I haven’t looked into whether costs are similar for PPF/repaint so I can’t comment on whether any $ would be saved going either direction. But what I would say is with PPF you protect the paint now, remove it when it gets old, and you can then go naked for a few years after. By then who cares...

I had a full front PPF, which included the headlights, mirrors, and door edges. Then I applied a full car ceramic coat myself. Today was 14 days from ceramic coat and the weather was nice so I could finally wash it. Looks very nice. I'm happy. I got the red paint so I'm trying to take care of it.

Just got my VIN! F408. MYP Red/White, no tow, no FSD.

Updated delivery dates this morning: 3/25 - 4/5. Original EDD was 3/15 - 3/31, then 3/21 - 4/2, then WAY out to 6/5 - 7/15. So the SA was right about ignoring that last one. I am not enjoying the possibility that my car is subject to the EOQ rush though.

Just got a text back from Tesla contact and he/she said to ignore what my account says and that they still expect the car to arrive this month.
