    Tparts data module

Sorry mate, been ages since I did this. Best as I remember once the bottom is loose you start lifting it from there gently but firmly back and forth and some of the top bits will start to loosen up enough to get a spudger in. I think I started from one side (closer to the centre of the car)...

If Scourie CCS is down, will Type 2 suffice? Considering hiring a Model 3 for Fort-William - Lock Assynt trip

Just a warning with ABRP, the timings it gives can often be extremely optimistic, at least in my experience. Be sure to budget some extra time. And if you're presumably driving the A9 into Inverness from the south, please note the signs with 50 and a little lorry (truck) picture don't apply to...

    Banning EV's from multi-storeys *sigh*

High energy density battery tech is still relatively new. Petrol/diesel isn't going to become less flammable in future, it's kind of necessary for it to be flammable, but batteries can become safer and certainly seems like some of the newer tech will be, but isn't mainstream yet.

    Tesla Milk Float when reversing

I thought the reverse beep sound had been replaced in the last few years because it is hard to locate the source (and also it's very annoying) and now an air pressure release type sound is being used.

Don't need to tell me, I'm actively trying to escape the Central Belt :)

Charge Place Scotland Tariffs by Council

Many of the more scenic touristy areas of Scotland don't really have anything in terms of rapid charging beyond 50kw. As an example once you're past Inverness on the NC500 you'll be stuck with what you can find, which is usually CPS and 50kw at best. Many of their 50kw chargers deliver less...

Wiki UK and Ireland Supercharger Site News

I see Brora has been pushed back to end of 2023 as well. Can't say I'm surprised as I've seen no progress whatsoever. Would've thought they'd try to get it in for the summer NC500 tourist rush. Looking forward to the complaints about CPS. We could definitely use something around Keith/Elgin...

Lane departure avoidance & Forward Collision Warning

Cheers for this, will double check if it has been reset during an update, that'd explain why it has gone nuts of late.

Lane departure avoidance & Forward Collision Warning

Yes, for me seems it has gotten worse with recent updates. Most recently I got one for swerving gently over to the side of the road towards some parked cars to let a car going the opposite way have some more space to go past - it was very convinced I was about to hit a parked car quite some...

15.5V battery and 12V PD laptop charger

It's not unusual for the 12v socket in ICE cars to go up to 15v when the car is running cold and can go well above that if being jumped. Generally anything designed for the socket will have a bit of leeway because of this and generally should be able to run between 9 and 16v safely with...

    Bank Transfer to Tesla refused by HSBC [UK}

I had no issues paying with HSBC UK last year, as davyjohns said above used sort and account no. The app whinged it couldn't confirm the recipient details but I confirmed and payments went through fine. As above did a test payment of £100 then a few more to reach the total.

    [UK] 2022.44

I have an Android phone - it seems most of the time the phone needs to be unlocked for the car to unlock. I had assumed that's some sort of peculiarity with my particular phone but maybe not. The smart indicators thing works well about 95% the time for me. Obviously not going to work that...

Have you lost faith in Tesla?

I seem to have spent a lot of money just to be a troll. Would love to see a non-celebrity CEO - apparently awaiting his Kanye moment currently. No more BS pie-in-the-sky product announcements (eg. Cybertruck, the robot thing, FSD), focus on making the cars nicer to drive, continuously...

    Tparts data module

They are hidden all along the top of it. The plastic plugs hold in the bottom. You can check my other posts in this thread - basically gentle wiggling from the loose part until you get some gaps to get a spudger into.

    [UK] 2022.44

Is this not a thing that sometimes happens during an update, as in the headlights will re-level based on whatever you are parked on? In my case since my driveway is a downward slope, it'll be fun. I'd be surprised if they adjusted it across the board, since you can adjust them manually. I've...

    Tparts data module

It'll probably be real easy after you've removed it maybe once or twice. The panels are likely different as well, and how they are secured, especially US ones. For mine there were only three external plugs and no screws, but the tparts document suggested there'd be some number of screws, etc...

    Tparts data module

It took a while to do, the longest part of the entire job to be honest. I opened the glovebox a couple times to get at the sides from the top also. You can start to gently wiggle the panel from the bottom to loose things up, then get the spudger in a gently start to lever it with the wiggling...

    Tparts data module

For whatever it's worth, I found removing the panel covering the computer under the glovebox much more difficult than shifting the carpeted side panel near the console. The cable once connected is pretty easy to run in the gap between the clips on the console and I haven't noticed any new...

    Tparts data module

I had a cable in there taped to the power cable but it wasn't connected to anything. Had to run the cable from under the glovebox down the side of the console.

    Twitter and the Chief Twit

Since this has gone on a bit, and as someone who weakly defended Agile, I'll just add a couple points. Firstly the original intent of Agile was meant to come to some sort of common ground around some of the organisation/dev frameworks at the time (2001), and was ultimately just some principles...

    Twitter and the Chief Twit

I definitely skimmed over that - can't say I've ever seen pair programming involve two keyboards and mice connected. It's usually one person driving at a time and the other monitoring/talking through the process. Been used rather sparingly in my experience and I'm not a huge fan of it as it...

    Twitter and the Chief Twit

There are others who would agree with what I've said. Ignoring any opinions he's done some monumentally dumb things, one of which we're all enjoying watching right now. 99% of developers don't work in those kind of FAANG jobs where they get that sort of stuff. Those things only exist to...

    Twitter and the Chief Twit

It's pretty obvious that bringing Trump back will drive visits to Twitter. Maybe I'm too cynical but it seems extremely obvious. I don't think Musk is or was ever a genius. He's just a dumb kid that came from money who got lucky a few times. There are probably loads of other "Musks" out...

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

Aberdeen is a bit of a trip from Caithness :) Mainly just wanted to point out that the charging situation up past Inverness isn't as bad as you might expect. I realise they're not so useful in the built up areas and I'd not bother with the ones near where I live, but of course I'd just charge...

Starting to see overnight battery drain

Sorry, it was meant in regards to connecting via app which would presumably work OK at least while your car is on wifi even if the cellular network is down. You're running on a slightly older release now too - I've already had two updates since getting the car less than a month ago, so maybe a...

Starting to see overnight battery drain

Recent cooler weather could be affecting the percentage as the battery will have less range when cold? Would think you'd have seen that before though. I've seen the e-call messages a few times too, we are in a bit of a phone signal dead spot where we live though. Is the car not connected to...

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

Did our first proper long trip up to Caithness (added on well over 500 miles). Can confirm others' comments regarding the A9 truck limit being read constantly, not great for autopilot - we didn't bother using it at all this trip, although probably could've done on the motorway up to Perth. I...

    UK Charge Point Installer Recommendations

A good installer will guide you through this and provide quotes. Depending on the age and amount of spares in your consumer unit it may be cheaper to pick one charger over the other as for some you'll possibly need a new mini consumer unit and some extra electrical work done. Chargers like the...

    UK Charge Point Installer Recommendations

Had my Zappi installed yesterday by Voltix following several recommendations I've seen, including on here. Excellent experience all round from start to end, the installer was a lovely chap too. Was a not-straightforward install due to our house extension and old consumer unit and they were...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

I did some R&D work many years ago with the first gen Hololens and those in charge of the project were very insistent on us using some new tracking tags and library for Unity. Unfortunately the resolution of the cameras just wasn't good enough and the end user experience was awful (basically...

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

Minor adjustment to the headlight sorted this morning. Today was a good day for the auto wipers, they did great. Car got upset when I joined the A71 and fired off a lane departure warning which was amusing - it has been surprisingly nag free up 'til then. Took some rougher roads today getting...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

In the latest Dirty Tesla video he put tape over the sensors and navigate on autopilot seemed to not be using them. It does appear to do a decent job mapping the space. No idea if it stores the map when the car is off or not. Not bothered with how they develop autopilot since I still don't...

    Starlink Dish - Lightning Protection

Their custom cable is apparently just a CAT 5e ethernet cable, so you could cut it, crimp RJ-45 plugs on and stick a surge protection device in between. Apparently it's not standard PoE in that all the pairs have voltage on them because of the dish power needs (normally only two pairs), and a...

Driving a Tesla in the UK, as explained by a foreigner.

Most of the stats that appear to be referred to in here are accidents per 100,000 people or vehicles. For people UK is 2.9 and USA is 12.4 and for vehicles UK is 5.7 and US is 14.2. Per billion miles driven the figures are UK 3.8 and US 7.3. The UK figures are older (2010), so probably would...

    Starlink Dish - Lightning Protection

Very interesting topic. Planning on moving rurally in the next year and had Starlink in mind, never even though about this. AFAIK there's only normal ground bonding in the power supply so a strike would probably kill at least that. It does use PoE, and it seems like the common choice is...

Not too many cars left in Glasgow. Weather was shocking today as expected. We parked in the wrong bit of the car park but they were happy they didn't need to walk into the big car park to check out the trade-in. Very straightforward, friendly, etc. Car had all the expected bits, came with...

Q3 collections, new owners tales and experiences

Not too worried about the paint, what I've seen so far mostly seems like issues with PPF having bubbles and headlight fittings being a bit off. I suspect when I do the snow foam/pressure wash over the weekend I'll notice stuff if there is anything (usually the misfortunes of shopping centre car...

Picking up tomorrow from Glasgow, so this is good to see. I'm guessing charge was around 50%? Naturally because I'm picking the car up it'll be raining heavily so might struggle to get some pics and fully inspect the car exterior but I'll give it a go anyway. If anyone happens to see a tall...

Driving a Tesla in the UK, as explained by a foreigner.

I was suggesting that undertaking wasn't the cause, as it happens in other countries with lower death rates than the US, eg. Australia. I made no suggestion as to the cause of death rates in the US. I suggested UK death rates may be lower because average speeds here are lower because much of...

Driving a Tesla in the UK, as explained by a foreigner.

I don't think British drivers are bad exactly, it's mostly laziness and lack of consideration. Motorway driving (the few we actually have in Scotland) is actually pretty good. Driving around here in the sprawl of Edinburgh you'll generally have people cutting across you in roundabouts (because...

Driving a Tesla in the UK, as explained by a foreigner.

FWIW passing on the inside is not that unusual in Australia and people there somehow manage. It's also not illegal here although if you're specifically manouvering to undertake then you might get done for it. British drivers are mostly awful from what I've seen, terrible lane discipline, can't...

Regarding bank troubles, weirdly in spite of my predictions HSBC transferred the money across no problems to Tesla. Historically I've had loads of trouble with them in the UK to the point they once completely unprompted sent me £100 as an apology for messing me around. I got an easily...

I used the callback feature on that number and they called back in about an hour. Far better than the chat feature. In any case the delay in the final invoice appears to be related to the trade in, apparently there's something needing done on their side still to finalise everything...
