Yes - you need to pay for the car before you can take possession, and they won't accept a personal check. So, you need to do ACH, or I think they may accept a cashier's check. Also, of course, if you are financing it, the bank needs to have sent the remainder to Tesla.

That's what mine reads. Haven't picked it up yet - but I would assume that the car needs to be tested by being driven a bit to make sure it works properly. I would actually want Tesla to drive it to make sure there are no flaws.
