    yes it is. And certainly do not believe your installer when they tell you that it's "no problem" to add on whatever you want in the future. I particularly enjoyed the Sunpower panels not being compatible with the Sunpower battery part....

    If you end up deciding to start over you can probably sell your old panels on craigslist. I sold my 5 year old 345 watt sunpower panels for $150 each in one day, so probably could have gotten more. Was less about the money though and more about wanting them to be put to good use.

    Luckily I just got a new PTO so I think I'm covered for 15 years, but keep your eyes open in 2037 as you'll see my name in the news for suing PG&E to disconnect from the grid entirely. No chance I agree to any of these changes.

    I got the same info for upgrades/modifications to an existing system. However, I was recently able to confirm with PG&E that if you install a completely new system (IE removed all wires, conduits, panels, etc), your 20 year grandfathering is reset to the new PTO date. Not sure that applies to...
