Actually I opted not to use my hitch riser , and just went with a 4 point sway control weight equalizer bar, to tow a 3200 lbs travel trailer

I had bought the zero contact from Tekonsha too. U-Haul could not get it to work either . So I threw it out and got a local hitch shop to install the hard wired version from Tekonsha . Found this post on TMC from my research into towing trailer wiring .

The eco hitch is great, it has 4000 lbs tow rating . I pull a 3500 lbs rv trailer with ease. Just do not let U-Haul install the brake wiring harness , if you plan to tow anything requiring a 7 pin tow plug .

Oil change is $300-$500 2025 bumper to bumper warranty runs out , or when you reach 31k miles . Probably $2k per year depends on how much you drive . After warranty runs out , it’s gets more expensive.

I was able to attach a fused positive wire to the jump post, but not able to reuse the red square cap so I taped it off. The connection is solid though . Drilled a small hole on the blade terminal to add an small nut bolt . I end up cutting the extra length of the bolt after tightening nut

Well the chains do look 👀beefy , and the trailer is 3500 lbs, but honestly when *sugar* hits the fan, I’m thinking the chain would be pulled straight and the hitch safety chain attachment being so high up, the rear bumper is gonna get cut in half anyways 🤷🏼

Jjvan I read some of your previous post on trailer relay connections. Good info. I wanted to know where you installed your 7 pin trailer connectors on your model S ? It looks very limited For space . Did you use a magnet 🧲 like Airborne did ?

Dmwahl great feedback on your experience. So instead on running a power lead (fused ) from battery directly, you where able to successfully tap the positive from the trunk ?

So Airborne, I believe you are direct connecting the wires and not using a wiring relay ? As you are concerned about power for your fridge? So I believe it’s the wiring relays are resetting it self because of the different currents going thru the wires if the park lamp driving light aren’t on...

geordi, thanks for the insight. So regardless of how I set up the trailer wiring , for my turn signals to be working , I am going to have to make sure the park lamp/headlamp are active , so I assume auto will not turn on headlamps during the day ?

I have called Tekonsha about the new higher voltage and they said only the 119251 or 119250 can handle the different voltage . I haven’t read up on TMC that anyone that has successfully installed it and got it functioning properly . (Search thread with 119251)

jjvan , I was curious , if you used a brake controller to tow your boat ? and if you did , does the models S have a brake controller plug ( like the Model X does on the left front driver interior, needs an additional Tesla pig tail harness to connect that plug )

Nokian are cheap tires overall . I have a 2020 M3 RWD and use EUROWINTER HS01 , and kick ass in the snow. You definitely have a tire traction problem, plus if it’s too cold out , all tires will slip on a sheet of ice . Be safe 👋
