Again to their credit they do mention that it may come off some in high heat, and say it will go back on easily. That said "Molded Carbon Fiber" suggests it is a hard formed front that is applied. This is basically carbon weave that they put clear vinyl over. Not sure what is "molded" about...

It is and hands down one of my favorite purchases ever. I like a lot of pepper and can empty the thing in a week or so, but the hype about how much it puts out in one crank is real.
