Yeah I hear you and that would bug me too. We just submitted the service request for the issues noted at delivery. The appt isn’t until July 29th. So that means we will have three weeks of driving, including some freeway time, before we will be able to have the PPF and ceramic applied.

I’m actually leaning toward just not doing the PPF or ceramic coating. Our plan is to own this car for 3-5 years and it seems like most (other than the folks on the forum here) don’t do any sort of PPF protection and everything ends up being fine.

We just picked up our MYP yesterday and noted some issues we are submitting tonight for Tesla to address. If some of these include panel gaps and trim pieces that may need to be adjusted, I assume we would need to have these items fixed before getting the front PPF and ceramic done?

Thanks for your post. Not sure I agree on the panel gap issues being overblown. We tried to pick up our MYP last week and some of the gaps were pretty bad.

We are headed back to the delivery center again for the second MYP we have been assigned. Still apprehensive given this was built two months ago, but going in with an open mind. Will check paint and panels again for any issues and fingers crossed everything will be fine with this one.

Oddly, Tesla said the car was never rejected by the customer and was never in for service / repair. Possible they are lying to us and the customer rejected due to quality concerns but Tesla just never fixed the issues? We are suspicious of the timeline given how aggressive Tesla has been but...

No, I'm just doing the front end PPF (full hood, full fenders, headlights, mirrors front bumper) + ceramic on what I assumed was the entire car. I'll have to confirm whether the cost of the ceramic was for the entire vehicle. Given the pre-discount cost I assumed it was.

I'm going through this same decision myself. Taking delivery this Saturday and debating whether to do the front PPF + ceramic. Just got a quote here from a well regarded installer in the SFV in Los Angeles. Quote was $2750 for everything and 2-3 days to do it.

I am in the Los Angeles area. I also just received the text to schedule delivery and latest date is 6/21. I still haven't set up financing yet given I just received my VIN this morning, so not sure that gives me enough time. Also on jury duty next week!

So my VIN number that I just received this morning is 296XXX. I ordered on June 6th. Does the VIN make sense for a new build, or is there some possibility this is a car another customer refused to accept?
