Beginning of the end for Tesla

E-fuels are a bit of a joke really, unviable on the grounds of cost for 99% of the population. I don't think even their promoters are taking them particularly seriously, other than for keeping classic (or future classic) ICE cars running when legislation outlaws fossil fuels. The Tesla news...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

Nobody is suggesting you 'ditch a perfectly good ICE vehicle'. The point is that you sell your ICE vehicle when the time comes, and replace it with a new EV, rather than an ICE vehicle. New vehicles will always be needed to renew the nation's fleet. Second hand vehicles will find new...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

The important thing is that new cars coming onto the road are EV. You and others are doing your bit by buying new EVs. When you sell a car second hand, it is important to note that you are not just driving it off a cliff. Someone else - who might well have more time / skills to keep it...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

Everyone is cutting prices in China, but in fact Tesla is a winner. It has the headroom to cut prices and still make a profit. Pretty much everyone except BYD and Tesla lose money on EVs in China. Plus the market for ICE is collapsing there... ... as BEVs and PHEVs approach 50% of the...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

Some people care about the environment, some people don't. It depends on your upbringing and your outlook on the world. The great thing about Teslas (and other EVs) is that they make sense on so many different levels. You don't have to be an "eco nut" to justify getting one.

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

Model X residuals to be strong going forward as they aren't making any more of them (in RHD)? Future classic? Used prices of the Model X don't seem to be too different to Audi Q7s of similar age. Source - Autotrader. Main downside of Model X is the cheap feeling interior, the 3 and Y are...

    New Highland UK - stalks

I suspect stalks is a generational issue. For older drivers it might be an issue, but the younger ones will get used to it very quickly.

    2023 Shipping Movements

What are the chances that Titus, Hoegh Detroit others will have to divert around South Africa? ie to avoid the Red Sea? It seems many shipping lines are diverting now, such as Maersk.

will we get the model Y AWD in the UK?

I guess Berlin right hand drive production will begin soon? Probably Shanghai will really ramp up the revised Model 3 production, focus on expanding and exporting lots of Model 3's to Europe.

    [UK] Model S/X LHD Discussion

I suspect they will sell a fair few LHD cars in the UK to those who regularly drive to continental Europe for work or to a holiday home. I doubt anyone would buy one as a day to day car in the UK, it would just be a bit silly. I expect their engineers have more urgent things to do than...

    2023 Shipping Movements

Interesting. In March 2022 they sold 12,921.

    [UK] Price cuts

It'll be interesting to see how things change when Berlin RHD production gets ramped. Currently in month 1 of a quarter you can't get a new Tesla for love or money. In month 3 they are desperately trying to shift a whole load of them. When things are 'smoothed out' I wonder how prices will...

Has anyone sued Tesla for FSD costs?

I have always looked upon adding FSD as like adding a tip or a gratuity to a bill. Essentially you are paying for nothing except for the hope of a possible future service. And the extra money you pay is going towards a good cause, ie the development of the service and the general betterment of...

    Window washer fluid low

Lidl is excellent, the best value. Super concentrated liquid and in a bottle so clever that only the Germans could have engineered!

[uk] Public charging - the media may have a point

You sound exactly like my Dad, glass half empty! But you are right, they need to expand the network. I am just more hopeful that they have a plan and are executing it. They are a data driven company, undoubtedly the most data driven car company, and they will know exactly where the problems are.

[uk] Public charging - the media may have a point

I'm not sure I'd be so pessimistic. Things may be getting tricky now, but when you think how quickly the charging network has grown over the past decade, it is quite impressive. Tesla just needs to work really, really hard now to add sites and upgrade existing sites.

[uk] Public charging - the media may have a point

There do seem to be quite a few Superchargers under construction on the map - https://www.tesla.com/en_GB/findus?v=2&bounds=58.26594431649738%2C14.148263152343755%2C49.012364416241574%2C-19.601736847656245&zoom=6&filters=supercharger%2Cparty I've not been to any Superchargers where it hasn't...

    [UK] Price cuts

Yes, it is just the sense I have. I'm in Northern Ireland which certainly wouldn't be early adoption territory, and there aren’t huge numbers of Teslas here. But I'm always being asked about my Model Y, and various family members and friends would be now considering getting one for their next...

    [UK] Price cuts

The cut isn't necessarily permanent. I wouldn't be surprised if they increase prices again - * The price cuts have sparked huge demand that they might not be able to cope with; * Demand is typically weak at this time of the year, picks up in the Spring / Summer; * Economy may well improve...
