Dumb question but do I need to do the finance application to get assigned a VIN or I’ll get assigned one regardless?

Wow you and I are in the same exact situation. Got that trade in message today too and my EDD is exactly the same as yours + we’re both in NJ. Hoping we get a VIN update soon!

OD 6/22. White exterior, black interior. Got my 13 day window a while back (8/18-9/1). Woke up this morning to it updating to 8/19-9/1 so NBD. When can I expect a vin?
