Will Tesla Service Center replace rear hatch/trunk lid?

I had my trunk replaced under warranty for paint corrosion. The 2 service centers near me both don’t do any kind of body work. Instead they outsource to nearby certified body shops

    Rear trunk corrosion

Also, I spoke to the owner of the body shop and he said after seeing my car he started checking the trunk area and noticed several other teslas unknowingly had the same corrosion 😬 Friendly remind to check y’all’s cars regularly for this

    Rear trunk corrosion

Finally have some resolution on this issue… in January 2023, I submitted a service request to my local SC for the paint corrosion again. They said that I need to contact the body shop that repainted the area. So I called them and went over there for them to look at it. They agreed that the...

Need help deciding which Tesla to sell

I would swap the wheels on the cars (assuming you haven't already bought new tires for #1), then sell tesla #2. The PPF and low APR on #1 will go a long ways. And dont listen to these guys, enjoy the hell out of the Rivian!

Model S 2018 worth keeping before battery warranty expires?

Have you considered getting an aftermarket warranty? A quick search shows xcare quoting roughly $700 a year for a 2018 MS. This would basically cover the entire car including battery. this may or may not make sense for your personal situation but it’s something to consider. Basically it’s just...

    Rear trunk corrosion

Does this pic help? In my case it mainly occurred above the trunk button.

    Rear trunk corrosion

I replied to you on another post of mine about the same topic. And coincidentally I seem to be having the same issue as you... area was repainted and now 6 months later its bubbling again. Hoping it doesn't happen a 3rd time.

Rust and Paint Bubbling on Trunk

Sorry for the late response, haven't been on the forums lately... The service center in Tampa FL inspected the areas of what I think is aluminum corrosion (although I specifically said it was rust to them). They concluded that this is covered under warranty, but they don't perform any body work...

Help me choose: M3P inventory vs. Highland?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I say stick with your current model 3. But if you’re dead set on getting a new car, I’d say the performance is a great deal.

Charger port cover broke from power outage

IMO something fell on the cover during the storm. Probably a branch. Wouldn’t it have snapped the other way if it was forced closed?

Rust and Paint Bubbling on Trunk

Agreed! I’ll make a service request. Hopefully they’re able to fix this under warranty.

Rust and Paint Bubbling on Trunk

Hello, I was cleaning my M3 (2021) the other day and noticed there was paint bubbling/cracking all along the underside of the trunk lip. See pics as it looks like some visible rust(?). I've never used any harsh products and hand wash + dry the car. Not sure if its relevant, but I'm located in...

    Finger Ring Key

I have the Cnick as well and it works fine. Sometimes takes a bit of fiddling to find the sensor on the B pillar. Frankly I use it more as an emergency key in case my phone dies.

    Car Quality

For what its worth, I've has my M3 for about a year and a half and 15k miles and only have 1 similar rock chip on the hood of the car. Id recommend getting an OEM paint kit from Tesla: https://shop.tesla.com/product/paint-repair-kit Also- I'm surprised the double page glass cracked that...
