MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

To estimate capacity you use the last 30 miles energy screen, multiply estimated miles remaining by average Wh/mi (on the left and right of the graph) then that gives you Wh at current battery percent. Then you do what you said, divide those miles by capacity in percent remaining. I thought...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I can make separate thread about it if you think people would be interested. My first thread was moved here by a mod so I just wasn't sure and decided to be safe and post here instead. The setup isn't really about being cost effective to be honest, I won't ever make up the cost. And I know it...

    A Digital Designer's POV on V11

I got my model 3 a month ago and I was shocked at how bad the UI/UX were. We have one screen, one option to control things in the car. And it is terrible. On top of being terrible, there is zero way to modify any of it. Easily my biggest disappointment with the car. Makes no sense how bad...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Yep, that sounds exactly like what I thought about the Orbitals. I'm also assuming the spoiler causes a bit of a hit since it kind of directs the air up a little instead of what the normal back of the car does. Like you said, the lowering I have also read can make a big difference, so I am...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Couple questions for this thread - Just got my Model 3 LR a month or so ago about 800 miles on it so far, US based. I wasn't going to check what my estimated max capacity was because I didn't want it weighing over my head if it was lower than it should be (I've had this with laptops and...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I have a 2 kWh Bluetti battery pack that I use as the interface between my 700W solar panels and my car. The Bluetti lets me choose 50 Hz or 60 Hz output and the Tesla charger works with either one, so I thought I'd ask. More deets if interested: I currently charge from the Bluetti at 16A...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Does anyone know if there is any difference in charging at 120V 16A 50 Hz vs 60 Hz? I know the difference will be small (if any) but I have both options available to me at the push of a button so I thought it'd be worth an ask even if the difference is only like 1% or something.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Wow, yeah that is dramatically different. I assumed the regular TOU plans were all that were available. Great to know, thank you!

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I looked at all available plans just the other day, and didn't see anything cheaper than what I had. Don't remember seeing anything related to EVs though, I wonder if that is hidden somewhere else... I will double check soon, thanks for the info

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

What I quoted is the lowest rate on the TOU plan where I live. $0.454/kWh is the lowest, gets up to 0.59/kWh on peak times. I know other places in California are also extremely expensive, just sort of meant the rest of the country. I've lived in almost a dozen other states and they were all a...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

That is awesome and I totally agree. I've always wanted to do it. Unfortunately I don't own a house yet so a real solar setup isn't practical. I bought three 300W portable solar panels that are just laying in the back yard of the house I'm renting a room in, and a Bluetti AC200P - which is...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Fair enough! Thank you sir. If I can angle my panels correctly soon, I should be able to add about 10 mi/range on a sunny day right now, and probably up to 13 ish mi/day in the summer. Still happy with that :)

I see! Thank you for the response. My room where I work is directly above my Tesla, definitely within Bluetooth range. Are you saying I should turn off Bluetooth so the car can't talk to the phone at all and "wake up"?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I'm consistently going up anywhere between 3-6 miles per day including the idle range loss using my solar setup, so there is definitely net gain. I charge twice a day for approximately an hour and a half to 2 hrs at 1900W using the solar setup Also, I didn't get the solar setup because it...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Is there no way to reduce the 2-4 miles while sleeping? That seems obnoxious, how can it need an entire kWh just sitting there in a day. Add that up over a 10 year lifetime of the vehicle and that is $1700 of electricity cost where I live. Again, it would make more sense to me if it it...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Hey all, I know this has been asked a thousand times. I've done a bunch of Googling but the UI on the Model 3 apparently has changed some and options got renamed or something because I can't find a lot of the things mentioned? I'm just looking to refresh the topic and see if anyone has any good...
