    Superchargers in Australia

The problem isn't production. The problem is the sales and support team. But anyway. It's speculation. We'll see if Australian deployments are impacted.

    Superchargers in Australia

Problem is. What happens when they stop making the sausages, but people are still buying the buns to put the sausage in. There is going to be a sausage shortage. 🤣 Nothing will be impacted today. But as people continue buying Tesla's. Unless the charging network keeps growing, we are not going...

Not really. Most companies redirect the emails to the persons manager. My company does that. You just can't cease all communication with your customer.

    Superchargers in Australia

It's a bit hard to continue existing rollouts, when there no one left to even reply to emails from Supply Authorities about Tesla Supercharger installs. Kyle reads a message from a Supply Authority employee at 9:40 mark. All emails to Tesla Charging are bouncing. Supply Authorities have no...

    Superchargers in Australia

With the China meeting last week. What's the bet all supercharging manufacturing is moved from NY to China ? I don't see it impacting Australia.

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Without getting too far off topic. The batteries have been tested by others, and it was about 50kW at 80%, and 38kW at 90%. Test done about a year ago on a Shanghai Model Y RWD in Thailand by Tesla Bjorn. I was getting these same sort of speeds 6 months ago. But experiencing much faster now at...

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Yes. I plan my stops around where I want to stop. I add the chargers as additional stops, to ensure the pre-heat. Because Exerter is 250kW and I only have the RWD, it matters little if I'm sharing chargers. That's another reason I use Exerter.

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Headed to Thredbo last Friday. Pulled in for 10mins to get a pie and coffee. My RWD Y charged at 66kW from 80% right up to 90%. Is this normal ? I didn't think it used to charge that fast in this part of the charge curve. Anyway I stopped at 90% and made it to Cooma with 15%. Then got 137kW at...

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

This is my Model Y SR. It can comfortably do it in 2 stops. But it's not the fastest way. 3 stops is faster, as you are charging more in the faster part of the charge curve. Stopping at Exeter doesn't add to the travel time. But it does mean 4 stops. Though if Exeter has vacant chargers...

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Since getting the Sexy Buttons commander, it reports 2.6kWh of Buffer over the OBD reader. So that's only about 17km. Be keen to go below 0% SOC and see if that 2.6kWh number starts to drop. Regarding Exerter. I have seen that reporting offlne when I was driving 3 weeks ago. But 10km out, it...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

EV Stealth towbar comes with magnetic cover and nice Tesla symbolled handle. Only thing is. The magnet is so strong, it's hard to fit the cover sometimes. But I'm used to it now.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

1.8 million Tesla's sold worldwide in 2023. 28.000 in Australia. Australian's supporting their local 3rd party auto industries, will have no impact on Tesla or their cars. Meanwhile it will have a huge impact local 3rd party auto industries. I went and visited Carasel Towbars at Fully Charge...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

The logic is to support good 3rd party sellers, on parts that are just as good as the Tesla parts. There are no warranty issues. I didn't want the software. Support the Aussie business selling and installing Tesla parts. We may need them in the future. Like we needed them for the Model 3...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Sorry to hear about the poor quality control of the towbar. But yeah, I'd just note where it's rubbing and file it down. But don't forget to touch up the paint, to prevent rust. I just drilled holes and used stainless screws and locknuts for the number plate. I got 7 pin flat, and bought a 7...

Tesla app unable to wake car

Car couldn't start charging this morning. Had to walk out to the car and connect with bluetooth. Charging then started. This is getting bloody annoying.

Tesla app unable to wake car

Yep. On Sunday ChargeHQ had a notification that it couldn't wake the car to charge it. First time it's happen since the Telstra Event. Working fine today.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Didn't know you could turn it off. Either way. I use it for a bike rack and 500kg tinnie. If I towed anything heavy, which I have no plans to, I just wouldn't use autopilot. Correct. If the bikes impede vision of your lights, and you don't have a light bar after the bikes, you can be fined...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

You don't want the towing package software. It prevents Autopilot when towing. Which is fair enough when towing a heavy load. But my bicycle rack has plug in lights and would trigger the Autopilot disable, if I had the Tow package software.
  21. Astro66

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Yes, fitted by Carasel. Carasel is an approved Towbar Fitter. Unless they damage the car. There is no warranty issue. Carasel offer a lifetime warranty on their work.

    My Tesla experience

Yes. I do need to upgrade. But am holding off till the second EV is purchased. The family wants the MG4 as the second household EV after looking at it, at Fully Charged Live. Looking to purchase next year. I'm currently running a E-Motorcycle as well as the Tesla. But it's electricity...

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Can concur. I have run the figures through "A Better Route Planner". Charging at 120kW at Majura would mean a 5 min quicker transition through Canberra, over Tuggeranong's 170kW that my MY RWD gets. But being so busy and getting 60kW at Majura. It means the time is about the same, so any wait...

    My Tesla experience

One thing about rooftop solar, is you probably aren't going to want more than 7.5kW going into the car, as your rooftop may struggle to supply this, and you'll pull from the grid. I'm currently just using the UMC 15Amp socket on an installed 15Amp Single Phase Outlet, pulling 3.6kW, as my home...

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Used the new charger on the weekend. My experience. Friday 4pm : Very lightly used. But the pie shop was very busy. Though no issue using the toilets. Got full speed of 170kW, and a really quick charge. Managed to bypass Goulburn and Canberra, and top up at Cooma. Monday : The charger was...

Some pics of the rack As you can see, definitely cannot fit a third bike, without a hitch extension. By 2 bikes is no problem. Tilt mechanism works very well.

    Supercharger - Exeter, NSW

Problem is going to be leaving Sydney with 100% means you'll be still greater than 50% at Exeter. Not the premium part of the charging curve. But it does give the option to bypass Goulburn and Canberra in busy periods, heading for the Monaro Hwy.

Tesla app unable to wake car

Used car last night. ChargeHQ started charging this morning when the sun came out. Will see what happens when charging completes and car goes back to sleep.

    Autopilot dangerous behaviour passing intersection

Autopilot uses only lane marking to determine car path. FSD also uses a database of stored maps, which the car places itself in, by recognising landmarks, signs, kerbs and using GPS. So FSD, when implemented fully, can navigate non-lane marked roads. Autopilot cannot and will not.. If an...

Tesla app unable to wake car

ChargeHQ started charging the car this morning when my Solar Inverter got to 1.4kW, and the Tesla App connects without walking up to car. I'm calling it fixed for the moment.

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I only get hitches with threaded attachments. It prevents any rattle. Even the bike tilt down feature, for tailgate opening, has a thumbwheel nut to stop rattle.
  38. Astro66

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I could easily have fitted one myself. I just didn't want warranty issues from Tesla with the car. And the fitting has a lifetime warranty. I have heard Tesla can tend to blame warranty issues on Third Party mods, made by non-approved installers.
  39. Astro66

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

There is a mechanism of a threaded locking pin to remove all wobble. Works perfectly. This is the one I bought $250. I got it for $229 with a Ebay monthly discount they have occasionally. It has the 7 pin round plug. I bought a 7 pin flat for $7 and fitted myself. Lights worked perfectly. I...

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

It is the Stealth. They charged $1300 for the towbar, a hitch and tow ball with cover. They charge $550 to fit to Model Y or Model 3. There is no software upgrade, though I didn't want it, so I can use Autopilot. I talked to them at Fully Charged Live. And they fitted a Model 3 while I was...

The rack fit's, so it's the 2" hitch. The spec also says 2".
  42. Astro66

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

Just type '2" hitch' into Ebay. So much choice. I got this bike rack for $230. For 2 mountain bikes, it works well. You would need a hitch extension to fit a third. But 2' hitch extensions are only $30.
  43. Astro66

Model Y Tow Package available soon from Tesla Australia

I got the Carasel Towbar fitted to my Model Y. $1850 installed including the hitch and towball. Very happy. Especially like the Tesla Emblem handle to remove the cover.

LFP battery - how often is too often to charge?

Solar using Charge HQ keeps my SOC at 50 to 80% mid-week. By Sunday night I'm back to 100%. So I comply with Tesla's once a week charge to 100%. Keep SOC above 50% when parked as that is the minimum charge setpoint. Once a week charge to 100%. I don't think you need to over think it.

    Model Y Performance Spoiler

After peeling the red protective tape off. Heat the remaining tape with a heat gun before sticking. It reactivates the glue. Sticks incredibly better. I have stuck many things on this way, including the rear spoiler.

    My Tesla experience

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Installed 2023.12.1.1 today. British English Voice recognition is a gamer changer. My Infotainment Voice Recognition is as good as google for everything, not just navigation. The other nice feature is all the extra controls added to the left steering thumbwheel. So much better than having to...

    Superchargers in Australia

While I'm here. I went to Thredbo on Good Friday and returned Easter Monday. Keeping my phone App visible with all the possible Supercharger stops, is a great idea. On the way home I was able to re-route to Tuggeranong Supercharger, when I saw both Majura and Goulburn with no free chargers...

    Superchargers in Australia

Hi Ted, I was in Jindy on Monday as well and road my bicycle past the proposed install site in Bay St. There is definitely nothing. The issue I see here, when the chargers are in, is the Friday and Saturday nights in ski season, when the Bowlo is packed, and people will park out the carpark.
