2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Will try soon in Germany. Dont really drive those speeds normally. Here in NL thats already 60 kph above highway speed limit 😅

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

It's definitely not only under hard acceleration. Mine has at it while lightly accelerating from about 50mph-ish. Driving at constant speeds is fine-ish. You still kinda feel it but it's not very noticeable. It sucks, but it's probably just a design flaw. I think the main problem with these...

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

The vibrating is also a bit subjective maybe. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. For example, my business partner also had a Plaid, and he never noticed any vibration (apart from the few miles vibration). I drove his car for a week or two, and it definitely had the same vibration.

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

No I did not. But when I let go of the throttle the vibration stops. So i dont think it has anything to do with foam being loose. Im pretty sure its something in the front motor. I'll do some testing with track mode enabled and rear bias when I have time.

Disclaimer though. I didn't get the track package wheels. Have the standard Arachnids on. Can't imagine it making a difference. But who knows.

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

Just got the track pack, and still got the vibration at 80mph. So thats not the solution. I also mentioned it to Tesla service and they basically told me there was no solution. At least I have working (non warped) brakes now again. These track pack brakes make a massive difference. Just got to...

    Model S/X refresh

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Sell them? :) Talking about that, I'll probably, hopefully, maybe, will get my CCB's in december.

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Yeah I don't know. Did did drive back around, but the brakes still may have been incredibly hot before stopping and talking with with eachother for 20 minutes.

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Quite surprised by that. I ordered them a few months ago as well and when I asked when they will be be installed, the first answer was bassiccly they didn't know. So they definitely weren't in stock. I definitely want the brakes, because since the Carwow drag race with the car the brakes...

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Did anyone actually already get the track pack in Europe (Apart from some YouTubers)? I ordered it but cancelled it after Tesla sitting on my money for a few months, without being able to say anything about delivery times.
  13. S

    EU finalize and deliveries

Please keep me updated if they actually fixed the misalignment. Mine has it as well, and I saw two other other Plaids as well which have it. It was "within specs" and I was told I had to pay it myself if I wanted to have it fixed. And if the car got damaged in the process it was my own problem...

    Model S&X Price Adjustments

Yeah, probably lost 80k (Euro's) on Model S + Model 3 I sold. Bought the S at the wrong moment, and sold the 3 at the wrong moment (after the price drop). It sucks. Especially since the Model 3 was a great car. Built in China, no faults. I loved it. I wouldn't have such a big issue with this...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

Or you can also just be a sane person and just keep the f'ing steering wheel.🥲
  16. S

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

That sounds quite extreme, not being able to see the speedometer. You might be sitting very high with the wheel far out I guess. In my seating position, seat at almost lowest setting + steering wheel in lowest setting + furthest out, the wheel blocks the upper part of the screen, so I can't see...

Who's getting the normal steering wheel?

Once you get the round wheel, you know what you have missed. I'm also happy I got rid of it. Makes the car way easier and fun to drive for me.

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

But that's the thing. My brakes were never bad on the street. I did a few Autobahn runs with some pretty hard braking from high speed. They were fine. It was only after the dragstrip runs were they went bad. That's why I was so surprised. I actually didn't fully believe the whole "terrible...

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

I drove almost 10k km with the pads before we did the did the dragraces. I think they have been properly bedded in? Anyway, it doesn't matter. If you dragrace/track the car, check your brakes. Wether this was a defect from factory or not, I don't know.

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

I'm just stating what I experienced, not making things up... I mean good chance the brakes had been faulty from the factory. Not sure if that's good or bad though... Although I never experienced bad brake feel before we did the dragraces. It was fine before, and after it was bad. They did brake...

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

Yeah, although I do think for 90 percent of the Plaid owners the standard brakes are well... Good enough. But to be honest I did not expect this outcome. Was a bit of a reality check for me. The main problem is the brakes just don't match the weight + horsepower of the car. Are they dangerous...

Model S Plaid Brakes Are Terrible!

This is my car btw. And this was the result after the dragrace: The brakes were toast, spongy. Only a few hard stops (with big pauses in between) and one single brake test, and the brakes were gone. Pedal went to the floor. Pads were glazed and brake fluid was finished. So I can confirm the...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

Totally agree with everything. I also find myself drive way more "aggressive" with the steering wheel. The Yoke makes the car feel heavy and less controllable.

Third Tesla, first Model S - My Review after 1000 km

To add: - Vibration from the front of the car between 70-120kmh when slowly accelerating. - Severe vibration first few km's driving - Nothing is mounted straight. - Bubbles in windshield. - Rattling rear bench. These are all "normal" issues you just have to accept. Build quality is definitely...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

Got the round steering wheel installed a week ago. Drove around with a bit to give an honest opinion. So, when I first got the car, I thought the Yoke sucked. Then I kinda got used to it, thinking it was not that bad. Well after one week of driving with the round steering wheel I can tell you...

Model S arrives scratched after 2.5 years of waiting for order

Within specs. But yeah, seriously, that's just how Tesla delivers their cars. Mine also wasn't perfect. You can reject delivery I guess and hope the next one is better.

FYI: My opinion is Model 3 > Model S

Dunno, but here in the Netherlands there are very little refresh Model S's. And even less Plaids. But frankly no one is noticing it's a "special" car. There are a lots of old Model S's driving around here, and no one is noticing the difference. On the other hand, that's also fun, because it's...

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Checking in, same issues: - First few kilometers of a drive the car vibrates quite a lot. - Under slight acceleration at 70 kph, there's some vibration, and also at around 100-120 kph. - Heavy acceleration there's quite some vibration, but it feels more like the front tires are searching for...

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

Luckily I still have the parking sensors. If you're missing those on the HW4 cars, I can imagine parking is not much fun, until they figure out the vision only stuff properly.

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

Everyone who drove in my car thought it was a bit stupid. But I think it's similar to the US, some people hate it, some people like it. Personally I do not dislike it on the highway, because well, you don't have to steer. In tight city streets + parking, it's just not great. Parking spots in...

For us Europeans: the round steering wheel is finally orderable! I ordered one immediately. Installation planned next month.

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

Jealous, I'm eagerly waiting for it in the Netherlands. Every time I drive my girlfriends Fiat 500 I realize how much a miss a normal steering wheel. The Yoke is not horrible, but man... Why... Just why...

Not yet available in europe unfortunately :(
  41. S

Who's getting the normal steering wheel?

4000 km's with the Yoke, and it still feels odd when turning. However, I do agree with resting your palm on the bottom when on Autopilot is nice. In my honest opinion I think Yoke has been designed for US roads.

Who's getting the normal steering wheel?

Where is the wheel though. Available March, but still not available. Maybe Elon March, so next year or something? :)

    Het vraag en aanbod draadje

    Model S/X refresh

Beschadigde (vanaf fabriek)...

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

I do not believe there are any advantages except for maybe visibility. What exactly are the other advantages? Mind you, I don't hate the Yoke at all, I think it's ok. But I just don't understand why this shape makes it better than a round wheel. I read things like: "Oh, the Yoke is so much...

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

The shape of the Yoke is not really an issue, it's more the turn signal buttons which make it a bit less natural, because you have to turn it on when exiting the roundabout when your Yoke is still (semi) upside down. So easiest way (in my opinion) is to cross your arms, so the left hand stays on...
  48. S

    Steering Wheel / Yoke option

I'll get it as soon as it's available. Will update with my experience here when I get it. I don't think the buttons will be harder to use though. The way I do roundabouts now is keeping the left hand on the Yoke, so you know where the turn signal buttons are. If you let go of the Yoke with the...

    Model S/X refresh

Klopt.
