    Supercharger - Olema, CA (LIVE 16 Aug 2023, 6 V2 stalls)

I went on a camping trip at Salt Point State Park in April, and I took Highway 1 from the Marin City charger. I still had > 60% by the time I got there, and continued to Anderson Valley after the camping trip before making my way to a supercharger in Santa Rosa with about 15%. (I did get about...

    Rattling from dash AC fan

Never mind, it came back soon after. Maybe the "high" setting in the menu wasn't fast enough to produce the noise when I tested it after snapping the trim back on, or maybe the sticker came back off. I know this is an old thread, but I'll still follow up when I have more time to figure it out...

    Rattling from dash AC fan

Thank you! I had this exact problem with my 2023 M3P. Removing the dash trim was kind of a pain, but not as bad as waiting for a month, then leaving the car at the service center for however long it takes them to get around to it. Especially for something so... 🤦‍♂️ This was the case in mine.

    XPEL Stealth Washing/Care

Here's my 2023 M3P with XPEL Stealth and a ceramic coating. It gets a lot of compliments! I usually just hose it off every week or two, or when it gets a splat, and give it a full two-bucket wash every month or so. I've been using Chemical Guys' "Mr. Pink" since it seemed like a safe, relatively...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Congrats @Haste! Enjoy your new ride! If you ever feel like the smile is starting to fade, a good trick to bring it back is to go for a drive in a regular ICE car. I took my Mazda3 out for a drive and a wash today, and it felt so sluggish that I thought something was wrong at first. Then I...

Looks like they are removing stalks from the 3/Y

I agree with a lot of these sentiments about the radar (and now USS), removing lumbar support, FSD, etc. I'm still skeptical they would make this move for the 3/Y, though, because I think its effect on their sales would be much worse than the effect of removing these other features. Those other...

Looks like they are removing stalks from the 3/Y

My 2023 M3P also has a full steering wheel and stalks. That doesn't rule out a drastic mid-year change, but I'm skeptical that they would actually do this.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Bay area, right across the bridge from the factory. That plays a big role. Generally, there are more east-coast deliveries earlier in the quarter, and it shifts toward the west coast later in the quarter because they don't have to ship the cars across the country then. But it's only a rough...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Yes. See my sig for example. Here are my EDDs (easier to read without the strike-throughs). It seems like my experience was a little on the longer side, but not too far from typical. OD 7/13 -- M3P -- MSM/Black -- No FSD or EAP EDD Updates 7/14: 7/24-8/7 7/25: 8/5-8/19 8/6: 8/22-9/19 8/23...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

As long as you gave them your phone number, you should receive a welcome text that directs you to text that number back if you need help. If you didn't receive this, then you should reach out to them another way and make sure you get a text. It's a spotty resource, but a resource nonetheless.
  11. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

There aren't any great options that I know of, but texting the SA (via the number that hopefully texted you when you first placed your order) was the main way I communicated with them. It's slow, but the only alternative I know of is calling 1 (888) 518-3752 (comes up when I google "tesla...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I got my VIN on 10/5 and got the text to schedule delivery on 10/12. I think it's often faster, but evidently a whole week can pass between the two. Still, it's good to stay on them about it.
  13. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Yes. Have you received any text messages from Tesla? You can text them back to ask for help. In my experience, they became a bit more responsive once I got my VIN (i.e. same-day responses instead of several days, but still slow). I had to contact my SA to get it changed back from home delivery...

Adjusting those bumpers (they're little threaded rubber posts on the frunk lid) did help bring it closer to being flush. However, I'm not convinced that that is the best way to achieve alignment. I would usually design something to be at least a few turns in at its nominal position, so that...
  16. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I absolutely agree. We shouldn't even need to nit-pick like this, because their own standards for putting a 70k car out on the lot for delivery should be more anal than 99.9% of the customers. It makes the experience more awkward and stressful to even need to have those conversations in the...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I took delivery yesterday, and I am very happy with the car. I haven't had any occasion to floor it, but even a modest push of the accelerator is a gravitational thrill. It will take me some time to really master the regenerative braking, but it didn't take long at all to get comfortable with...

Mine said that (no FSD or EAP here), but it looked like it was just labeling the "Full Self Driving" section of the page where it gives you the option to upgrade. Is there an upgrade button below where it says that?

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Update: I got them to change it back. They finally texted me back at ~5 pm (original issue was at about 9 am). I think they've been getting back to me at least somewhat faster since my VIN was assigned, but the silence still wasn't great, considering there was only about a day to get it sorted...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I'm not sure if texting your SA or calling Tesla's customer service would be faster, but you can get them to assign an inventory car to your order. I don't think switching from LR to P is an obstacle, someone else here did the opposite. @jackb22 and @bossra95 could have some advice for you...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

I think the idea that something will get through all the regions covered by the cameras and into the blind spot in front of the car without being seen is a bit far-fetched (though I haven't seen a 3D field-of-view diagram, so I guess I can't be sure). People have already raised the issue of...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I remember reading a while back that someone had an experience more like what I described, although I don't remember where. It would also be consistent with the general "there are plenty of other customers who would take it" vibe I get from their process & general way of doing things. I'm glad...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Thanks! I plan to be fairly thorough, but I've decided not to bring calipers 😅 I had texted the SA right away, then texted again 40 minutes later mentioning what I'd previously been told... and they answered a few minutes after that. Picking up on Saturday! 😃 PS Both the number above and the...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I just got a text to schedule delivery, but the page says: "Based on your location, we will deliver your Tesla directly to you." But I absolutely do not want them to do this. It would be hard to do a proper inspection with someone standing there trying to get me to sign before his Uber back to...
  28. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I think you'll be notified when yours ships across the country, so that should give you a more concrete timeline to take care of business before the car arrives. In my case, I'm expecting to have a short window to pick it up at the factory when it's ready.
  29. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I haven't been updating my EDDs since I got into the 10/7 - 10/14 window, but every day since 10/8 it's moved back another day, e.g. today's window is 10/12 - 10/19. So once again, the dates don't actually mean anything, but now that I have a VIN, I think 🤞I can be fairly confident I can take...

  31. LorentzTorque

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Can't help it...You'd need a potential to get joules. Other than that, I think you captured the sentiment well. Yeah, you can technically get away with calling it a photon count, but it's unnecessary and gimmicky in that it doesn't express any technical advantage. I can see the use of the raw...
  32. LorentzTorque

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

I'd pat them on the back for counting vegan photons in batches of 10 million if they'd just install ultrasonics on my car.
  33. LorentzTorque

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

If you do want to get into the physics... The best justification for calling it a "count" would be that the number of electron-hole pairs created in the semiconductor lattice of the CCD pixel would be proportional to the number of incident photons over a certain energy threshold (but reduced by...
  34. LorentzTorque

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Yes, the signal is proportional, but considering the number of photons involved in a change of 1 part in 2^10 in signal intensity, that's like saying you're counting water molecules with a pipette. It's all a bit beside the point of the thread, but I can see why the terminology irritates some...
  35. LorentzTorque

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Technically you could detect individual photons with a photomultiplier tube, which can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars depending on what you're looking for... But yeah, they're not using those in Teslas, either. Bundling enough of them together to make even a low-resolution "camera" would...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

  37. LorentzTorque

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

I keep seeing statements like this... Is 2018 back in the day? Because my 2018 Mazda3 doesn't have ultrasonics. Even having a back-up camera was a big change for me. I'm sure many higher-end cars have had sensors like these for quite a while (and with their price range, this absolutely should...
  38. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

I think that's fair, though, considering how the company keeps demonstrating that customer focus takes a back seat to the current quarterly numbers (evidence: this process) and Elon's personal "vision" (evidence: removing ultrasonics with effectively no notice, the plan to remove turn signal &...

  40. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

According to the SA, nope. Not a dealbreaker for me, though. I was disappointed in them as a company, but I don't expect it to substantially affect my enjoyment of the car, considering that the driver assistance features are still leaps and bounds ahead of anything else I've ever had.
  41. LorentzTorque

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Welcome back! I'm sure yours will be a 2023, since my car (currently in production) is a 2023 and I doubt they'd go backwards on that.

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Thanks @bossra95! I'm happy that my car is a real object now, whatever stage of assembly it's at. I would hope so, but word on the wires is that it's a supply chain issue that they're doubling down on and selling as an improvement. Apparently some other automakers have been omitting parking...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to picking up the car. I guess it's still in production, so no actual delivery date yet. That was actually a relief for me, since I've seen cases where people in the Bay Area were rushed to pick up ASAP with little prep time to get their financing etc. sorted...
