Is this level of battery degradation normal

I wouldn't obsess about these abrupt changes. I seem them from time to time (in both directions). I am guessing they have to do with some recalibration and it is better to look at longer-term trends.

anybody recently installed powerwalls in RHODE ISLAND?

So I saw this: https://www.nfpa.org/News-and-Research/Publications-and-media/Blogs-Landing-Page/NFPA-Today/Blog-Posts/2021/10/01/Residential-Energy-Storage-System-Regulations which suggests a max of 40kwh inside the house. At 13.5kwh, 3 x power wall would just fall over.

Emergency Battery Saving (2,500 Mile Vacation from Wisconsin to New York and back)

One thing mentioning is that if you got nervous in the mountains, it might have been near the peak? When I'm driving in the mountains I often will actually gain percentages when I'm coming down and so my percentage can be frighteningly low on the way up. For this to be effective, however, you...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Sounding an alert and flashing a message when about to drop speed relative to the prevailing traffic speed seems like a good solution (if NHTSA requires the behavior).
  5. N

    FSD Beta v11.x

This for sure is the most irritating thing about FSD. The speed limit suddenly changes but the traffic does not and suddenly the car slows 20+mph... Is there any way to adjust this (without just being hyper-prepared for the changes)?

    Routing without traffic. Anyone else?

Hi! I just found this thread. I am having the same problem regularly on the Long Island Expressway (plenty of data, can stream music, but no traffic data). Can I ask - was this a permanent situation for a given drive or it came and went? For me, it happens regularly on the LIE, but not the whole...

Will the new CCS enabled superchargers have long cables?

US Superchargers open to CCS vehicles

What are people that bought Full FSD doing?

Just curious where you got the old text? Is there somewhere that shows how the FSD sales text evolving over time?

Will the new CCS enabled superchargers have long cables?

I think the big worry for me is that the "open charger" count becomes inaccurate. If you are planning to charge and you get there and free chargers are blocked and there's actually a wait, that will be a black eye for the experience. Strikes me they should focus on sites with poor economics...

NJ -> VT ski trip MYLR

I just did NYC to Stowe last weekend using the pass through middle ski method (the frunk and the under-trunk are both great for boots). It worked great, easy SC en route (although I know different route from you). I will say in the super cold the wh/mi was much higher than I have had (340 vs 250...

MY Battery Health after 1 year.

Personally I prefer to work out the remaining kWh rather than range. Range is influenced by a lot of factors (although Tessie might take a fixed conversion), but I do think at least some people's loss of range is not about the battery as much as other factors influencing the car's assessment of...

FSD - Time to receive beta

I am wondering how long before I receive a safety score? Has anyone else experienced this where Teslafi shows a safety score but the app does not? I am worried I'll miss out on the next release (had the car for about 3 months and 2k miles).

    Regenerative Braking Software Update

Agreed - I almost never needed brakes before. Now I need them on every drive.

Getting complaints about using public level 2 charger

They are usually 6 or 7 kW, so if you're around 250-260 Wh/mi and throw in few % for charging efficiency, that is right. These are basically the same as Juicebox or Tesla wall charger, depending on the amperage it's wired for...

Getting complaints about using public level 2 charger

This has all been very interesting to hear the opinions! Let me add one subtlety: these two (free) spots are usually taken. Usually by high-end EVs (etrons) and/or plug-in hybrids (Rav4 Prime, etc). This site is 1/2 mile from the "town center" and on the other side of the center (also 1/2 mile...

    Model Y very poor range/efficiency

Yeah sentry mode is brutal. If you aren't aware (I wasn't!) there's an internal option not to engage sentry mode at home or work or specific places. Once I switched that off I saved a lot of energy. I only use it when I park in high traffic areas.

Getting complaints about using public level 2 charger

There's also a lot of L2 chargers at the town hall, but that's a stroll from the village. Those are $1/hr. (So for a desperate non-Tesla there are always those.)

Getting complaints about using public level 2 charger

Indeed I follow all these rules! It's actually a city charger, not associated with any business. I usually stay 1-2 hrs while grabbing a coffee and grocery shopping... But my charging was also "interrupted" the same day I got the note and I wonder if the person unplugged the charger... (Nothing...

Getting complaints about using public level 2 charger

So in East Hampton Village in NY there are two L2 chargers where you can park and slowly charge (free) while running errands, get coffee, whatever. The other day, I parked there and got a nasty note on my car (from another EV driver) that as a Tesla owner I should only use the nearby...

If your EDD is still a month it could still be a while. Seems like it goes: 4 weeks-> 2weeks->7-10 days->VIN. If you're at 4 weeks I wouldn't assume it's imminent.

Took the new car out for a spin. 4 passengers, AC on, went 105 miles in 33% battery going 65-70 most of the way. Pretty happy with that!

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

If what others have said is true (that the supply of AWD from Tesla direct is dwindling) it might suggest they have stopped 4680-AWD production and shifted to 2170-LR/P where they can ramp without battery constraints (and switch back when the 4680 bottleneck is over)
  34. N

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

Well watching the video above it's clear that ramp is the focus so I think theyll do whatever to get scale. For myself, I was a little sad not to get a 4680 car (delivery tomorrow) but not at all sad to get a 2170 Fremont vs one from Austin. I am just excited to get the car!

Model Y LR built in Giga Austin!!

While of course the OP might just be a troll, it seems unlikely the OP switched to MYSR just because for an Oct order it would cost more to do so. Also, if they do start limited deliveries of MYLR from Austin, it would make sense they'd send them to Texas first, just because shipping. But, if...

Just texting the tesla people back, asking what the status is, has it left, is it still en route, etc, basically being a PITA.

My VIN is 464, and I have been tracking it since it was assigned two weeks ago which was before it was built. Waiting for it to arrive NY. I wouldn't worry about it.
  41. N

Will our Model Y come from Austin?

(Agreeing) One can even read it off from the submitted EPA filing. The recharge event for the AWD was 76.5 kwh (which includes charging losses) while the recharge event for the LR was 91.1 kwh. Take that ratio and you get 76.5/91.1 * 330=277 mi. Which suggests a usable battery (if the LR is...

I have FSD and was thinking about removing, but I saw they've ordered radars probably for future FSD. In the past, they've upgraded the systems for people with purchased FSD and I am holding out hope for that... (I know, just buy it for what it is and I am but still ok to hope!)

    Why my Wh/mi so bad?

@ZenRockGarden is making a reasonable and solid point: if you accelerate for 20 seconds vs 40 to get up to speed and then drive 50 miles, whatever efficiency difference there is in that brief acceleration period (sizeable or no) is not the primary loss of energy, which is the sustained loss...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Yeah well we have the overall efficiency for the AWD from epa and it's basically the same as the usual LR. So it certainly would seem that any changes in range would correspond to proportional changes in battery size.
  46. N

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Maybe not. But there's a benefit to selling only a single design of a car, especially since they've said it's cheaper for them. Regardless, I find it hard to imagine that Austin won't ultimately make 4680 LR. It's the most popular version of their most popular car, after all...
  47. N

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

I kind of wonder if this is Osborne-prevention. They need to ramp Austin, and Austin makes 4680 cars. But even if there's a small difference in 2170 vs 4680 cars, you can imagine people holding out. This way they can ramp Austin and *only* when it is going well, they can retool Fremont and shift...
