I've also recently had the revised U version of the LDU recently installed out of warranty. Had mine installed on 12/27 and was told it had a coolant bypass at the SC. Seems to work fine....it does feel a bit down on power compared to the old one in my opinion though.

I don't think the dual motor cars are really an issue (2 small drive units), but rather it's the RWD cars with the Large drive units that are a serious issue.

Yes....they replaced them. I see them on your itemized repair list. I have no idea where to go next honestly. If it were ME I'd have someone try to compress the suspension as I looked/listened closely to get the general area of the noise. I'm not much help here beyond that. My apologies!

I didn't think about the charging...... If I was looking at Tesla's and installing a level 2 charger at home wasn't an option, I wouldn't even consider an older S. The thought of supercharging a pre-facelift S daily would make me nervous.
