I received the “get ready” SMS this morning. Been on hold for two hours with CBA to increase my daily payment limit. My car was on the Euphony Ace ship. The Carways Track and Trace tracking website still doesn’t show my car’s VIN as trucked yet.

Yeah, something like that. I am planning for my small company to buy the car, then fully expense it over one year or maybe three years. No FBT for personal use. If/when FBT exemption ends, then I might personally buy it, depending on personal usage at the time etc.

Several people seem to be reporting that Tesla is bringing their EDD forward by a couple of weeks. Has anyone figured out the criteria or cut off for this? My EDD is currently August 24 - September 5, but I have a road trip planned (long ago) starting on August 24 😞.

You ordered the same as me, one week later, but are now getting it 2 weeks before me. I am guessing that you are getting someone's canceled order, rather than a new VIN assignment "on the water". Congrats!

I will have claimed all of the purchase before then (probably all in the first year), so I will have avoided all of the FBT on this purchase, even if it changes in three years time.

In case anyone is interested, I checked with my accountant, who confirmed that my business can buy the Tesla outright, even if for mostly personal use, claim it all as an expense, claim back the GST as input tax credits, no FBT to pay. Also applies to charging, accessories, on road costs...

I find that really annoying (not you, Tesla). I assumed that my January order for a Model 3 would get priority over a new order in June for a Model Y. If I had known that Tesla would prioritise the newer orders, I might have switched to a Y. 😞

I just received my call from my sales advisor "Viv" at Tesla, Chatswood (Sydney). He's about 10 through 60 calls. Estimate changed from "14-20 weeks after order date" (May 8 to June 19) to now "Second half of 2022" 🙁.
