    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Just got 14.3 on my 2022 RWD Y. A few notes, apologies if people have already said this: - adaptive headlights confirmed on bottom range Y (I didn’t think we got matrix) - seems to get the FSD 12 occupancy network, meaning the visualisations are showing an order of magnitude more cars and...

    Model Y AC compressor failure

Our AC just failed. 2022 Model Y RWD. Lodged service via app. Response on first working day after I lodged it (failed on a public holiday). One week to get the parts in. Low refrigerant, and apparently super manifold & AC compressor require replacing. All covered under warranty. As an...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

PSA - I had rattle from the hitch tow Insert, due to the whole 2 inch receiver vs 50mm receiver thing. i originally used Bunnings plastic 1mm shims, but bought this shim kit for about $30, which is much neater. Problem solved now. https://www.misterhitches.com.au/products/mharsk

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I'm going to try the Yakima Stage Two. It has the +2 option but I won't be trying that straight away. Will report back in the next few months. Wonder how you can supercharge with 4 bikes on the hitch...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Correct, the trailer harness as advertised is the internal one that rigs up the trailer plug next to the hitch receiver on the car side. You'll need your own trailer loom (flat 7 pin on Tesla side to whatever your trailer has. Rental trailers always come with one).

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

OK so I finally got out and did some towing last week. A few things I learnt; TAPE! Tape over your nice clean unscratched plastic bumper lip to protect against the safety chains. See my photos attached. I needed to fabricate a 1mm spacer for the inside of the hitch to reduce clunking. I...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Sorry for the late reply. Having tested the setup with a trailer last week I can confirm there's enough space there to avoid the bumper. Feels like a normal distance, about the same as my previous Santa Fe's tow kit.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Hi all, an update for Australian Model Y towers. I found a suitable tow ball mount. It’s a Rough Country RCTBM7011 and it looks like it meets all Teslas specs pretty closely. It lands exactly 400mm above the ground which is the exact height of the trailers at my local servo. See pictures...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

No luck on the short Repco, it fouls the bumper. The long one was far too long in my opinion, which would put additional load on the receiver. I have ordered one online from Rough Country that actually looks about right, it arrives Tuesday and I will let you all know if it works out. Third time...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

It’s pretty complex. They will need it for the day. Hoist, wheel guard liners off, wheels off, underside aero covers off, bumper off, bolt up steel support, run the wiring, have a smoke, cable tie stuff, bumper on, liners on, aero stuff on, cable tie random wiring that isn’t in place, smoke...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Also, a further PSA on this. Tesla hasn't updated the Model Y owners manual in Australia for towing yet (!). The section just is not there (24/3/23). You can use the U.S version in the meantime. It has a schematic on appropriate tow hitches, and searching high and low here, I just can't find...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I got it installed last week. Caution - it’s a 52mm hitch receiver. I got a 50mm hitch and if you towed with it over time it would likely flog out the receiver. Very difficult to find an appropriate one to spec. I am trying the 52mm Repco shorter hitch this weekend after failing on a Curt 50mm...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Yep, apparently it runs the low efficiency compressor to generate heat (usually used only in very cold temps to assist the heat pump and for generating rapid heat for preconditioning) full ball until the battery is empty. Oh and don’t forget the battery preconditioning is on the same coolant...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Thats exactly how my M3 RWD LFP behaved. 16000kms and 428km at 100%. My MY RWD LFP has now dropped to 404km, with a calculated usable capacity via the energy app method of 56kwh. It’s now at 7% loss after 1300kms. I have run it down to 10% and back up to full but that only gained me a km for a...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Yep, it’s LFP - shows LFP under additional vehicle information under controls > software, and also presets charge limit to 100%. This is a Shanghai built Y.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

The range drop occurred when I went away for a week on 28.2 and left the car plugged in. 28.2 had maintained a 430km reading over eight charges, then I went away for a week and the range dropped. But I think you're on to something, the very next charge was on 36.2 which is where Teslafi...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Yep 435km on delivery for both. I use Teslafi for both of the them and they both started at something like 434.8. I agree it seems stupid showing 435 on both when the Y is clearly less efficient but that’s how they came. Anyone got insight on such rapid loss after <620 miles?

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Looking for some opinions here as this seems the right thread for it! I had a M3 RWD LFP delivered January, I did 14,000kms and sold it 7 months later with a drop from 435>429kms or 1%. Charged it to 100% every night. Took delivery of our Y RWD LFP a few weeks ago. After 1,000kms it's...
