Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Removed the faux Brembo covers during a tire rotation, single allen head threaded into the caliper.

    Polyaspartic Garage Floor Coating

I have a polyaspartic coated garage floor and love it. I sweep it monthly with a push broom and when we do get weather (Arizona doesn't get much) snd the cars drag it in I use a mix of Simple Green and water with a flat mop and microfiber head to spot mop, then a final mop with water. It's a...

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

You would assume so since only the caliper was the announced (albeit quietly) change but this isn't the case. I mic'd my rear rotor and it's 20mm thick, not the 22mm thick rotor that MYPs are shown to have in the service manual. The rear brakes, caliper and rotor, are MYLR spec with a red...

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Or, in this case, makes new buyers assume they're still getting the performance brakes without taking a closer look. It is true though, nothing like having a flashy red caliper under the wheel. I used to rattle can my calipers back in the '90s, hell, I think I even sprayed a drum brake red. 😄

...and LR rotor from the measurements I took with the mic. 👎 Basically MYLR rear brakes setup coated/painted red.

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Dang, this thread really took off... Just an update since I haven't seen it been discussed after skimming through everyone's post... I mic'd the rear rotor on my '23 MYP with the Mando caliper/cover and the rotor is the same 20mm thickness as the MYLR per the owners manual specs. As you can...

Alignment Needed if going from 21”s to 20”s on Model Y

TLDR: Your alignment will be fine however, since the induction wheels have a slightly different offset (and width on the rear) you are slightly changing the scrub radius which effects your handling and braking performance. The uberturbine fronts are a 9.5" wide +40 and the induction wheels...

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Until I have the right tools to jack up the car and remove the wheel, here are a few shots of the revised MYP Mando caliper with the cover.

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Thoroughly read the MPP article and it looks like I may have found the answer to my question, shows that the Mando caliper is still red and the rotor is the same size and weight. Does anyone have photos of the "Mando Base (Red)" caliper that's under the cover? Thinking about how it would look if...

Going crazy about Performance brakes? [Tesla using caliper covers on rear brakes of Y performance after supplier switch]

Just picked up my '23 MYP in early December and noticed the rear brake caliper cover while I was installing some mud flaps. Took me awhile to figure out what was going on since I assumed it had Brembo's all around too. I know this is a recent change (Aug '22 or later) but has anyone taken the...
