Which of the following Tesla models would you purchase today (Jan-10-2024) ?

Really though any of those cars are a great value and joy to drive. Pick the one you can afford.

Texas Tesla Insurance - Cost Experience

There is no better service than when Tesla insurance covers an item (like glass) that Tesla is also repairing. In the app “use Tesla insurance?” Popped up… I clicked yes. The Tesla insurance adjuster sent 3 texts: I’ve received your claim. I am covering your claim. Your car is ready and Tesla...

Can your AC keep up with the summer heat?

I had this exact problem but I’m in Phoenix. I think it is the glass roof but there are some easy solutions. When I get in my car it’s jacket weather every time now (Phoenix joke - 65 degrees). 1. Tint to state legal maximum on all windows and get a battle tested windshield sunshade. I didn’t...

    Keeping cabin cool in summer

In Phoenix the dash will reach 180 degrees regularly, and my interior just hit 163 degrees. There are many climates where it’s not a necessary feature, but socal, AZ and Texas are a must. No-ac leaves my interior around 125 degrees in direct sunlight. That’s night and day when getting into the...

    Cabin Overheat Protection

In Phoenix two days ago my interior was 163 degrees and I only noticed because the sentry mode kept kicking off. I use no-AC cabin overheat protection and it stays about 125 degrees which is tropical paradise compared to anything that the sun touches (cement is 215 degrees). It isn’t all a...

How TF are people who live in apartments supposed to update?

[WORRY NO MORE] I set it to connect to my phones hot spot and then to NOT remain connected while in drive so I don’t use my phones data for everything else(I pay for premium connectivity). It downloads the updates once the phone is in range and they download fairly quickly on Verizon - usually...

Opinion on wheels and tires setup

Got excited and put the TSportline 18" with Michelin Pilot sports in the card plus the accessories. I dunno $3600 just seems to be a lot for a downgrade. The tires are almost double what tire rack is charging too. Ah well, Ill hold off I guess.

    Welp, we're now a 2 EV household...............and the 2nd EV ISN'T A TESLA!!! (ZOMG111ELEVENTY111!!!!)

How much is your time worth? Switching to a different charger due to slow or broken status even once a month would not be worth any difference in price. How much is peace of mind worth? If I ever fear getting stranded even once, it's worth the entire price of the vehicle. If I had to worry...

    Welp, we're now a 2 EV household...............and the 2nd EV ISN'T A TESLA!!! (ZOMG111ELEVENTY111!!!!)

I did a road trip in my friends Rivian. He is frantically looking for chargers ahead and reviews to see if they work, and does math in his head based on wh/mi to see how far he can push it. I looked at him kinda dumbfounded and said... "Wow, you don't know do you?!" Tesla automatically daisy...

Range Anxiety Planning for All Electric Household

I thought that too and then got rid of the ICE car eventually because spider webs covered it. I would go through A LOT of inconvenience in my Tesla to never deal with ICE crap accelleration, bad braking, worse safety and pay multiples in expenses. I'd think about it and maybe rent a phev for the...

Range Anxiety Planning for All Electric Household

I installed a charger at work (20 amp) and my parents house (11 kw). Have to go to a supercharger for a few minutes and watch Netflix once per month, instead of from my couch. I would watch Netflix 2 hours a week in my car instead of my couch if it meant I never had to wait for 3 hours for a...

Wipers activating unexpectedly, even on a bright sunny day.

Windshield wipers are annoying with a near full self driving car, so to protest your going back to a non-self driving car? Why not manually drive your Tesla with the wipers off? Also, it's not the bugs... clean the inside of the windshield in front of cameras on a non-humid day every 6 months...

Aftermarket yoke steering wheel in Model 3

Dunno if it's already been mentioned or not. Hand inside the yoke in parking lots. Spin the wheel 270 degrees right and left rapidly with much more control than a round wheel. Left hand: Grip top of yoke on the inside for rapid right. Bottom on the inside for left.

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

I bought 3 Teslas in 2022 that got rocked by this. Being in the car biz most of my life, I can't understand the thinking that your used car somehow retains value. Yeah, nice while it lasted before Tesla scaled up... but we all knew the scale up was coming.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

I bet less than 1% of the population would ever power their house with their car. Why you'd want your $80k-$160k supercar to be used like that instead of a $300 generator escapes my comprehension.

2018 model 3 cannot charge at some level 2 station

You have to pull up on the broken chargepoint latch button to start charging (yes the opposite of what seems reasonable). All these other charge companies were given huge incentives to INSTALL chargers, not maintain them. They are crap but there usually is a work around like this.

Is now REALLY a good time to buy a new Tesla? [Jan 2023 / April 2023]

Three Teslas with FSD here. It works fantastic. 1. Read the manual. 2. Pay attention. 3. Anticipate the obvious and predictable times where more intervention is required. Overtime number 3 has become less and less. If you are the guy who put on FSD, folded your arms and started yelling in your...

    Personal FSD Beta Disengagement Rate

People should be disengaging it fairly regularly for a few seconds at a time. It's a beta program. If the lines are all over the place or missing, construction workers are walking out around the cones, crazy drivers being unsafe, the car should not be left too guess what to do at this stage. FSD...

Warning: You can get FSD beta strike for any forced disengagement, even with FSD beta disabled in settings...

I live in a place that doesn't snow, and I use it >95% of miles I drive. It's not ready to drive in the snow or on ice yet. FSDbeta does take some learning, and then it becomes very predictable. Starting off in the middle of winter is gonna be tough; wait for a clearer day and road (I used to...

Electrek Article: "Tesla says it is adding radar in its cars next month amid self-driving suite concerns"

I have 3 Teslas, 2 with FSD and none with radars. I am very satisified with my level 2 driver assist and have no concerns. It's helps out 95% of my drives. The times it shouldn't be used is very obvious. The only concerns anyone should have with the technology is drivers who recklessly take...

    Cabin Camera Blinded Error

My 2022 Model Y performance FSDb has this issue. Every other mintute autopilot disengages at night. Oddly enough, my 2022 Model 3 performance has no infared emitters and has no problems at night with FSDb, go figured.

Setting my wife up for success with Autopilot

The biggest thing is to make sure she understands that if anything looks weird (lanes disappear, construction, police halfway in the lane), simply disengage it by taping the brake. I use my stalk as easily as a turn signal but that takes some learning. Best advice is to drive with it with her...

Just Drove My Model Y in Light Rain at Night for 1st Time with "Tesla Vision" (2022.36.6): Autopilot was **Unusable**

My wife's 2022 Model Y performance FSD needs a couple interventions per drive. My 2022 M3P on FSD is impressive to say the least. Maybe I'm just lucky but it has done a fantastic job and seems ready to send to the regulators...

Move from Audi Q7 to Model Y or alternative?

I have a Model Y performance. Hard ride? WTF are people talking about, have you all owned marshmallow Chevy Malibus or something? 2022 Model Y Performance - Dallas to Austin Roadtrip*

I used to be very nervous like this and its totally understandable. EVs are very reliable at measuring power use and requirements. Very. Autopilot issue

You aren't beta testing the autopilot unless you drive around with your hands off the wheel. It doesn't rip the steering wheel out of your hand. If it does something I dont agree with I will simply drive... hands already on the wheel. The car will stop much faster than you will so the braking...

Is Autopilot Just for Urban Highways?

I’ve used autopilot 95% of drives. Works surprisingly well, especially with red lights and winding roads. Motor drive fail, Battery failx2

My drive shaft on my BMW broke without warning. Jammed up the rear wheels and it came to a sudden stop during rush hour. Teslas are radically innovative works in progress - it took gas cars 100 years to really perfect the system. Tesla has done a really good job in the years they have bene...
