Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

No. Not normal. I have good ears. Only thing that may make noise besides the compressor and radiator fans is the mechanisms that open and close air ducts for the HVAC inside the dash. Even that isn't a ticking noise and this only occurs as the car is reconfiguring the air flow modes so...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

Here's a scenario - it's not yet -10 celcius so the heat pump will try to scavenge outside heat to achieve COP of >1. Problem is that the rad is fully blocked with snow so whether the temp is -1 or -31, your COP is now = 1 because the heat pump is in "Stalled" mode, "mode 9", "compressor...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I've also never seen it close, not even in -20 celcius temps. Parked/fully off, on with climate on, dog mode, camp mode - vent always open in cold temps.

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

I got the same thing yesterday, filled it out, sent it back, linked my horror story YouTube video with time stamps of key events in the bottom of my reply. It's great that it was fixed, but software causing hardware failure - that's not so good and next to zero transparency around that. I wonder...

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

FYI, my horror story got resolved with a visit to the service center. As it was a rental Model Y (ours is in the body shop), I have not yet been informed what was actually performed, however it came back with the 2021.44.30.7 software. Heat works fine 100% of the time, I drove it at up to -22...

    Model Y heat pump issues

People who don't experience colder than -15 celcius commenting here...you're not helping. Your disbelief isn't helping. We live in an apartment. We drive to charge. We park at a LVL 2 charger overnight and pick up the car in the morning (with our ice (Audi) car). When we pick it up the entire...
