Ford F-150 Lightning RHD in Australia

More observations: Tesla wins on the infotainment side. Spotify, when it works (network connections I assume since I live a bit rural), is nice. The games are good too (Vampire Survivors!). Naps. Although the Lightning's seats are more comfortable overall, the Tesla wins here as I can lower...

Ford F-150 Lightning RHD in Australia

It's not Bluecruise - that's not available - and afaik that is for specific routes only in the US (and maybe Canada). What I have is just the basic lane keeping and TACC equivalent. The lane keeping works very well for marked roads and I don't trust lane keeping for anything else so I won't...

Ford F-150 Lightning RHD in Australia

I've done some driving in it now - a few hundred kms over a number of trips. Some observations, most probably no surprise: Lightning TACC and lane keeping is generally better than Tesla. I've had no phantom brakes, no stupid speed adjustments, and better pick up in speed, etc. Lightning is...

Ford F-150 Lightning RHD in Australia

I suspect you might need to some software modifications to go with it as well, perhaps? As sold, there's no change to the software in the car AFAIK.

Enough to build a shed to house it in. :)

Ford F-150 Lightning RHD in Australia

The power outlets are not changed. They're actually sold with plates covering the points, but you can take those off. Any device that can take 110V to 240V (e.g. those bricks for laptops, etc) can plug in and work fine with either a travel adapter or suitable US cord. There's power points for...

Ford F-150 Lightning RHD in Australia

I bought one of these and I'll be picking it up tomorrow with its PPF done. Mine is Antimatter Blue, which can look rather dark/black at times. Still keeping my Tesla as well.

    Charge On Solar Australia

I hope they add something to prioritise the PW2 over the car. For my situation I think it's not too bad. I'm on 3 phase power with heaps of Solar, so I often have excess for everything to charge up no matter the order. It gets trickier though when the weather isn't great and the solar input...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I hope the devs that did the work on the adaptive high beams aren't the same who worked on the wipers. Given how slow they are to react, the oncoming victim will have been well dazzled before the selective dimming.

Need to collect them all - Google Meet too. Then Slack would be great too - might need to get a USB/BT keyboard though... I could do most of my support part of the job from the car then. :)

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I can give you another one that drops the TACC from 110 km/h to 80 km/h (which is extremely dangerous if anyone is following): Bruce Highway, heading south near Sippy Downs, right after it goes from 2 lanes to 3. I'm starting to get used to accelerator over ride here plus disable TACC for a...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The one place I've found TACC to work well - in heavy crawling traffic. If you know you're coming up to heavy congested traffic, get it going. It's not bad at following the stop/start flow, assuming you're ok with it being too timid with accelerating (and you can tap the accelerator to give it...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It was a Xmas gift, so one-off - at least for now. I just looked at my app and realised it's gone. However I don't know when that happened as I found it just about completely useless and ignored it.

    Panoramic Roof & Ride Quality

I've got a 2022 M3LR and I'm on the Sunshine Coast. I did get extra tinting done (to whatever is legal max) and I don't bother with a shade. When driving my wife and I don't notice the heat at all. It can get warm when coming back after parking for a while, but I try to remember to keep the...

Exactly this. It's annoying when I forget to do it though and come back to a hot car.

    warning tone volume adjustment?

The warning chimes are a classic example of very poor User Experience design. The same stupid chime for everything means you can't be sure exactly what it's whinging about and so you have to draw your attention away from the very thing you shouldn't to determine what the actual .... it wants to...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yeah, popped up for me too tonight. I still rarely trust the auto-steer and am always swearing at TACC for phantom breaking, hesitancy, slow acceleration, etc, so I am not sure how much I'll use these extra features. Like above, I might try the parking in an empty lot. :)

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Got the update to 2022.44.25.1 yesterday. I now see an option in the mobile app to set the Cabin Overheat Protection temperature - it's set to 40C, but each time I try to set it to a different value, I get "Command failed" message (with a very helpful submessage of "Command failed"..).

I was doing so much messing around with the navigation last night that I can't 100% remember. I think I was parked though.

The warnings are happening even if you don't have AP on. Or is it suppose to work that way?
  26. L

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I went for a drive. I get the alternate routing with 28.2, so that's good. I think the rubbish corrective action beeps/warning has improved but still needs work. Auto high beam has issues and failed to dip for oncoming traffic in a split multi-lane road.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Got upgraded to 2022.28.2 yesterday and I'm about to go for a bit of a drive. I'll see how it goes, but the 2022.24.5/6 I was on did not impress. I was getting similar messages to what @evpaddie mentions above too. Damn annoying, so maybe this new version will be better.

What am I missing - EV pushback in Australia

That would be nice, but collectively we can't afford to wait for everyone to become enlightened - there's significant flow on effects on having transport electrified that we need. And that's not just for the overall climate change problem. Each naysayer slows the overall adoption, plus slows...

Mike Cannon-Brookes lobbies for Australian Gigafactory

There's another factor going for Australia as well - political stability. However, while I can see getting to the battery level possibly coming about, making vehicles might be a stretch. What could be interesting though is if from the battery manufacturing they would be willing to sell to...

Tesla Roadside Assistance in Australia: limitations?

I probably should follow up - I found a local tyre centre that could get the correct tyre in over night. And they had a mobile van service that came to my place. The punctured tyre was repaired (after being told it wasn't going to be able, but that's another story). Got the new one on and the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I've had the car now for just over 1 week, and on Friday I got upgraded to 2022.24.5. I think I have to give up on TACC as the phantom braking makes things too unsafe. Auto-steer doesn't deal with cornering very well - it's like a rank beginner that turns late and doesn't follow a good...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That's what I meant by "Offer something". And I agree we've got to get past these phases. Get the basic mundane stuff right first (TACC vs phantom braking or auto-steer weirdness) before pushing FSD.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I suspect if/when they crack the issues with Tesla vision that part of the solution is going to be hardware based, e.g. better cameras. If that happens they better offer something to the existing customers to get their systems fixed or I have a hunch a class lawsuit will come their way...

Tesla Roadside Assistance in Australia: limitations?

After some investigation and discussion with a tyre place, the tyre is unrepairable. It's got 2 holes close to each other, so the plug repair system allegedly won't be suitable. Have ordered another tyre to replace it (from the tyre place), it should be here tomorrow and they've got a mobile...

Tesla Roadside Assistance in Australia: limitations?

I picked up my Tesla on Friday, went for a drive on Saturday, and got a puncture in the front right tyre. So I got to try out Tesla roadside assistance. They couldn't get a loaner wheel to me, but they organised a flat bed to take us home. That all worked out well and for the help we got it...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Picked up today from the Brisbane centre. Lots of vehicles there getting prepped. Absolutely loving it, although there's a lot to get used to with it. The system calibrated quickly, so I was able to have a good drive back up to the Sunshine coast using Autopilot. It even handled the...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yesterday I got a call and my delivery today has been bumped to tomorrow. First World Problems, etc, but it's a bit annoying having to juggle appointments around, etc. I was lucky I was having a "staycation" this week (nice coincidence, not planned for the delivery date), so it's no impact to work.

    3 Phase Powerwall

I've got 3 phase + Powerwall, put in April 2021. Yes, you have to pick a phase for the PW, and what you want to have connected to that phase.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yes, agreed. Another thing in favour of doing it that mitigates the resale issue: The value of the car right now (not factoring in 2nd hand sale loss) is about $10+k over what I'm paying for it. Sinking some of that into the PPF, etc would be "covered" by the higher "starting" price. I also...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

All good reasons and part of why I dither. Well, except for me I don't care about "easy to wash" - I am lazy enough that will be someone else's job, so how easy it is doesn't worry me. :) I would like to make it look extra glossy, but I suspect that's not enough to justify getting over the...
