Calling all Residence Bel-Air owners who want a charger installed

Hi. Are you guys using EV Power? Originally, I was going to run a cable from my apartment in my building (from 2nd floor) and that would have cost me $40K. However, my building was quite accommodating and actually decided to make the entire car park EV friendly and the building paid for the...

    charging etiquette

I've been to Hopewell on weekends and if you're there by 11 or so, SC spots are usually open. From 12-2 I'd forget about it. On Sundays it's also better because most people don't have drivers on Sundays. On Saturdays, you see a lot of drivers sitting in their car charging and presumably...

Any update from Tesla on this? It'll be so nice to have navigation like every other car on the road!

Hi, lx3h, yes I believe it was Phase 4 and the chargers are on the first floor more or less as you come in.

[On-Going] Model S-friendly & Best Car Park List

I drove to Ma On Shan Sunshine City yesterday and found that the parking was very comfortable for the Model S. Spaces were wide. Lanes were big. Always nervous in NT about parking but turned out great. Please add to the map. They even have 2 coned off EV parking spaces (I parked in one of...

After rebooting the car a couple of times, Rdio is working again. Wonder when Navigation is coming... Total disappointment on that front.

    6.1

Hi. Does anyone have trouble with Rdio and 6.1? After upgrading my Rdio seems to be not working. Wondering whether it's Rdio or the car? Tunein works so I know it's getting the 3G.

3G not working: need to replace SIM

Yep. I took mine in on Saturday and there were at least 3 others doing it then. Really annoying.

    Cost of Electricity in HK

So I've been asked a few times by friends and family and finally decided to calc it. The cost I get is approximately HK$100 to run 284KM. Which is close to what Lext had before on HK$120 to fill a the 85 battery (the 85 battery at 90% charge gives me 344 KM average range).

OpenChargeMap - let's make it better!

Actually, had a quick question. For those of you that have the 13A cable. When you are charging your car, say in a mall, is the cable locked to your car? I believe it should be but has anyone tried? I would hate to be charging one day at a mall and walk out and find out that someone walked...

OpenChargeMap - let's make it better!

Wow. Awesome. I'll definitely contribute as need be. I've decided to shell out the 3700 to get the 13A cable. We do need to show that we are supportive of parking lots putting in any kind of outlet so need to use. I just wished Tesla would have been have thoughtful and given us the 13A...

    6.0 firmware for HK cars

My car was just updated to 6.0. Pretty seamless. As far as I can tell, the main difference is calendar and Keyless driving. Keyless driving freaks me out a little bit. Now if someone cracks my pw and has a phone, they can drive my car away? Not sure I'm a fan of this. I wonder how secure...

[On-Going] Model S-friendly & Best Car Park List

Curious. Has anyone come across a car park that does not use a 13A connector? So far, the places I wanted to charge have 13A only. To do 13A, you unfortunately have to buy another cable which is a steep $3700 as previously mentioned. I'm thinking about the 13A cable but not sure if you...

    Autopilot in Hong Kong?

I asked a Tesla guy in Tsuen Wan yesterday and they said it's not an upgrade as it's a different technology that doesn't exist in the Model S today. So definitely no upgrade. Very disappointing. However, I'll be quite happy when they get the darn navigation to finally be approved by HK...

Delivery process - diary and opinions

Hi Markwj, I was wondering which proclip did you get? The one that hangs from the bottom rail of the screen? How do you like it? Is it stable? Wondering if that would damage the rail? Thinking of getting one for my iPhone 6+ so wanted to make sure it works well before spending the ~$100...

    6.0 firmware for HK cars

Markwj, is there navigation on 6.0?? Also, how did you start the download? It hasn't asked me yet. Is there something I can do to force the issue? Thanks.

Charger solution on private car parking space

Mine was about 10k to install. I will have a separate meter. My building saw the benefits of meeting the demand and that it would potentially increase the value of the building by doing this. We're actually still in process of finishing everything so for now, I have a temporary solution. EV...

Charger solution on private car parking space

Aon covered the charging facility in my carpark. I live in one of the buildings in Jardine's Lookout and my management was quite supportive of me getting a Tesla. We are in the process of upgrading our network for the entire building so that it can handle multiple EV's in the building. EV...

Financing and insurance in Hong Kong

I got insurance from Aon and loan from Orix. Aon came out to be quite aggressive (vs. Liberty, AIA and Direct) on prices so definitely check with them. First car in HK in over 10 years so no NCD and still came out reasonable. Under 15k for Aon. Slightly higher deductible but figured with NCD...

    Floor mats

Just got my Model S today. Wanted to note that the cars in HK come with removable carpet floor mats for front and rear seat. However, if you're looking for rubber, not sure where. I was worried it'd have no mats at all like most cars in the US. As for the car itself... Nice!

Hi Shiadawg, do you get the VIN yet? if you do, it will replace the RN number and display at the left bottom corner of the dashboard. thanks! Is this the VIN: 5YJSB3H17EFP4....? What does it mean?

Tesla Motors HK - lack of communication?

RN810... I confirmed my order on 3/1. Non Signature. The only message I get on the Dashboard site is: "We have begun sourcing parts for your Model S." Very annoying. At least now the first Signatures are finally arriving. I'm still waiting for a call back from Tesla.

Tesla Motors HK - lack of communication?

So frustrating. I just spoke to them in the morning and they called me back in the afternoon to tell me delivery not till mid October. I was livid. I said when did you find this out and why didn't anyone tell me? They said we just found this out. So it's all a coincidence the day I call...

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

Hi. So I am dealing with EV Power and trying to figure out how to install a charger into my apt building. Not an easy process. For now, we're exploring how to get the whole building set up. It's a interesting process that I hope we can figure out before the car arrives! We're a 2 phase...

    Charging Stations

Hi. I was wondering, do you know if the Model S can be charged simply by a normal 13A plug. I was told it can but overtime, because the Tesla will require so much power that the plug will melt. Is this true? Anyone have this experience? They're trying to convince me to buy an entire system...

    Hong Kong First Registration Tax

Hi. I spoke to Tesla today. I don't think it's 100% that the FRT is renewed? It has only been proposed but they still have to vote on it? Any view on this? I don't want to pay an extra $500K for the car. Actually, I won't.... Appreciate any thoughts.

    Charger quotes

For those of you looking for charger help, Telsa sent me to EV Power. I haven't put it in yet but in discussions. The disappointment is the FRT. Not officially waived is what I understand? Anyone hear differently? Not paying an addition $500k.
