Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

Thanks for confirming that its not just me. (Maybe I can rig up a solenoid to push the lever and wire it up to an 'old school' dimmer switch on the floor! Haha, anybody else remember those?)

Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

I can do that and the gray headlight symbol with an A in it goes away. Then the low beams are on but I cannot switch to high beams. Really messed up. So much for "supervised autonomy"!

Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

I keep reading this but either my car is different or I'm too stupid to catch on. I still get stuck in a mode with autosteer active where I cannot activate high beams (unless I continuously hold the stalk towards me!). Most of my night driving is in the country with minimal traffic but plenty...

Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

The definition of "unusable" could be argued ad nauseam, I suppose, but for me, the glaringly unacceptable "feature" is not allowing manual override when using autosteer. Totally unsafe in various situations. With TACC active (and following the same "logic"), why don't they go ahead and lock...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

In our case last June, we couldn't take a test drive because they didn't have a car! They had sold them all I think. We were insanely lucky because they had a car just like we wanted (YLR / blue / white / tow / 19") that had been double ordered and not cancelled so two cars had come in for...

What's your next EV after Tesla?

You can forget the Canoo if it doesn't work any better than the web site (locks my browser)!

Model Y bumper almost ripped off in pooled water

But a bit too deep for me! BTW, cruise control can be scrolled down to 1 mph! Try that speed next time just to be safe. O yes, you can scroll down to 0 too - might be even better! (P.S. Now I'm wondering if you can scroll negative and back up - I'll try it tomorrow - there might be some rain!)

FSD? Go for it or not?

Oh, one other question. With FSD installed, can I still activate TACC by itself without Autosteer or other FSD functionality?

FSD? Go for it or not?

Thanks. From that description and my experience so far with autosteer, I think I would like FSD. Stopping automatically at Stop signs and lights would be a real plus for safety. A year or so back I came close to running a Stop sign on a blind turn because I was mentally distracted and, I'm...

FSD? Go for it or not?

We have a 2022 MYLR less then 3 months old and I use Autosteer (with TACC of course) a lot. If I get FSD, will I still be able to use Autosteer alone without turning on FSD or will I have to use FSD just to get the Autosteer function?

When should I re-calibrate the cameras?

That begs the question as to why they want you to calibrate in the center lane of 3 or 5 (or more!) lanes? Does it give you a better initial calibration? And does it recalibrate when not using autosteer? Dealing with imperfect automation is enough of a challenge without adding ignorance about...

When should I re-calibrate the cameras?

Is there any chance that a new self-calibration could change where the car centers in the lane? It runs further to the left than I like. It was a new MYLR in early June and only calibrated once but not on a five lane road (I'm not in CA!). Does where you drive in the lane or which lane you...

Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

Yes, it shows it OFF but then I can't switch on high beams and it will engage again later - totally messed up system. It seems there's only two options: Don't use Autosteer at night Use it and have other drivers occasionally blinded and yourself frequently without high beams when you need them...

Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

Do exactly what? Push the turn signal lever toward the dash? And only right after engaging Autosteer? I tried all sorts of stuff last night but couldn't get it to stay off. (I don 't have FSD.)

Auto High Beam making Autosteer unusable

Auto High Beam is essentially worthless and at times dangerous - flashing at oncoming drivers who are already dimmed or refusing to go to high beam when you need them most. The real problems are not a "style" difference. Forcing Auto High Beam when using Autosteer was a big mistake Tesla needs...

    J1772 adapter melted

So I picked up a new adapter yesterday - warranty exchange, no problem. Today I went back to the charger where I had the problem and, sure enough, one of the two cables has a dark/burnt looking pin. I used the other cable for a while without issue; everything stayed cool. I'll notify the...

    2021 Phantom breaking override?

Phantom Braking is a real problem in our 2022 MY LR driven for 2 months now and about 4k miles. I think its happened a dozen times at least, sometimes so severe I was afraid of getting rear-ended (had someone been close behind). One problem may be oncoming traffic on a curve, or perhaps...

    J1772 adapter melted

Yes, sure glad its the adapter and not the car. Tesla Service says I can stop in and get a replacement which I'll do later this week. (BTW, do you have any documentation about the temperature sensor in the car?) But I'm still concerned about being stuck somewhere remote with a damaged adapter...

    J1772 adapter melted

Mine is also now ruined! The last time it worked it was very warm when unplugged. The next day it wouldn't plug into the charger cord - you can see a frothy looking substance (melted plastic?) filling part of one hole. I had used that free public charger several times before without problem...

    Color Scheme standards on UI

Glad to hear others have issues with the UI - I really didn't think it could all be personal preference. Years back I used to program color touchscreen UIs for equipment that cost 5 times my Tesla. I was hardly an "expert" but, good grief, some of these screens leave me gasping.

Reduce or hide map view and show me a big display of the time

Yes, lots of text should be larger and there should be more information that's always displayed. I'm fine with the map - I love maps. Satellite view is new for me and I like that too. You can always put up the energy graphs. I bought the car for two reasons, no gasoline (or oil changes!) and...

stranded car en route to the bay with zero range. But charged +110 miles in surplus for destination!?

Agree! I used the Trip graph on the energy screen for the first time recently on the 240 mile return leg (+1300 feet) of a trip. It initially wanted to stop at a SC I didn't want to use (one of 3 close together) so I turned that off and it showed arrival with about 5% SOC and said to stay...

Oops ... should be 329 miles. Why can't I edit my own post?

stranded car en route to the bay with zero range. But charged +110 miles in surplus for destination!?

In 3 weeks of driving I've settled in to doing this comparison a lot. It helps one get a feel for what to expect. So far I think I've always been above EPA range. BTW, is the range at the top of the screen simply the EPA value adjusted for SOC or is it adjusted for other factors?

    Free supercharge after service appointment?

I had a similar (?) experience after buying my car early this month. I stopped back at the store to pick up a 14-50 adapter, charged it (supposedly) to the card on my profile and then stopped for my first SC visit on the way home. Later I hear that the card didn't work for the adapter so they...

    Wall connector and generator

Along similar lines, does anyone know what the car does when the supplied voltage starts dropping, as during a "brownout"? Does it progressively cut back on current as voltage drops or shut off completely at some point? If so, does it automatically start charging again when the voltage returns...

What’s your longest drive without charging?

Longest so far is 250 miles, 56 kWh, 224 Wh/mi. 100% charge (229 miles) down to 87 miles remaining. One-way trip from about 1300' elevation, over a mountain at 1800' then down to sea level. Max speed of 65 mph with about half at 55 or less. AC use for about 1/3 of trip. I've been watching...

    DIY tire rotation

Its disappointing to see there are no instructions on how to jack up a Tesla except in a "repair facility" with a 4-point lift. Some folks carry spares into areas where there might be a need to put it on pronto! Even if Tesla Service could get there when needed, I doubt they will bring a...

Why is the Tesla 24' Gen 2 wall charger so much on eBay?

Why don't they buy from Tesla for $400? Mine was ordered when I bought the car 2 weeks ago, has now arrived and has a 24' cable. What's the difference between Gen 2 and 3 anyway?

Navigation doesn't work from Yosemite National Park

Well, I don't have time to do all those downloads - and why should I? My ump-tine year old stand-alone GPS Has the whole continent, "street-view" intersections, dynamic lane guidance, elevation AND voice commands all without any cell tower in sight! Navigation is such a big deal these days...

Navigation doesn't work from Yosemite National Park

Is there a master list somewhere of everything that stops working when there's no cell connection? Went camping and all navigation disappeared upon entering an area known to have no cellular coverage. Not just satellite imagery (I could expect that) but everything - no roads, nothing. Super...

Serious frustration with recent updates, features lost...

We just took delivery of a new Model Y last week and it looks and works as StTT and Mrbrock describe. I can turn the rear fan ON and it splits the air front to back and stays ON through any front operating mode. The rear vents are manually adjustable. Perhaps of no significance but I did note...
