They plan to add button functions to the knob over time. Sounds like its a case of testing each function they migrate.

    Changes to Supercharging?

Cloud seeding impact if any is very temporary, so likely not a factor. You are introducing additional condensation nuclei into a cloud that hasn't really got what it takes to rain. It would make little difference to a storm already laden with moisture and already forecast.

Beginning of the end for Tesla

Definitely matters to me. Approaching retirement and will lose my company car allowance soon but am fortunate to now own my car outright now. Living off pensions/investments alone is going to be tough, so knowing I have very low fuel costs will let me enjoy retirement without worrying about the...

Beginning of the end for Tesla

Worth mentioning that Ford, GM and VW amongst others have also made job cuts in recent months, they just don't make the headlines the way that Tesla does. The pain is across the industry right now.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Same for me on two different phones as of this morning, first drive on 2024.8.9. Toggling bluetooth off/on doesn't help, nor does power cycling the phone or reinstalling the app. The phones show as connected on the cars screen and you can lock/unlock by pressing the button on the phone app...

Use the numbers on this screen. Note how the projected range will change depending on driving style, weather, battery temp and road conditions. Use the 30mi number on a longer motorway journey.

[UK] Report that Tesla not going to produce low cost “Model 2”

He probably cannot confirm or deny particulars about company plans or timescales. Its not unknown for journos to speculate on something based on sliver of information to try and draw out things a company is not ready to share.

    Tessories charge port remote

Dual lock is good, we use it at work. Very satisfying mechanical click when the two sides connect.

You might want to join their discord channels as they share lots of info about future updates, for example migration of button functions to the knob, they can only code and test a fixed amount in a given month.

    What’s your job?

Field Applications Engineer in embedded wireless, mainly Bluetooth and UWB stuff. Claim to fame, one of my products was involved in hacking a Tesla ... I should point out it was an off the shelf BT device and was nothing exceptional, just a surprise to see a picture of it being used for that...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Vaguely recall the Polestar matrix having something like 80 or so pixels. Tesla looks to be using Samsung Pixcell to get those 100 pixels. Samsung Pixcell isnt particularly old and is not exclusive to Tesla. Edit olestar Pixel lights use 84 LEDs and if Tesla is any where near as good as...

That's the idea. If you live in a built up area, with street lights adaptive matrix is not going to be such a big deal as someone like myself who lives in a rural area, with no street lights whatsoever. Actually I rarely drive anywhere with street lights day to day. So for me it will be a case...

    M3H supplied cable 3 phase / 22kW?

My 2022 Model Y came with a 3 phase 22kW cable, tested on our Smart ForTwo which supports 22kW AC (very handy). Our Model Y only supports 11kW using the same cable.

A pair of UWB devices can do to way ranging. A pulse measured in nano seconds is sent fron one device to another and the second device processes it and sends it back. The original device will know how long the first device takes to process it and deducts the processing time from the round trip...

    Matrix headlights - finally???

With some googling, I have seen reference to Tesla using Samsung Pixcell ADB but can't say its definite proof thats what they are using, Unless someone knows of a teardown video on YouTube? Pixcell looks to have been announced in 2021 by Samsung.

Do we know what system Tesla went for with their matrix lights, is it in house or did they buy in from an established supplier?

    [UK] 2023.44

I don't think physics is the problem here. If you happen to have an IEEE membership you can read a paper on it here Vision-based rain sensing with an in-vehicle camera I suspect getting it "just right" involves lots of iterations and lots of learning data on the part of the NN. Tesla does...

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

Its certainly cheaper for me to charge my Y on Osprey rather than Tesla SC as have lots of Bonnet referral/reward credit. So always use the Banbury Osprey rather that the adjacent Tesla SC.

Octoplus - Whos had the invite?

They have done it before nationwide ( im in Somerset)and was previously called power hour and was separate from the savings sessions that also ran last year. This year they have been rolled into one under Octoplus. Last year the saving sessions alone netted me £99 credit. Here is one of the 2022...

Not enamoured wishes the rear of the Y but pretty how it looks from other angles 🙂

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

I3 should take close to 50kW up to close to 90% SoC on CCS. Pretty decent charging curve for a 50kW max speed car. Typically we spent 20-40 mins max before being on our way again using the likes of Osprey, Instavolt and BP.

Bluetooth Game Controllers - Latest Update 2023.26

Not all Xbox controllers support Bluetooth. And then some support classic Bluetooth and others support Bluetooth low energy. Depends on the hardware version of the xbox controller. I believe Tesla is using Bluetooth classic rather than BLE, so there will be a subset of xbox controllers that work.

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

2 EVs + home battery and I still don't have enough places to put the energy generated from my 10 East 405W and 7 West 405W panels for 50%+ of the year.

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Had my fuse upgraded by my DNO. The guy who came to do it even suggested I look at getting 3 phase as the overhead cable running along the street were already 3 phases. The biggest issue looked to be making space in my internal meter cupboard, the outside bit was not a problem apparently.

Farewell to Tesla, Hello Pug - until the next time.

Yeah, a Tesla, at least the current ones really are overkill for a local run around. We have a smart ForTwo EQ Cabrio as a run around and it's awesome. It's pretty much our go to for any journey under 90 miles. Much much much nicer to drive around town than our Model Y. The turning circle is...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

I've got about 10kWh of useable battery and it's pretty much the sweet spot for me. I use a combination of Home Assistant, Solcast Solar forecast and a Inverter Modbus integration to charge the battery on cheap rate over night to a level that still allows maximum amount of excess solar during...

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

I see no signs of Tesla imploding, quite the opposite. The cars get better over time, they are now becoming more affordable to more people and they still are the best car to do long distance with some of best efficiency numbers. Can you elaborate on "self implode"? Fyi, have owned 4 EV. 4th was...

Mennekes cable won’t plug into car charging port.

I've not tried. This has been happening more and more frequently over a number of weeks, along side getting warnings in the car about the charge port not latched. If I was stuck somewhere then yes I'd use the release. Tesla have been particularly interested in when it started and how often it...
