Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

CT is under 15k total delivered (or was at the time of the June recall, they sent a ton out the door EOQ) So a higher number for S/X.

Master thread: Cybertruck insurance premium quotes AND/OR repair estimates, if you had an accident.

I'm paying 1100/6mths for a MS LR and CT AWD, not sure what the breakdown is, honestly. The CT was $18 more than the MY every 6 months.
  3. U

    Cybertruck FS now or wait?

The Highland is a refresh after 6 years. The CT will get one too, in 5-6 years, but this is the truck they are delivering for a while. The only thing waiting will get you is a lower chance of having failures. There's a relatively high failure in brand new releases. Those failures will be fixed...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

They've delivered under 15k CT total. While it is picking up, it's a small blip on their total numbers.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

The S is better on the interstate (smother, doesn't get pushed in the wind at all) and has more range.

End of Q2 Model S Deals?

    They did after last quarter.
  9. U

    White or Grey Decor?

Honestly, all the ones in Charlotte were basically perfect, mirror finished...wheels and undercarriage cleaned, tire shine, interior was spotless, even the bed was crazy clean. They had like 10 for delivery with each owners name in the window.
  10. U

Do any of the windows come tinted?

The rear was measured at 22.9%, the front was basically nothing.

    A Cybertruck Tow Competition...

I assume they meant the CB, which this wasn't, but still...we know it also can't tow a Porsche 911 faster than the 911 in the 1/4 mile, too. The CB would certainly have been closer (it wouldn't win) and that was not a stock F350, it was custom built truck.
  12. U

    Cybertruck is a scam.

Yes it is and yes it's more expensive. Both can be true and that's fine.
  13. U

What to make of Elon saying FS will finish soon and non-FS will start production in 3Q?

Some here will get defensive about this, but it's absolutely true. CT works great to haul around town, fast, high ride, maybe the smoothest ride of all trucks on the market (definitely the best riding Tesla), but it can't and won't be good at towing. It may be good at off-roading, but it's not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

As I said here when he stated it. He said between 12.4, 12.5, and 12.6, they can't tell which is the best version because they can't get an intervention. If that were true, why are they struggling to release a version of 12.4 to the masses that isn't a regression. He even said on Twitter that...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Most, including people like Whole Mars, believe that 8/8 will be the platform reveal, not anything advanced. Sure, there could be some scripted demo, but as most reveals with Tesla, it likely won't be a ready to launch product. Also, the intervention thing he was saying 12.4, 12.5, and 12.6...

The rumor is that Rivian will use the money to build their GA plant and the Scout will be built by them, but it's just a rumor.
  18. U

    White or Grey Decor?

Not for CyberBeast. With that delivery timeline, it looks like CB.
  19. U

new yoke retrofit quote, should I do it?

That's your preference. Many don't like that the wheel blocks a portion of the cluster, regardless of seat position/wheel position. The car was and UI was made for a yoke and I think it's a much better experience.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'll have to look, but I believe someone said they could read a book, but it's made to recognize a phone because it's illegal to text and drive in the states it is certified in. Edit: It says you can read a book, text, answer e-mails, but I think the phone thing is because of texting/phone...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

It's everywhere.... https://www.prescouter.com/2024/04/mercedes-benz-level-3-drive-pilot/ Currently, Mercedes allows drivers to watch movies and play games, but the camera monitors mobile phone use and someone falling asleep.

MS is faster, lower, feels more planted, X is smoother over bumps, higher, a bit more loose into turns. They are very similar cars built on the same chassis.

This is now resolved with 2024.20.X.
  24. U

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The point of my post is that with L3, you will still have L2 since L3 is limited. Monitoring is still needed with L3 in general, even if the solution itself doesn't NEED it. Mercedes does monitor with L3, though. None require monitoring, but as we know, L2 systems "need" it to ensure the...

    CyberTruck (CT) waiting room

The tracker is made up from fans. It's not in anyway accurate.
  26. U

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Agreed on the last point, but it's pretty easy to keep your phone out of the camera's way while driving. I don't think the IR in Teslas are in the proper position or the proper type to see through most polarized sunglasses. That's the big reason why "no nag" doesn't and will not work with them...
  27. U

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

L3 will revert down outside of the specific conditions, so monitoring would still be needed. L4 and L5 would not have monitoring.
  28. U

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Elon addressed this at some point. At first there was no monitoring. They designed the car to be actually full-self driving. The camera was for Robotaxi. People abused it so at first they did wheel torque, then they incorporated the camera, but neither were originally designed for that...
  29. U

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

What a strange post. You know that, currently, sunglasses allow you to look at the screen or your phone as it just measures your head angle with them on. If you don't know that, there's videos showing it and it's really easy to test. That's the reason why with sunglasses the camera monitoring...

    Cybertruck is a scam.

And it's bricked. Tesla will send a tow truck. I was pulling into my drive way and it said power reduced, then it said rear steering disabled. At first it said, ok to drive may reset after exiting vehicle. I let it go to sleep and now it won't drive.
  34. U

    Cybertruck is a scam.

IMO, the CT is Tesla best driving vehicle as far as comfort, road noise, and drivability. It's the smoothest truck I've ever been in and I owned a Diesel Platinum F150 and had a F150 Lightning Platinum for a week. I love it. Exponentially better driving than my 22 MS.

He said end of next year, which probably means the beginning of 2026 for shipment.

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

I think Waymo intervenes far more than you think. I can't find any published data, but Cruise was intervening every 5 miles on average.
  37. U

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

That's an opinion. You are welcome to that, but swiping/gestures on a touch screen is more used than tapping for a reason. It's easier than pinpointing a button.
  38. U

Stalk or no stalk argument [not] settled

Down/Back for reverse is more logical. Intuitively, I would never think to swipe up for reverse. Luckily Tesla agrees. That said, I would fully support an option to invert aim.
  39. U

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

No solution will ever be 100%, Waymo, Cruise, Zoox, Tesla, etc. That's just science, no driver or vehicle is 100% reliable, ever. 99% is perfectly sufficient with the ability to remote operate as we see with Waymo (which I doubt is even 99%).

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Is this person accurate? I know Troy is really accurate, but I've never heard of this person. If so, how does everyone think the stock will do? It would be obvious then that the sales will be lower than last year. Hopefully way off, but I guess many expect that sort of performance this year.

    Issues with Windshield Wiper

A bunch were released today to schedule deliveries. Looks like they fixed a lot of them. Happy the "7-10 day" estimate was wrong.
  43. U

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

Almost positive there will be a prototype shown on 8/8. CT, M3, etc. have all had a car hand built to show upon unveiling.

What to make of Elon saying FS will finish soon and non-FS will start production in 3Q?

20k have ordered an converted to FS. It's about a 4-6k markup to get a year or two early. Worth it to some, not to others.
  45. U

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

All CT deliveries are paused for a windshield motor/wiper issue for at least 7-10 days according to Tesla Charlotte. Not the best news for EOQ and people waiting on deliveries.
  46. U

    Issues with Windshield Wiper

All CT deliveries are halted for a fix. Elon is probably not happy with that at the end of the Q.
  47. U

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

They will probably just tow it at that point.
