I had the same thing. Took it to a service center with my mudflaps. They fixed the issue (said something about an "updated" fix they do) and installed my flaps for free, no questions asked.

Going back to the OP. For what it's worth, I easily fit 3 car seats across in the back seat. I've got 3 x graco slimfit3 lx's and it works perfect with my 6mo, 2.5yo, and 4.5yo and I don't see an issue for a lonnnng time before the backseat is too cramped.
