    AC Compressor theory of operation?

Yeah it is a lot better to replace them when they aren't (yet) broken. Usually the indication is a lot higher power usage on home or RV air conditioners, but that's also hard to see unless you are monitoring or they blow the breaker. On something like an EV, if your power usage is suddenly...

    AC Compressor theory of operation?

Hmm… I didn’t have anything like this difficulty in charging my system. What was the reason you changed the compressor in the first place? I had thought I was having power consumption issues with mine and it turned out that it was working just fine…. I just wonder if you got some sort of...

    AC Compressor theory of operation?

Brain is right - go with the amounts from the sticker under the frunk lid. I have a 7 pass X, which has the dual systems (it's actually just an additional refrigerant loop from the discharge side with a second evaporator in the rear body) so if you have a 5 pass, then it won't take as much...

    AC Compressor theory of operation?

At least you have the proper gauge set that reads both sides. This isn't rocket science and you don't actually need service mode for it. Your pressures though show that you don't have anywhere close to enough gas in it - which makes sense if you only got one can into a system that needs 3. The...

    I retrofit MCU2, IC2, Tuner2, and FSD Computer into my HW2.0 Car

Tesla corporate are definitely not thinking any hardware retrofits for the older cars. It is much more valuable to the shareholders to see rising quarterly sale numbers of new cars, and internal features like FSD aren't tracked in the same way in the market. So they will likely continue to...

    DIY Tesla Drive Unit Repair

I'm not a machinist, but I've seen what can happen when you are trying to press-fit parts together and one of them is cast aluminum.... Bang. I'd be surprised if it took that much to press it together at .003, that you will get .006 to fit at all without destroying it. Metal on metal is a...

X90D battery being replaced with 75kwh battery under warranty!?

Either way, that sticker says this is a new pack not a reman - it's missing the R1 suffix.... So why then would they have installed it into an original 90D car? That's bizarre.

    Free supercharging transfer

It is a replacement pack. Brand new 350v 90kwh pack installed May2022 right at the end of the warranty. They let it out the door as a 90 and then tried to lock it down to 60 after the fact and hold it for ransom. It didn't go well for them. I'm "that guy" that was in the news in July 2022.

Model X door no longer open fully automatically without USS (ultra-sonic sensors)?

Good to know about the Y - the day was pretty windy (the weather was crap actually) on the day that I had it for the drive. So perhaps I thought the resistance to opening was a motor I was fighting, when it was just the wind and a heavy door that I actually had to push myself for the first time...

Model X door no longer open fully automatically without USS (ultra-sonic sensors)?

The auto presenting handles have their own issues.... But I'd put up with those over the nonsense of these powered doors. The Y and the 3 have powered doors too, at least it seemed like that with the loaner I had a couple days ago. Why overcomplicate the cars? Just innovate elsewhere and leave...

    DIY Tesla Drive Unit Repair

Is this something that requires the drive unit removed to install? I'm guessing the answer is yes... How much (ballpark) would that run? I've got one right now (2013 S P85 RWD) that makes a faint welding type sound when using or generating power, but silent when just coasting in neutral. I have...

The third party dealers don't know what they are talking about with making claims about "cars at auction" and they don't even know anything about normal cars and their history when they come from auction. I've had situations where I KNEW the history of a car (knew the owner and the VIN...

Model X - Adjustable Camber arms to reduce rear tire wear

I use the X for road trips where I need to tow and bring along tools either on a small trailer or on a tray on the back, to work on diesel Jeeps. I car-camp with a bed in the back. The X is great for that, but the size difference with the Y makes me think that it would probably work equally as...

Model X - Adjustable Camber arms to reduce rear tire wear

They came close to getting me on a new Y today too, giving me one with FSD 12 for a demo drive / loaner. While I was being fleeced for a coolant valve AND a $200 "diagnostic charge" where they had decided prior to the visit that it was the 3 way coolant valve leaking - which had NEVER leaked...

Model X door no longer open fully automatically without USS (ultra-sonic sensors)?

Fair enough - that plastic strip at the bottom of the FWD could be made of TPU or EPDM foam.... The edges of the front doors could have that same material. I just added a strip of black EPDM foam to the sunroof edge of my S to stop a wind noise and water leak in heavy rain, b/c the forward...

Model X door no longer open fully automatically without USS (ultra-sonic sensors)?

That is so pointless... So it only detects something DIRECTLY in front of the sensor. And can be confused / defeated by sunlight, smash your doors into ceilings or other obstacles all over the place. WHY NOT JUST HAVE NORMAL EFFING DOORS???? Jeez.

Model X door no longer open fully automatically without USS (ultra-sonic sensors)?

You have to understand the thought process. Darth Muskrat doesn't think of himself running a CAR company, he thinks of Tesla as a SOFTWARE company that installs their programs into cars. There is a process that most software companies go through, and Tesla is no exception here. There is a word...

Please help: frunk flew open on highway, bent hood, and smashed windshield. Tesla refusing to repair

Quite sure. My 2013 and 2014 S are both RWD so they have the deeper frunk, and I've had both apart for repairs. There's no holes in the tub on those like the X that has a large rectangular hole in the front of the tub where the button is. They also both have a manual second latch, so if you...

Please help: frunk flew open on highway, bent hood, and smashed windshield. Tesla refusing to repair

Yours is nicer than mine, you have at least a recessed button and that large plastic shield might help keep detritus away from the button. Mine in the older X is much more exposed, just a flat surface around the button for an inch or so (I'll try to get a picture tomorrow) and a giant cavity...

Please help: frunk flew open on highway, bent hood, and smashed windshield. Tesla refusing to repair

I don't believe there is a requirement for it to be uncovered. A clear lid would be perfect, and I'd be surprised if someone like Toyota doesn't already have that on theirs. They seem to have a department that thinks up safety stuff like that.... Although MOST brands haven't sorted out that...

Please help: frunk flew open on highway, bent hood, and smashed windshield. Tesla refusing to repair

Except here's the issue - the problem wasn't the automatic cylinders! It was the SAFETY BUTTON that has NO SAFETY of its own from cargo touching it! It is a simple miracle that with the amount of items I typically am carrying in the frunk for work, that something heavy and pointy enough didn't...

    Should I buy a 2016 Tesla X

I know it is - I own two of them and both are 2016. The doors opening aren't so great, the firmware has jacked with that thanks to Tesla. I doubt your control arms needed replacement, there is nothing to adjust on the factory arms and aftermarket are installed to solve the tire wear issues...

    Should I buy a 2016 Tesla X

Curious, why would you think that? EVERY ONE of the Model X through the current editions have the same flaw in the front half shafts, that design flaw has not yet been confirmed to be fixed. Other issues seem rather minor by comparison.

Taking apart the wheel really isn't too bad of a job, I did it during a road trip. If you are vaguely certain which end of a screwdriver to point at the problem, you should be able to handle this. :)

Please help: frunk flew open on highway, bent hood, and smashed windshield. Tesla refusing to repair

Correct, I actually have two of them now, both 2016 and about 2 months apart in build date. The button is under the front lip of the frunk, facing the back of the car / back of the frunk area. It's impossible to see unless you lean way over and look toward your navel. I don't know that mine...

That damn button in the frunk is the ONLY WAY that the latch can be released with the car in gear. 057 Technology extended service plan

Fast charging has nothing to do with imbalance. The supercharger cabinet supplies the power and the onboard BMS decides what to do with it and tells the cabinet how much to deliver / how fast. AC or DC, it's all handled by the car.

Anyone with success getting Tesla to undo their unjust SC01 -> SC04 that happened after buying second-hand?

Considering that you can't even ask for service without the app, yes. All of that is possible, and more than likely. They do not view themselves as a car company, they view themselves as an app / tech company that happens to have cars. So ALL of the worst dirty tricks from Silicon Valley are...

The specific torque amount is irrelevant - it is either designed to handle the supply of the vehicle or it isn't. Also the wearing happens as they are flexing in rotating whether they are driven or not. If parts are rotating, then there is likely wear to attend to eventually. The Jeeps have...

I know I've seen it somewhere, maybe it was in the TSB instructions. But my recollection is the procedure is to install a couple shims that lower the motor position a small amount, to flatten out the CV angle when the vehicle is at medium ride height. I've worked with Jeeps that have more...

IF the vehicle is not owned by you, or you do not have access to the current owner's Tesla login to see it on the website for yourself... You cannot definitively say if it has SC01 or not.
