Is there any solution to the poor inductive phone charger behavior in Model Y?

Does anyone have a diagram of where the coils are actually located in the charging pad area? That might help gauge where we should be trying to place the phones.

Charging Port door closes immediately after opening

That's the default estimate so they can be ready to do it, but from the firmware update they pushed to me - seems most likely a software issue between the door open sensor and the car.

Charging Port door closes immediately after opening

Had this issue pop up today so I made a service request. Had tried the manual pull method, and it did not work. Mobile service messaged me within about an hour and pushed a firmware update to my car (2024.2.7), which is the same version that my car was already on. But somehow it worked. Car...

    Wireless charging question

Using the LaterCase aramid case for my iPhone 15 Pro along with the ESR MagSafe attachment. The car does a great job of heating my phone up to boiling while adding minimal amounts of power. I don't count on the wireless being able to add charge quickly, use the center console USB-C ports when I...

    question on Scheduled Departure charging

    Preconditioning schedule

If you have an iPhone (can probably do it with Android too) you can use the Shortcuts app to create an automation. I've got mine set to the following:

Is it possible to enable Sentry mode for pre-defined hours?

Really? I notice a pretty big difference in lvl1 charging speed when Sentry is on vs off. 10% would take roughly less than 10hrs with Sentry off, but go 10hrs+ with Sentry on.

Is it possible to enable Sentry mode for pre-defined hours?

If you have an iPhone you can set up automations in the Shortcuts app to run at the specified times. I just tried it out and made the 2 below:

Autosteering chooses curve speed like a racedriver, is that expected?

The behavior you want is part of FSD, not the basic Autosteer functions. Autosteer is not meant to be used for onramps and the like.

    MYLR snow performance

Slowly and carefully :) But seriously, rear is the recommended if you only have 2 socks, but you could always put some on the front if you want.
  13. U

    MYLR snow performance

Rear. The rear wheels are the primary drive wheels on the Y, fronts only engage for more power/accel or if loss of traction in the back is detected. Rear is also the regen wheels too.

    Yet another 2023 Model Y road-trip experience

Nice write up. Some thoughts/comments: - You went up to 90% for your first charging stop, charging slows drastically once SOC goes above 60-70%, might want to consider running 10-60% for road trips in the future as it might save time overall. - AP disabled for remainder of drive, if you put it...

    80% to 100% how long

For your question about the super charger - car charges faster when at a lower charge state, so going above like 70% makes your charge stops a lot longer. More frequent stops with short charges would be faster.
  16. U

    80% to 100% how long

If you are trying to limit time the battery is at 100%, I use the off-peak charge scheduling to finish about 30min before my departure. Let’s the car manage when to start charging in order to finish at 100% right before you leave.

    Battery Range after year

It did. I only check when I make the drive up to visit the MIL every few months, since that’s the only time I charge to 100%. It has usually ranged in the 320s the times I have paid attention.

    Battery Range after year

2023 MYLR picked up Nov 4, 2022 with 6.4k miles on it. Current range at 100% is 329 miles (just did a max charge yesterday for the Thanksgiving drive to family). Not really babied, but only 12% SC, rest is lvl2 home charging that I have set to 50% since I have a really short commute 1-2x per week.

    Tire foam, remove or not?

Let's say there are 1,000 instances of the foam causing an issue. That's 0.02% of Ys and 3s of the road. I guess it's up to you to weigh if that probability is lower or higher than someone mucking up a tire foam removal by themselves.

    Charging USB-B devices

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of USB-C to micro-USB cables on Amazon. Not sure what your concern is, it's no different than USB-C to USB-A type cables. 2023.6.11

I actually noticed this on basic AP on my road trip this last weekend. I thought it was from an earlier update and just had not seen the behavior since I'm not on highways with trucks very much. Car definitely slides closer to the opposite side of the lane when there's a large trunk next to you.

Anyone have State Farm Drive Safe?

We had it for a short while with our 2007 Civic Hybrid but got rid of it. Why? Because I got dinged for 2 "extreme acceleration events" in 1 week. I don't think the words "extreme acceleration" and Civic Hybrid had ever been used in conjunction before. That POS takes almost 12s to go 0-60 and...

Best reliable SSD for Sentry on Model Y

Like mentioned in a few other posts, high endurance SD cards are rated for more write cycles and a wider operating temperature range than most USB thumb drives and SSDs. SSDs are a good option if music storage is needed but 1TB for dash and sentry is just overkill. The whole larger = less write...

Best reliable SSD for Sentry on Model Y

A high endurance SD card will have better survivability (rated to run at lower and higher temps than an SSD) than and SSD and likely cost a lot less. I’m using a 256 Samsung Pro Endurance and it looks like it’s only $30 on Amazon currently.

    Advice on Wall Connector install

If your electrician knows what they are doing, then there's not delta in risk for 40A vs 48A. Does your city/town require permitting/inspection? As for the charging rate - there's also no real life benefit to the battery between 40A and 48A.
