Advice buying used MS from Carvana/Vroom?

BTW, the whole issue of mileage on an older Tesla is mostly irrelevant and should not affect the asking price. Battery condition is much more important and that is not directly linked to mileage. I'd rather have a 100K mile 2019 than a 30K mile 2016.

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

Sounds like it might be an outlier, but I wouldn’t worry about it. I have a 2014 model S with 49K miles and have gone through three batteries in that time. Each time the battery started to fail there is ample warning alerts on the dash. Usually you can run for many days if not weeks after the...

Is Tesla service deteriorating as they scale??

I'm assuming this is satire, right? You realize that a one day old forum post on a tiny site with only 2500 accounts is not the same as polling all of the users, right? In fact if you adjusted the "complainers" ratio relative to 2500 people, that means percentage wise more like 2% of people are...

Is Tesla service deteriorating as they scale??

Hmmm. All very interesting. Think I'll try a few stats. Tesla has built about 350,000 cars to date. Let's say 15% no longer exist - through crashes, tired batteries or something else. That leaves about 300,000 still around. Some people own more than 1; let's say that's 20% of the vehicles...

Blog Model S is First EPA-Rated EV to Hit 400 Miles of Range

Hmmm... this is finally getting interesting enough for me to take action - or at least thinking about it. My 2014 85 is the best (daily driver) car I've ever had in my 64 years of car ownership (first car: a 1931 Rover 10 - don't ask). After getting it new and driving it for only 3 months or...

    Funniest Tesla Question Thread

"do you need an extension cord. have no idea how to answer that" How about: "Well, in the 2014-15 cars they only included a 250 mile cord, but in the new cars, they gave us a 300 mile cord to use..."

    12V Battery condition?

Let me try again with my question. Is it reasonable that a new 12V battery should need replacement after only 16 months and 8,000 miles? This is on a 2014 MS 85. The first 12V battery lasted 4 years. Neither my driving patterns or charging routines have changed.

    12V Battery condition?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help. However, maybe I should have been more clear in my question. Regardless of whether using a battery trickle charger is wise or not, my puzzlement is that the battery charger shows the battery as being quite healthy whereas the MS software says it...

    12V Battery condition?

I had a long trip away from home and left my 2014 Model S 85 hooked up to my charger for 10 weeks while away. I set the charging capacity to 50% to keep the main battery healthy. I also hooked up a battery conditioner to the 12V battery to avoid it being drained. On my return yesterday, the...

Ship with 1000 Models 3's are on route...

I should have paid more attention but I just saw a red M3 in Falmouth, Cornwall - 65 miles from the nearest supercharger. Didn't even notice if it was RH drive or had a UK reg. Duh on me. Maybe a visitor from Norway...

Google Chrome coming to our car!

Thanks for the tips on clearing nav addresses. Sadly it made no difference.

Google Chrome coming to our car!

I wouldn't go as far as @mai_tsla in commenting on the possible effect of Chrome on the battery. However, he has a point. I use Chrome on my laptop and there are these nasty support routines in the background called "Google Chrome Helper" that eat up CPU resource, so it could have a bad...

    Best 19 tires replacement

... I guess the load rating of 102 would make the walls stiffer than the OEM rating of 98 so would give a rougher ride?

    Best 19 tires replacement

I have a 2014 S85 (RWD) with just 35K on the clock. OEM tires are Michelin Primacy MXM 245/45R19. Shame on me, I never rotated the wheels once in 5 years. So now I have rear wheels with only about 1mm tread left, while the fronts have 5mm. I'd say my usual driving style is 6-7/10ths. I live...

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

Thanks - I assumed that as you can see from my original question. However, if you look closely at the photo in my original post, it can be seen that there is no negative post on my car - only the red positive one. The second part of my question was whether these posts could be accessed from...

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

Thank you Kenz. I agree. That is why I'd like to know an easy way to connect the tender to the 12V battery

Any reason not to hook up a battery tender to the 12 volt battery ?

A couple of times on this thread, members have asked a basic question: "How do hook up a battery tender to the 12V battery?" but the answers have not been detailed enough for newbies like me - not a newbie to Tesla, just to the forum. I've owned a 2014 MS 85 since new that now has only 35K...

    Sleep Mode For Dummies

I have to bump this up as I have a few questions about sleep, too. I picked up my new S yesterday and enjoyed the 45-minute tutorial on using the car. However, nothing was said about sleep mode - or deep sleep. either. I drove the car tonight and left it in a parking lot (showing 196 miles on...
