    Hows your adaptive high beam?

Driving home this evening the sky was still bright, the hedge lined lanes were dark and i really needed high beam but it stayed on dipped. The light sensor must be looking up rather than forward, had to pull the stalk back to keep high beam on until the sky got dark enough to keep high beam on...

Last night i had the "checking for update" prompt which has always meant an update would be available, this morning, "you vehicles software is up to date" so frustrating!!!

    Crack in a CrossClimate 2

Depends how deep it is. If it's deep enough to expose the cords then it is scrap, too long for a puncture repair and in a non repairable location anyway.

Is there still the option to calibrate the headlights in the service menu after the update?

    New Highland UK - stalks

Excellent video that clearly shows with indicators on the steering wheel in some situations you will miss indicate or not bother indicating at all. The only way i would buy a Tesla with buttons is if you can get a S3XY indicator stalk.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Yes but at the moment i'm stuck with the dipped beam pattern which has the high square block of light on the nearside. As most of my driving is on undulating bendy country roads that block of light is quite often blinding oncoming vehicles and the ones i am following, i find myself dropping back...

Looks to work very well but i think it was a bit slow reacting to the motorbike.

    [UK] 2024.8.x

This is THE update i have been waiting for as unless your driving on a flat straight road the dipped beam pattern has always wound me up along anyone i've been blinding with my lights.

    2024 Insurance Costs

Just received my tractor insurance renewal letter at £550, did an online quote using the same insurer with just a few amendments was £450. Couldn't proceed to purchase as online payment wouldn't work so phoned them up and using exactly same amendments price now £350🤪

Auto Defogger - how to turn it off ?

It"s hard to decide what causes me more annoyance, auto defogging, auto wipers and the headlights all jostle to take top spot depending on the driving situation.

    MYLR all season tyres

Sorry meant 255 is the smallest size for 9.5" hence the stretch look
  16. O

    MYLR all season tyres

Think they are 9.5" so top limit of 255 tyres.
  17. O

    MYLR all season tyres

They look just about flush with the rim which is better than most but probably won't offer much protection to kerb rash, not helped by the stretch look.
  18. O

    MYLR all season tyres

Thanks for the information. Going by the pictures i've seen they do look to have the best rim protection of the All Season tyres.

    MYLR all season tyres

Did you have trouble sourcing these as they seem to be in short supply? I nearly bought a set of these second hand on Ebay but was worried about finding someone willing to fit them and not knowing what condition they would be in so passed.

    MYLR all season tyres

Agree that you get a different opinions depending on who your talking to, i have had tyre shops tell me they won't fit non TO tyres to Teslas and others that are not bothered. He did make me panic a bit so thought i would let the insurance company know i have non standard tyres so as not to give...

    MYLR all season tyres

Earlier in the thread where I was moaning about Hankook tyres being particularly bad for getting cut to pieces by stones, well I take it back because the Good Year asymmetric 3 I have are just as bad. Seeing as my tyres don’t last long enough for the tread to wear out I thought I would try some...

    Auto de-fogging

You are quite right, the ac compressor will be running all the time even when not showing on the display. I was thinking of how a traditional ac system works but the Tesla heat pump is way more complicated than that. Just watched this video that explains it very well but my head still hurts...

    Auto de-fogging

Now the weather has warmed up a bit its stopped defogging all the time and the AC is on most of the time, when it was colder and non stop defogging the AC was off. You would think it would run AC when defogging, think its software rather than the sensor.

    Auto de-fogging

Last winter defogging only when needed, this winter it's been every drive and mostly not needed. After reading this thread and getting annoyed at the hot head cold legs auto climate i booked a Service Appointment to get it checked out. Just did a 45 minute drive after booking in and of course...

    MYLR all season tyres

Such a shame Tesla specified rims an inch too wide, the Conti's look the best of the 4 seasons for rim protection but i hate the stretched look of any tyre fitted to the 19" rims.

    [UK] 2023.44

As it looks like Tesla aren't going to be enabling the matrix headlights anytime soon i would at least like an update to sort the dipped beam pattern. I drop the height of the lights down a few clicks but the right side is then too low and the near side is still blinding people. The pattern...

    MYLR all season tyres

They have done 15k miles, no problems with wear just lots of cuts. I do a lot of country lane driving that have tractors dropping mud and stones on them but have not seen the amount of cuts i'm getting on the Hankooks before. Wish they looked like yours!

    MYLR all season tyres

I would be interested to know if those of you running 4 season tyres find them more susceptible to punctures, when i had them on my van they were very good at collecting stones in the tread. Just got another puncture in the front Hankook tyre, that must be about 7 altogether in 15k miles. Had to...

LV insurance hike - quick sense check

Renewal time for my Y, it has gone up from £650, at the time the most i had paid for insurance, to £950 with Admiral. Reading this thread guess it's not too bad😳. The comparison sites were coming back with figures around £1300 including Admiral, usually they are lower than the renewal figure...

M3 Refresh - Are Indicator buttons really poor design?

As someone that has trouble using the scroll wheel volume control when it's upside down🤪 i'm pretty sure i wouldn't cope with the indicators buttons when the wheel is turned. More of an annoyance would be the dipped beam button, auto is much better but i still use manual a lot and can find the...

New Tesla Owner & a Flat Tyre!!

    2023.12...

Being able to control the wipers with the scroll wheel is great, was a major reason i was thinking of getting the S3XY Buttons but maybe won't bother now. Also just found out that holding the scroll wheel to the left moves straight from auto to off rather than having to keep pressing it.

    Curb rash

The Kia EV6 appears to have a wheel/ tyre combo that would offer a less stretched fitment. A quick search brings up 20x8J or 20x8.5J wheel with a 255/45R20 tyre vs Teslas 20x9.5J, 255/40R20 setup.

Power steering vibration on Model Y

Yes i have experienced the same as you, it was when stationary but near the end of a 170 mile drive so nothing to do with the steering rack being cold. Not happened since.

M3 been in bodyshop for 5+ months - both batteries dead

This is really bad and i feel sorry you, i would say it's good it is a lease car that you can hand back after the two years is up. If it was my car, that i have bought outright and plan to keep long term, i would be really peed off. One of the things Tesla make a big fuss about in the owner's...

MY Parcel shelf not staying folded

My parcel shelf doesn't have the extra fold like the one in the video so just slides forward again when you push it back which is annoying. To get round this i did this easy mod, used a couple of those plastic packing bits you get supplied with TV wall brackets and self tapping screws just a bit...

Have you lost faith in Tesla?

Its not all bad at Tesla. Here are a couple of under hood comparison pictures between the Model Y and Ford Mach E with a Munrow video on the same subject, not biased but based on fact i think.

    Seat cover reccomendation

Have these as i wanted covers that were quick and easy to put on and remove. They only cover the front of the seat and dont go round the sides so won't interfere with the air bag and seat controls. Made of wetsuit material i think, i've ended up leaving them on most of the time as they make the...

    MYLR all season tyres

The design of the Gemini alloys doesn't help the tyre with rim protection, it has a lip that the aero hubcap fits inside that wouldn't be there on a normal alloy. The depth of the standard fit Hankook rim protection is approximately 16mm and is only just flush with the lip on the alloy wheel so...
  44. O

    MYLR all season tyres

The Hankooks have got some seriously deep rim protection which only just covers the rim, i've just fitted some GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric that have rim protection but don't cover it like the Hankooks do, better than the CC2s by the look of it though! Shame the rims aren't 9" instead of 9 1/2"...

    Slow puncture in Model Y

Yes it is a stone, i've had two left rear and one right rear puncture all caused by stones. Should be getting two new tyres fitted tomorrow if they come in, have gone for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 for £365, was thinking of getting some Nankangs if they need changing so often! Will see if it...

    Slow puncture in Model Y

Third puncture today in only 4.5k miles, think a new tyre is required as its right on the edge. Never had so many punctures in such a short space of time. Going to avoid Hankook and give something else a try i think.

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Just watched a walk around video of the Volvo EX90 by Out of Spec Reviews. Said it has 8 cameras, 1 Lidar, 5 Radar and 16 USS so clearly not going down the Tesla route. The Lidar on the roof does make it look a bit like a Taxi but a price worth paying if it works.

    Slow puncture in Model Y

Have also got as couple of slow punctures in the rear left tyre caused by small stones 4k mile covered. I removed all 4 wheels and went round tyres picking out all the stones and couldn't believe how many deep cuts there were. The Hankooks seem to be far more prone to this than any other tyre i...

    Model-Y headlights - getting flashed

The dipped beam on the Model Y is a bugbear of mine, not changed with any update, it's just the wrong shape with a big step up on the near side and should be flatter. Adjusting the Matrix lights are different to the standard headlights, the level you set them to when calibrating is not where...
