Steering wheel not able to drive straight

I did put a link to this thread in the service request which may have helped them with the issue.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Mine went in on Friday last week for diagnosis for a couple of hours. Took it back in yesterday and had it back the same day. Also had a courtesy car too. Got back to the SC and my car was fully charged too which was a bonus. Can't complain about the service to be honest.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Steering rack replaced today. Driven it a few times this evening and all seems to be Ok again. Strange that a software update caused it. Perhaps the new rack has a different API on it and the old one is no longer supported. May be talking rubbish though.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Just been told it needs a new steering rack. They said that if they warm up the rack by rotating the wheel left and right multiple times and the problem goes away then is it software, otherwise it’s hardware. A bit strange to me but then what would I know. It’s going in Tuesday for the work to...

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

I’m surprised that Tesla are not doing a recall on this issue. If it were to get out to the media that a software update has impacted the steering and thus the safety of the vehicle then it would have a pretty bad effect on them. I was on the motorway yesterday in narrow lanes in roadworks and...

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Downloaded 2023.2.13 and no difference. At Service Centre now. They have said it is a known issue. Will see what the fix is.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Just a quick update. I had the steering issue, I charged the car using a supercharger today and the issue has gone away. Worth a try.

    Recent troubles after 2023.2.10 update...

I have an issue with the steering since the update. For some reason when attempting to drive in a straight line, the steering cannot sit in the centre. It seems to be either click slightly left or slightly right. Anyone else have this issue?

Strange Steering issue following 2023.2.10 update

I suspect you could be correct.

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

I don't hold out much hope for you @EdwardHighveen. It seems pretty strange that so many people would have the same issue following a software update. Unless the software update caused damage to the hardware of course.

Strange Steering issue following 2023.2.10 update

It doesn't sound like a click, but more feels like one. It feels like turning a rotating bezel on a watch. It moves in stages rather than smoothly.

Strange Steering issue following 2023.2.10 update

Looks like a known issue too: Steering wheel not able to drive straight

Steering wheel not able to drive straight

I have been experiencing the same issue since update 2023.2.10. It's also going in on Friday this week. Hope I don't get the same stock response from Tesla Service.

Strange Steering issue following 2023.2.10 update

I have booked into the service department on Friday, but have a 3 hour trip to Manchester tomorrow and and a bit wary. I have spoken to service on the phone and they have said there are no diagnostic issues in the logs for the car.

Strange Steering issue following 2023.2.10 update

I updated the software to 2023.2.10 last week, and ever since have had an issue with the steering. When stationary and the steering is in the central position, I am feeling resistance and clicks when turning the steering slight left or right. Tyres are fine as I have checked those for issues...
