Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

VIN is 5YJYGDEE2LF045xxx I know that there were early versions of the Y that had seals that were not treated with the hydrophobic products in the factory (ours was not) so they did it for us after we had our first issues last winter. Unfortunately it didn't work this winter when we had the...

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

Would have been a great car if they just used a non-frameless door design...

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

yeah...it's our first frameless window....so our mistake for not looking into this feature when deciding to buy this car. Just trying to understand why any car manufacturer, not just Tesla, would think they are a good idea though given how weather can affect its function.

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

It was my polite way of saying I don't want to give out my VIN...

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

    1) I don't have access to the VIN (we purchased this Tesla September 2020). 2) this issue is after overnight accumulation as well as an issue when driving in cold temps. For example, we had issues getting into the car in the morning despite a half hour pre-heat. Then we parked it in the sun at...

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

Thanks. We will check this out. We have directed the vents to point at the windows in the hope that this will assist in warming them sufficiently. We are about to have sub zero temps (up to -20 in Whistler) so we are pretty concerned about this issue....

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

If we use the manual release, would we not have the same issue of the window not dropping and the potential to damage the trim? ....and then the inability to close the door again because the window is too frozen to drop down? It sounds like the only option is deicer which isn't very good for...

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

we already do this...for up to half and hour and it's still touch and go to get in. And as I mentioned in another comment, we even got locked inside the frozen vehicle even though we had driven for half an hour with the heat on. The wet cold in Whistler BC is not compatible with frameless doors.

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

I think that is exactly what is happening but the question remains how does one apply it on the outside when locked in the vehicle! I guess we can climb out the trunk which always seems to open. I just can't believe they thought the frameless doors were a good idea for a car that is sold outside...

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

All they need to do is test the vehicles in Whistler, BC. They test them in Alaska where it's a dry cold. They need the moisture and the freezing temperatures to really test the windows and doors.

Windows freezing and not being able to get in and out of our Model Y

We are extremely disappointed in the winter performance of our Model Y. This is our second winter and last year we had one day or so where weather lead to windows freezing to the seal so they were unable to open (which means we could not get in or out of the car). This year we have had several...
