Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Well in my case it looks like it’s stable beyond 95% as well cause it never calibrates when I charge it to 100%. Do I have to go down below 15% every now and then and do a proper and real deep charge cycle ~15-100% in order for calibration to take place ? @eevee-fan above says no calibration is...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Sorry, not sure I understand. What has deeper discharges got to do with the battery calibrating ? And what should I do for it to recalibrate. I don’t have charging at home, most of my charging is done at L2 public chargers. Most times the charge cycle is ~40% to 100%. Thanks a lot for your reply.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

252-262 miles displayed with 100% SOC or is that the actual range that you get? Cause the displayed range isn’t what you end up getting. Can be more or less. Same question for you @eevee-fan. Thanks !

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Hi. My M3 LFP hasn’t calibrated in a while. I charge it to 100% 1x/week. Each time it just gets to 100% n just stops without any calibration. I should mention that the battery has calibrated in the past but hasn’t happened in the past few months. Any idea why, except that the battery is...

    The agony of a 10yo Model S 85 with 300 000+ km

Update : that infotainment bug was resolved in one of the OTA updates. Don’t know which one exactly but most times it works as it should & as it should always have.

[VENDOR ASTROTURFING] TAPTES Model S seat covers

I’ve been wondering about covering my white seats (hopefully with something white or transparent cause I like the white look) but I’m also looking to understand what impact would seat covers have on the heating function. Do you really feel the heat come through the covers ?

    Cleaning the floor mats

I have been reading that mats with rubber shouldn't be machine washed. I feel like the edges of the Tesla mat is made of rubber & therefore I've been reluctant to throw it in my machine. It would be a lot easier though if I could do it !

    Cleaning the floor mats

Hi all Those of you who have kept the original floor mats, how do you clean them ? Would it be ok to machine wash them ? I’ve a M3 but guessing it’s the same material across the entire range. Thanks in advance for sharing your tips !

Tips how to keep my battery healthy using mostly fast charger all the time?

Thanks for sharing. Pretty sure he didn’t have an LFP M3. From what I have been reading, LFP batteries need frequent calibration. I usually stay within that 30-70 zone but I do top it up to 100% 1x/week cause mine has an LFP battery.

Tesla profile photo & battery icon colour

There is a profile picture in my Tesla app. How can I figure out if the profile is cloud linked ? I recently activated the 2FA, not sure if this has anything to do with the profile being cloud linked or not.

    The agony of a 10yo Model S 85 with 300 000+ km

Quick update. That software update did eventually happen though I am not sure which one really fixed it. But now the infotainment works most times. it does have some other minor glitches but I am willing to turn a blind eye to them. Overall customer care is still a black spot though. I think...

Tesla profile photo & battery icon colour

Hi all, Saw this video on YouTube that caught my attention. Noticed that the guy has a profile photo on the screen & his battery icon is green. The video is only 3 months old, so I am guessing the software versions shouldn't be that different. I got my car a year back, the battery is gray in...

Tips how to keep my battery healthy using mostly fast charger all the time?

Yes. I let it do its thing & precondition before supercharge. However, sometimes I am doubtful about the duration for which it preconditions which obviously eats into the battery. While on the highway doing 115kmph/70mph on average, the whole thing (battery included) should be warm enough. So...

Tips how to keep my battery healthy using mostly fast charger all the time?

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. However, this doesn’t mention how to take care of LFP batteries for which Tesla says that they can be recharged to 100% everyday. I have an LFP M3, don’t have the possibility to charge at home so rely on the public infrastructure (I live in Paris, France)...

Music Streaming (Slacker) on Standard Connectivity?

Tesla says that infotainment (Apple Music, Netflix, Disney+, YouTube …) can be used over WiFi. However on my M3 it works 1 out 3 times (if not worse). When it doesn’t wanna work, nothing except the internet navigator functions. And yea, I have premium accounts, i.e. accounts I’ve had and been...

Model Y steering locked up while driving [Power steering went out]

Scary. And welcome to the world of Tesla Customer Care. They’re as bad as the car is good. I know that’s not very reassuring but I just don’t want you to have very high hopes. It’s likely that : 1. They keep telling you generic *sugar* like “This kind of stuff happens from time to time, reset the...

    The agony of a 10yo Model S 85 with 300 000+ km

@AAKEE I would like to keep the degradation as low as possible of course. So do I follow the table that I put in my initial question or should I just try to be around 70% SOC most of the time with my LFP battery ? Thanks !

    The agony of a 10yo Model S 85 with 300 000+ km

@AAKEE Got 2 questions : 1. Is supercharging without pre conditioning bad for the battery ? I know that the charging speeds are throttled to save the battery but I’d like to know what’s better for the battery. Throttled super charging without pre conditioned battery or ”real” supercharging...

    The agony of a 10yo Model S 85 with 300 000+ km

Customer care is insulting is a gentle way to put it. Older cars ? They’re not doing anything to support new cars ! I’ve a M3 (11/22). Infotainment works 1/3 times if I’m lucky. Been with Tesla customer care a couple dozen times. All I get from them is a “future software update will fix it”...

Wifi for over the air updates

Try switching to 4G and see if you’ve better network strength. If so, stay on 4G and create a hotspot. Connect your car to the 4G hotspot and you’re sorted. On iPhone you can chose to stay on 4G. No idea how it works on Androids though.

Tesla sets charge limit to 90%

Thanks for sharing. Not sure what exactly the “charging cycle (day)” column means Does it simply mean the number of times I charge the car (irrespective of how much I charge it) or does one charging cycle means charging it to 100% (wouldn’t make any sense in this table IMO) Also.. what if my...

    Supercharger preconditioning

Sure. But in terms of user experience that’s a pain in the arse (that I don’t wanna have). Eventually it’s supposed to make my life easier, not the other way round. That’s the first reason why I think people buy Teslas. Else BMW i4 is also awesome (for most M3 population), so is Taycan (for...

Preconditioning Battery for Daily Commute - Good or Bad for Battery Long Term?

Thanks for the confirmation. I usually don’t pre condition my M3 when charging at a nearby supercharging in order to buy some time to do what I have to do. Else it’s just too quick for comfort. On road trips, it’s a different story and the opposite holds true.

Tesla really needs to step up their SUV game (BMW iX impressions)

You’re spot on. I’d like to see Tesla’s share in the super premium segment (SUV & Sedan). I don’t think they have the same share as they’ve in the 3/Y segment. Where Tesla really shines is the efficiency (and the SC network but that’s opening up). People keep praising software but infotainment...

    Supercharger preconditioning

Can do this when driving in and around known superchargers. On a road trip the car will chose the supercharging stops by itself. Following the navigation will start pre heating the battery when it feels the need cause Tesla knows that you’re headed to a SC.

Preconditioning Battery for Daily Commute - Good or Bad for Battery Long Term?

@jcanoe : not pre conditioning for supercharging could have an adverse effect on battery health ? I know that it’ll impact charging speed which Tesla reduces to protect the battery. But even with the charging speed throttled, could it impact the battery negatively if it’s not preconditioned ?

Slowing down the charge st a supercharger

I wish I could but I don’t have that possibility. My charging is currently split between the low speed AC charging where I cap the charge speed to 8kwh on average and the superchargers (60% AC : 40% DC supercharger). Tarification with most of the AC (and some DC) networks are a pain in the arse...

Slowing down the charge st a supercharger

Don’t have the possibility to charge at home but I do make sure that I top up to 100% once a week, either at a supercharger close to work or AC public charging stations close to home (except when am out of town of course) Would you know how much energy would calibration need ? Thanks for your help.

Slowing down the charge st a supercharger

Hi. Quick question. We all have at some point seen battery calibration taking place towards the end of charging (supercharger or elsewhere). Last time I supercharged, battery calibration took place. Meaning that at 99% it started to calibrate and I spent longer than I would’ve to reach 100%...

Preconditioning for fast charging, worth it?

The only Tesla we have access to is the customer care. They’re level 1 folks who don’t know much about the product and it’s functioning and spit out lines they were taught for x, y, z conditions. I tried. The dude had no idea what I meant. (I even had to educate him about the battery size and...

Preconditioning for fast charging, worth it?

Yes. I know that BMS takes care of it and reduces the charge speed to protect the battery. I just wanted to make sure that this is surely bullet proof. (Love my Tesla too much 😊)

Preconditioning for fast charging, worth it?

Hi, trying to understand if supercharging without pre heating could have any adverse effect on the battery ? I know that the charge speed is throttled, but just wanted to make sure. Sometimes I prefer to not pre heat in order to have a bit longer at the mall otherwise it’s just too quick and I’d...

Ongoing Issues with Spotify Integration in Tesla Infotainment System

Here‘s a snapshot of an email from Tesla that says that it’s supposed to work, it’s also on their website and each time I’ve spoken to the customer care they never told me that it’s not supposed to work. They always said that thanks to me the issue has been escalated to the software team. Just...
