Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Apparently the app is the only notification available from Tesla now. I'd have assumed that email notifications would also be used, just like prior year. I went into the app yesterday to change my PW settings and a noticed a new message was posted to my inbox there on March 6th. Payment is...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

An odd Announcement of the Event today. Said that it starts charging for the event at 6am discharging at 4pm in the lower portion and the Grid Event says Starts at 5:30 ends at 7pm. Severe thunderstorm warning issued for my area at 3:40 to 8 pm. Grid Event actually did start at 4 and it did...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Absolutely an internal battle. To excessively drain or not to excessively drain my batteries. To maintain control of my resources or have no control of my resources. I just "participated" in yesterday's event, you know, to help out the grid. Today I pulled more from the grid in a few short...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

My solar install paid for itself in about 4 years, with the incentives and SREC payments and no electric bill after month 3. I added the batteries coming up on 2 years now. I got them for backup power and to reduce grid dependence. Connected Solutions, increases grid dependence. My solar is...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I agree, it's more transparent now. Something isn't right when they control your battery for the day. 2 hour events turned into 3 hour events. Turned into 12 hours "preparing" for the event. Better than last year where there was no notice and then they provided payment with no accounting on...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I don't care for this new "Preparing for a grid event". The Preparation starts at 8am. And it's not really a "grid" event. It's a Tesla/utility negotiated deal so they can get superchargers and other utility perks. A deal that shortens my battery life and capacity and may effect the Limited...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Looks like 3% after 2 years. But it appeared to 'heal' up after the strong pulls. I'm trying to look at it as if I bought an expensive car and drove it 100 miles an hour for 3 months and then parked it for 9, would I have retained better value leaving it parked for 12. My 60 draws doesn't...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

7 o'clock, I've contributed all I can with my 2 PW setup, for the 2 hours. The last hour just lowers my average contribution.

I also wonder how so many full throttle deep drawdowns effects the PW battery life.

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I think that the only reason for a 3 hour event is to get the average contribution down so they can pay out less. IF you have 3 PW, maybe you can keep your max contribution at 10wk but for those with 1 or 2, it's not happening. I have 2 PW and I stop contributing max around 2 hours in. Then...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

This same reason is why I was/am on the fence on continuing with the program. I participated in 60 events last year and got $1500ish 4 or 5 months after the 'season' ended. $25 an event vs worrying about not having sufficient backup power to last. They drain it to the point where you would...

I opted out of the 1st one. I'm in MA

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

So let's say that MY battery is down after an event. An event is scheduled the next day. That day is cloudy or raining. Or let's say I notice that my batteries aren't going to be fully charged by the start of the scheduled event. Would it be better to Opt Out of the event as full discharge...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

So today's event.... Says event 5pm to 7pm. Drain starts at 5. Even get a count down clock as 7pm approaches. Event ends in 2 minutes. Event ends in 1158 milliseconds. Then event ends on the screen and it shows tomorrows scheduled event. At 7:02 my batteries are still draining...

Seems like that was a freebie to Eversource, in lieu of payment from Tesla.

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

We got that same one around 1 PM today. "Test event" as in let's see how much we can pull from the VPP today for a cost benefit analysis for Eversource? Just another of the concerning things to me from prior year. Maybe the new VPP "program benefits and details and support" will ease those...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

So now I'll have to determine if $1500 is enough to continue to allow Eversource and Tesla to control my backup power resource for 3+ months with no visibility or accounting to what they are doing.

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

just got email saying checks in the mail. 2 PW's = $1,497. That is the low end of what I was expecting. I hope there is an accounting statement to match up with my powerwall reporting. I'm pretty sure that I participated fully in all events. I have no idea whether the events were 2 or 3...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Thank you for the clarification. I have 2 PW2's. Looks like I'm averaging 18.8 kwh from Battery, per the Tesla app data, so far for event days. Does the payment per kw ave change every year? I can't seem to find my Connected Solutions documents. I must have done it electronically.

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I do have net metering. I just don't like pulling power from the grid when I'm producing enough power from Solar to meet the house demand. I suppose that Tesla has an incentive to make sure that I'm fully charged for an event. It's my first year in this program so we'll see if the benefit is...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Had a "new" observation today. Normally after a grid event, on the app, the battery is 20%. The next day, the solar production would go entirely to recharge the battery and the house is power from the grid until the battery is back to 100%. On most days the full recharge occurs by around...

PW's discharge rate during "Grid Services" event.

I'm guessing that it's all about how much was sent FROM the battery during the 'event' that is included in the totals for the ConnectedSolutions. I'm guessing that the stormwatch draw from grid is included in my Net Metering values, but has no impact on the ConnectedSolutions values, other than...

PW's discharge rate during "Grid Services" event.

We had an odd event yesterday. In mid "grid event" a Storm Watch was issued around 6pm. Storm watch apparently powers your batteries back to 100%. As the skies were cloudy, the solar wasn't producing much of much. The App showed that they were pulling over 8kw pace in from the grid (our...

    Eversource ConnectedSolutions for Tesla Owners

We signed up in 2021. We don't have an EV. Just panels and 2 Powerwall 2's. Got notice in winter that Eversource wasn't going to need any "event" days in the program. A week or so ago we got notice that they would be drawing from the battery for the summer period. They just started last...
