is approaching its max number of writes.

Charge stats appeared today after I drove around a bit and then recharged the battery when I got home. LFP battery so I always charge to 100%. Current price of gasoline in Ontario is $1.60/litre ($6.00/US gallon). Might be a sensitive subject at work.
