Charging using 32amp Commando and mobile charger

2 x 22mm pipe clips (one above and one below over the cable) act as a good cheap way to take the weight and strain off the main housing. https://www.toolstation.com/talon-hinged-clip/p82120

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

Do you mean using the timer for getting the car ready in the morning to a set cabin temperature and increasing battery temperature if very cold? I have not tried that with Charge Anytime (We use it manually as needed), but the logic is likely to be that you will end up consuming the car battery...

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

The funny thing about this is that I have thought about all the items you listed, but the only thing I have gotten around to getting is the portable compressor to be able to top up a slow puncture! So the exact inverse of where you are at :)

Anyone fitted a charge port light?

Attaching something like this wrist strap torch to the handle of the charger would be convenient to get light in the right place at the touch of a button. https://amzn.eu/d/3jRGV6s If only used for a few seconds a day in the winter it would only likely need charging once a year if it was a...

Alternative to the standard Model Y parcel shelf? Its trash

Mine also came with the 2 fold 2022 version and I was surprised to come across this thread with people complaining! Mine has always folder back and stayed without issue and is simple to access the boot.... I actually thought it was a good design to compromise between access and acoustics. So...

Daft Times anti-EV article of the day

You made me go look it up! ISO-15118 Details of Fastned here seem to say that they are not using that standard - Fastned Autocharge Whitepaper It seems that Tesla with the NACS are implementing the ISO Standard - Section 4.5.2 - North_American_Charging_Standard_Technical_Specification I...

Daft Times anti-EV article of the day

I can see how people can get stressed, a few weeks back we arrived at a Tesla charger, stopped and plugged in to charge (all took the usual few seconds) Sat back in the car and noticed the BMW iX3 opposite at the ionity chargers, There was a lady and her son in the car and she was struggling to...

    Crazy settlement figure

Also, production and distribution costs will become a larger percentage of the per litre price as they will be pretty much fixed, with less litres to spread them across.

Tesla charging cost calculator - Now with monthly figures

Also, the EV rate hours for OVO should be 24 rather than 10 as it will charge constantly if needed at the discount rate (I have had this happen when needing to charge 70% with the UMC)

Tesla charging cost calculator - Now with monthly figures

@DaveW Great website, a couple of nit-picks on the extra info for the OVO Charge Anytime: It currently reads "** OVO Anytime requires you to have a smart EV charger and allow them control of it, it will only charge your car and credit you back the discount." It should read "*** OVO Anytime...

Ovo UK - New EV Charge tariff

Just set the need by time in the charge anytime app to when it is needed - example, 18:00, plug the car in when at home and the app will check the charge rate to calculate how long is needed and will charge when the grid is at lower demand - I have seen it charge during the day many times when...

It was introduced sometime before .44 as I was recently pleasantly surprised by this behaviour when on the previous version when visiting France.

Wireless charging in M3 makes phone very hot

It would be pretty simple to have an adjustable bottom stop on the pad so you could alter the positioning of the phone relative to the coil. Even better, also having a switch to turn off the charging entirely so it can just act as a phone holder.

    So… Highland is out…

The video linked is indeed very informative, It proves that it uses the resistive method to produce heat in low temperatures (Linked timestamp)- - but obviously that is extremely inefficient The Air heat source is covered here (Linked timestamp):

It may well be a legacy feature that is no longer used... can't think of any others on a Tesla :)

    So… Highland is out…

Absolute zero (-273deg C) is the only point there is no heat in the air. The lowest operating is defined by the heat pump transfer liquid (think antifreeze) Another way to think about it is “How can an Air source heat pump heat a house when the outside air temp is below the freezing...

    [uk specific] Software 2023.32

Indeed, was just a thought given how close you implied the car was to the office. Home Charger recommendation

I use the UMC like a teathered charger, I have it mounted just inside the garage and have made a small notch to allow the cable to pass through the doorframe and then have a hook outside I can coil the cable onto. So secure to leave outside an a couple of seconds to plug and unplug. Gives around...

    Home Charger recommendation

I would also recommend you stop thinking in terms of miles per hour when charging and use kw. It makes it easier to calculate in the long run - especially when you are in Europe and working in km :-) Look up the size of your battery and then you can work out the % per hour to be added - e.g. in...

I will expand to say that it is not necessary to get a dedicated home charger unless you are doing more than 100miles per day (or 50 miles per day with a tariff where you get a fixed 4 hour window) as you will almost certainly not need the extra speed on a regular basis to justify the £1000...

    On our way to Italy

Same, I actually find it quite jarring coming back to the UK and having to use imperial.... the insistence on imperial and being in the minority club of driving on the left does limit when and if we get access to new things! Just look as the S and X....

Checklist for travel in France - advice appreciated

I just finished a 1920 mile trip around France in a Motorhome with an average mpg of 21.... that cost ~£650.... I think that you may need to revaluate your saving calculation :) I would guess closer to £250 - still significant though! Also, is this what you mean by granny charging? ;)

How do you turn volume of chimes down?

Seeing as you bought the plaid, have you tried track mode? It allows you to customise and limit the driver assistance. I would expect that mode would also be tuned for 2 foot driving? I like 2 foot driving on a race track, but on public roads I almost never need the break pedal as the regen on...

Holiday on the Isle of Wight - first time using public charging points!

I would recommend topping up at the supercharger in Winchester on the way to the ferry. The IoW is not that big, so you are not likely to use much battery if you turn off camera based sentry. You may only need to charge once or twice while on the island. If you are coming back via the...

    Hertz Model Y Rental review

It is not a retractable type, however its 2 fold points make it reasonably easy to fold and incorporate into a full load. Being more solid certainly helps with noise muffling. It can be put on the floor of the boot, or preferably, it can be folded and put against the back of the front seats...

    Windscreen crack

I would go through insurance, if excess is £25, the insurance would need to go up by £185 to be worse off next year... that is not likely. When I had a leak in a read window fixed by autoglass by removing and resealing, I was told that I was liable for the cost of new glass if it broke, not...
